Queen - Hyde Park 1976 (8mm)

Some information below as to how this treasure came about.
Previously uncirculated, this is a great quality 8mm film of the famous Hyde Park show. A few years back about a dozen Queen collectors combined forces to buy this silent film reel from an online auction for a pretty penny - with no guarantee that it was genuine, or that it was in good condition. The reel eventually arrived and was safely digitized, much to everyone's collective relief. Further costs were incurred to have it transferred to digital, coordinated by Brian's Wig. Audio was later synced by Pittrek (it is no easy task to sync two analog sources playing at different speeds), and a digital image clean up was done by Chief Mouse.
What more can be said about this landmark day in Queen history? Now part of it can be enjoyed from audience member Steven Patten's perspective, who filmed it from the front row. He only brought along the one reel, so it's just over three minutes of footage, with the bulk of it being of Queen's first two songs. The audio of Bohemian Rhapsody comes from the "Free In The Park" LP, and Ogre Battle's soundtrack is from a higher generation copy of that same audience tape. Appropriate audio of the opening acts has been dubbed as well.

Now, there have been several uploads of this on youtube earlier today by people who didn't directly participate in the sourcing, cleaning up and sharing this film. While I hate to contribute to the clutter, I think I owe an upload to my subscribers, especially since I worked on this clip.

If you watch it in 1440p on CZcams, it looks almost as good as pre-YT-compression version.

That's exactly why 1440p is advised for videos where detail / grain preservation is critical :)

@@ChiefMouse right click on the video, go to stats for nerds. It is vp09 codec everytime the video is 1440p+. And it's a huge difference between this and avc1 codec.
