It's going good so far. TF2 is just fine now. I just downloaded it... it was on the PS4 store for discount of $5 these days. I bought the "ultimate edition" or whatever just because I was so pumped to play the game lol. You don't really need to buy the extra feature stuff though. Kinda wish I would've only spent $5, I could probs level my way up just fine without the extra stuff. Anyways, I got into the game just in time too, because I guess the devs (or some mysterious employee) has been updating the game again and apparently now the servers are super stable with new game modes released and working now. I guess it hasn't been playable for a long time because of server issues. It's working so nicely now! No hackers that I can tell! Some people are REALLY good, but as a new player I'm learning how to play better everyday and every single match is a total blast. 10/10. Honestly, this game takes the cake over CoD no joke... and I see why it's so good now... because it was made by the CoD OG's. Didn't even know that. No wonder.

Used to play this game a lot back in the day. It was the only 8th gen launch title that actually felt "next gen" to me, something new.
There was this time when microsoft made the game free to try during e3 2015 I believe, and the population jumped from like 10k to like 100k immediately. It was glorious. The skill jump due to the movement tech was so huge that I managed to go three games in a row without dying even ONCE. Top of the leaderboards each time. The game had this really cool mechanic where if your team lost you could evacuate on the helicopter, so in one of these games my team lost, but I still didnt die a single time. That was one of my favorite moments in gaming, I felt like a war hero or something. I've never been nearly that good at an online shooter before or since, that's how much of a difference being good at the movement was. Now I feel all nostalgic and shit lol

Panic Button ports have nowhere near the same level of optimisation and custom-tailoring to hardware. Their way of working is: lower everything as much as you need to hit 30 fps, give the game a wide dynamic resolution scaling window to clean-up the framerate and ship it.
It became obvious when Panic Button weren't up to the task of porting Doom Eternal to Switch, even though they were working on it in parallel to id software, who handled other versions internally. As a result, the Switch release must have been delayed and id software needed to send their people over to Panic Button to help the studio finishing the game - they were not able to do so on their own.
I do not really know why people hold their work in such high regard. Their only impressive project was bringing Rocket League to Switch an that's only because it uses UE3, which doesn't support Switch hardware natively. Apex Legends plays bad on Switch, the game isn't pushing any limits in terms of technological complexity, but they made it a choppy, blurry mess. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is atrocious. Warframe is awful. Doom and Wolfenstein TNC are only passable.
Bluepoint are artists, Panic Button's work is cheap and nasty in comparison.

Definitely loved Titanfall, I spent a surprising amount of time playing this port when it came out because I was kind of dumbfounded over how well it played. One of the oddities was touched up on here, where the game couldn't be installed to a hard drive from a disc. The technical reasons were mentioned here, but I remember Bungie had a notice against installing Halo 3 to the hard drive for presumably the same reasons Bluepoint avoided by blocking disc installs. Bungie's main issues for Halo 3 were saying it could increase load times and cause other performance issues.
In terms of actually playing the game, it was a pretty loyal port of the game to older hardware. Visuals obviously took a hit, the sounds was compressed many times down to super crunchy levels, but the oddest benefit? The matches on Xbox 360 loaded in noticeably faster than the Xbox One or even PC counterparts! Always thought that final detail was funny.

  •  Před rokem +3

Its really a shame when they make online games without a way to host a private server, that just makes the game have a countdown to the time the devs pull the plug, and we the players cant get to experience the games anymore, this is why I like Valve still today, they make games and they leave them very neglected afterwards but, they release a way to host custom servers, and to make mods to them, so the community can still make new content, and if the oficial serves die or are hacked we can host private servers to keep playing.
