      Most of that is true, but if you have an autoimmune disease, you are at risk. Never smoked, don't drink, 135, no diabetes, very active and on 12-4-2023 it was like a switch turned off. And the BIGGEST issue is the shortage of cardiologist and neurologist.

      They'll mock you if you go in with those symptoms though. Medical school needs an overhaul in that regard.

    Too bad Drs pretty much role their eyes at women when we want tests for preventative care. The overall message during a Dr appointment is "make another appointment when you are dying or just go to the ER".

    Risk factors aside, some people judge by appearances. Not all broad shouldered, tall, big men or women have bad habits, smoke, don't exercise, etc. Some are heavy at that size. Regardless, this is wonderful to learn. Thank you.

    Male host in apparent efforts to wrap the segment up time detracted away from the poignant message the doc was sharing about greater attention needing to be given to helping bridge challenges for black women to access effective health care. We should take every opportunity to educate and advocate for our demographics most at risk and have the greatest number of lives affected.

    Many of the risk factors (HBP, obesity, type2), as well as heart disease itself, are all symptoms of metabolic disease or insulin resistance. Eat fewer carbs, grains, processed food, and seed oils less often and it will help immensely. Then, of course, stop smoking and move more. Focus on eating fatty meat and veg. Get into ketosis often and, perhaps, stay in it if you want to lose fat and heal things. Ketones are a cleaner fuel for the body, including the brain. Fasting can also help immensely.
    Do your research on cholesterol and statins. The latest is that high LDL is not nearly as indicative of a problem as high triglycerides and low HDL are. You can also get a CAC score to see how clogged your arteries actually are. Also, statins often do more harm than good.

      Bright red was fairly popular in the 80s. It's not unreasonable to think it could make a comeback. Why would you let a political group hijack an entire color that's used prominently by so many cultures?

      All humans should be aware of heart attack symptoms and know their own body imo, but you make an excellent point about "gendered" messaging. TY for this.

    • @Limitedonathios
      @Limitedonathios Před 5 měsíci

      @@andreawallenberger2668gendered messaging helps reduce the literal health bias. There has been a perception for many years, because it was taught, that women are less at risk. Even if you say, “everyone should get checked,” many women say, “well I’m a women, so I’m less at risk.” It is literally to highlight a current public health knowledge gap that has been identified. Some things in life can literally be male vs female, black and white issues.
