Recently, a state university had an official ban of Tiktok, however users just switched device or switched wifi to 5G, and made the ban ineffective. Then what's the ban or sale of the company? To really ban it, one has to do what China does, establish a national firewall, and say goodbye to freedom of speech and privacy. Even China cannot do it 100%, people use VPN and proxy cities to get over the national wall of cyber security.

TikTok is only being "addressed" because legacy social media companies are threatened by the competition. As the userbase for Facebook, Twitter, and other major social media sites slows, having another social network pop in and take up the time of their potential (and younger) users is a danger to them. If these legacy networks want us to stop using TikTok and other newer social networks, then they need to innovate and do things better instead of trying to stifle new players.
