- LNER A4 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley was the motive power for the Settle & Carlisle Fellsman tour from Crewe to Carlisle via Shap Summit and back via the Settle and Carlisle line on a day that would see the rain cause havoc on the mainline due to flooding .This would be the first time in 26 years that SNG would be seen Northbound over Shap since running on the Royal Scot tour in 1998 . We see 60007 charging through Oxenholme station at full tilt and as 60007 took water at Grayrigg I caught her again at Shap Wells. The return sees 07 at a blustery Stockber . Apologies for the wayward branch at Stockber getting the 1st shot .Today’s tour was the 65th anniversary of 60007 doing 112mph on Stoke bank .Apologies for the wobbly end to the 1st video at Stockber as I used a anti shake feature in my editing process and it made it worse so the old adage is double check 😟
The excitement of seeing these Gresley locomotives on the York to Darlington line while train spotting at Alne was AWESOME!!
Excellent days filming Steve, great to see Sir Nigel Gresley made it through the floods and train cancellatons, cheers 🎥👍
Thanks Steve, thankfully the flooding was above Carlisle so SNG had a free run 👍
Steve, The return of SNG to Shap was a very welcome sight and the performance looked excellent. Regards, John
Thanks John , good to know that the diesel wasn’t helping on Shap 👍
She was certainly cracking along through Oxenholme. That was an excellent shot! Very nice to meet you at Shap!
Thank you and your right 07 wasn’t hanging around 👍Yes it was good to chat with you briefly 👍
Good coverage on a dodgy day and a welcome change of loco ,cheers Steve Brian
Great to see Gresley back on Shap Steve and well done getting 2 bites at the cherry with the water stop. Its actual return to Shap northbound was a few weeks ago on 5 April but just light engine (Bury to Newcastle). According to available records its previous northbound to that was the Royal Scot rail tour (18/4/98), not that it makes much difference. Cheers, David.
Cheers David, absolutely brilliant to see SNG on Shap and actually doing most if not all of the work. I knew it’s been light engine but to me that wasn’t a tour but certainly didn’t know about 1998 so I stand corrected 😂😂👍
@@TheStephengthompsonNo problem Steve and quite agree, Thursday’s run was definitely the real deal/main event. Nobody likes a pedant haha 😂 Agree about the performance too, the diesel was pretty quiet when it past me 👍🏻
Superb filming of the A4 Stephen. Excellent video!
Thanks Allan, good to see SNG on Shap for the 1st time.
Excellent footage there Steve of Gresley, climbing Shap and over the S&C.
Thanks mate 👍Wasn’t sure what might happen with the flooding but glad it ran 😀
Super footage of Gresley, in gorgeous landscape. Great exhaust and sound. I need to watch this a few more times :)
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words as they are much appreciated 👍
Absolutely superb, thank you (again) for a(nother) wonderful video!!
My pleasure and I’m pleased you enjoyed the show 👍
Excellent video Steve. Great to see SNG running to Carlisle. She performed well. Kind regards C&A
Thanks C&A, believe the diesel was assisting towards Tebay but after that Gresley was on her own so a great performance 👍
Great video Steve. Another piece of history safely recored for posterity. 🤓 Well done 🤓
Glad you enjoyed it Anthony, it was great to see a blue streak on Shap for the 1st time 👍🎥
Spot on Stephen and nice whistle through Oxenholme. Nice shots at Stockbar.👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it David, something different for a change seeing a Streak on Shap 👍
Excellent footage, thanks for the work you do to bring us these wonderful moments.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the very kind comment 👍
Oh yes! What a come back, nicely captured in poor conditions. A very enjoyable watch.
Glad you enjoyed it Derek, it was certainly good to see the A4 on Shap and thankfully it was able to run considering what happened floods wise .
Great coverage of SNG Steve Thanks and thanks for sharing Brian
Spot on Steve, an unpredictable day to start with but great to see Gresley running over Shap and the S&C as planned, cheers 👍
Thanks Nige , considering the weather problems it went pretty well to plan 👍🎥
Congratulations on being out in that. I waited until the last minute this morning, but the forecast for the west side looked like I'd have been wasting a trip. Wish I'd gone now. :)
Thanks Alan, it was difficult to know exactly what was happening but thankfully the flooding was mainly above Carlisle hence SNG had a free run 👍
Very nice Steve, a good run out for the A4 after such a long time since the last time over Shap
Cheers Austin, it was a great performance from the A4 and good to see a blue streak on Shap for the 1st time.
Super video Steve :)
Another lovely video Stephen well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on CZcams bye for now Philip
Great stuff Steve, as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it Dave 👍
Cheers Steve, I always do 👍
Hi Steve, Great video and locations...Dave ,😀👍👍👍👍🚂🚃
Cheers Dave , need to check next time in the editing as I used a new filter to stop the shake but it made it worse 😂👍
@@TheStephengthompson Hi Steve, Did not notice , I used too use a UV ,Cheers ...Thanks for reply ...Dave😃👍👍👍👍🚂🚃
Great filming as usual
Thanks Dave , much appreciated 👍
Looks and sounds great. Great quality (as usual) especially as it looks like the weather and light were not being kind (a week before June too!).
Many thanks as ever 👍Thankfully the weather forecast wasn’t as bad as expected 👍☔️☔️
Great video
Great shots Steve despite the circumstances today out on the mainline. Great catching up with ya again this morning.
Cheers Richard, certainly a great display from the A4 . Good to see you again 👍👍
Great video Steve 👍, I did plan on Oxenholme myself but got caught out by the early running 🤦♂️. I think the three peaks express, on the 8th of March 1997 was 60007s last northbound passenger hauled train over Shap. Still a long time ago though.
Cheers Simon, must admit I didn’t know about the run in 97 so thanks for the update 👍👍
Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍
Many many thanks 👍
He was certainly steaming well.
I thought the same Roy 👍
Cracker Steve. That water stop was most handy for you!
Not a locomotive designed for this. A racehorse for the flat track L.N.E.R.. GREAT VIDEO.
Thanks for the very kind comment as it’s very much appreciated 👍
Great video Steve, it was really tricky today trying to work out what was happening, I was at Beck Foot and was worried that it may not stop at Grayrigg. For the return leg I waited at Plumpton trying to confirm which line it was going to return on as no trains had run on the S&C line all day. In the end I opted for Armathwaite curve once I was happy it was coming down the S&C..
Glad you enjoyed it Alistair, kept my eye on Traksy to see if the tour turned onto the S&C. Grayrigg was always going to be a stop as it was taking water there 👍
@@TheStephengthompson I did not realise until someone came along and said it was taking water at Greyrigg, so had to stop.
❤
👍👍
Ah just another Thompson video.... Lord help you if you ever b*gger one up Stephen ! SNG looked and sounded in fine, fine fettle.
Really appreciate the feedback as it means a lot. Regards Steve
@@TheStephengthompson VERY welcome, as always.
