If we consider all the facts, I think Trump is gonna be viewed as one of the worst Presidents in all full honesty, I mean he did try to do good, like the Middle East Peace Deal, he also sended agaents out of his own pocket to rescue people from the 9/11 attacks, he has done some good stuff indeed, but his evils overtook his goods, he made a musulim travel ban, he pushed us away from science, he also reduced efforts to take on cliamte change, he made a racism fuled wall which made it difficult for familes looking for a better life to get to the U.S., Trump also weakened our forgain relationships with his "America First" agenda, he used tax payer money to play golf, he also hasn't paid his taxes, he fuled the looting, vandalizing and breaching of the Capitol Building, he also wanted to brainwash children with nationalism instead of patriotism, one moment he could be praising his loyal republicans, the second he woul dbe trashing them for accepting the reality of democracy, with all that said history won't be kind to him and he deserves it.

President Tyler is also the ONLY U.S. president who didn't receive the honor of all U.S. flags being lowered to half-mast upon his death. This was because, when he passed away in 1862, the U.S. Civil War was raging, and Tyler had just won a seat in the Confederate States House of Representatives. President Lincoln therefore understandably refused to order all American flags lowered in his remembrance.

Beg to differ. The Electoral College system isn’t hilariously over complicated. Each state has a number of electors according to their population. We are not a Democracy. Our founders deliberately and unanimously rejected the idea of a democracy because they knew history and understood human nature. We are a Constitutional Republic. If we had a democratic election system, the 3-4 most populous states would elect the president.

    • @porrii
      @porrii Před 2 lety +4

thats nearly what already happens. california, texas, new york, etc have far more votes than smaller states like wyoming, alaska, vermont, etc. because they have a far greater population, so they have far greater a say in who is elected president. california's 55 electoral votes trump wyoming's 3 votes. though it should be noted that smaller states are actually overrepresented because every state receives +2 electoral votes for their senate seats (electoral votes are assigned to a state based on the number of congressional districts + number of senate seats) and so because of this states receive a minimum of 3 electoral votes when (if the goal is equal representation) they should receive just 1. because of this, wyoming for example receives 1 electoral vote for roughly every 192,000 people and california receives one vote for roughly every 718,000 people. im comparing the smallest and largest state to demonstrate my point better, but it does expose that a person in a smaller state actually has *more* voting power. this skew towards smaller states is essentially the main reason why a president can win with a minority of the national popular vote, and you are right in saying that this is what the founding fathers intended and knew would occur; they weren't creating a democracy, they were creating a republic.
personally, i agree with the idea that 1 person should have 1 vote, with no vote being more or less powerful than any other. people claim that big cities/states decide elections, and thats true to an extent and it is democracy at work, but it is also a little misleading i think. giving small states greater representation would give them more of a say in whose elected and what legislation is passed (ie. stop them from being ignored by larger states). but i believe that creates an inherit inequality in the system that is unfair towards larger states, and a fair democracy would represent everyone equally. should white people be given less voting power because as the majority, they will 'decide' the election and stop minorities from having a say? that is racism, people will cry. but wouldnt giving rural, smaller states be just the same logic, just less morally egregious? geographic inequalities are inevitable in a democracy, and a logical, i believe, would not favour one geographic area over another. to me, this seems more of an inherit problem with democracy based on geographic areas if anything, and the solution that would solve it is proportional representation (ie. scraping geographic electoral divisions entirely.) though this system has its own controversies (cough cough weimar germany). (though modern day germany uses a similar system).

man its almost like capitalism needs major reform to work for the working class instead of the cabal of corporate elites at the top and that you completely missed the point of the entire section because youre pearl clutching about "MUH GOMMUNZIM!!!!! !NOOOOOOOo!!!!!!!!!!!! HEALTHCARE IS LIDERALLY USSR STALIN GEORGE ORWELL 1984!!!!!".
capitalism is a great system when the people running it are ethical and actually follow the rules, but instead in the real world, these people dont do anything with their money or assets and instead choose to hoard them as they watch their number rise on a forbes chart. its stupid to think anybody actually needs 10 billion dollars to survive in their day to day life. a billion dollars is such an unbelievably incomprehensible number its insane.
      czcams.com/video/0J6BQDKiYyM/video.html
these people at the top are 1. not paying taxes by abusing the multitude of loopholes they pay congress to keep open every year, 2. do not spend their money or liquidate any assets and 3. most do not donate shit
when there are 3 or 4 massive companies strangling smaller businesses and people hoarding wealth, you no longer have a free market, you have corporate socialism. because even if the companies make a massive fucking blunder and lose everything, they can be comfortable knowing that the government which they have paid off will be happy to spend the tax dollars of the american public bailing them out (see 2008 bailouts)
capitalism is a great system that drives innovation and can lift people from poverty, when it is working as intended and not being exploited, and unfortunately in the US, its been exploited for decades. in a moral and just society, people should not be dying because they are too poor to live, we need to broaden the social safety net. what is more patriotic? bowing down to some corporate overlord who is in essence plundering the US market to make as much money as possible and giving nothing back in return? or helping your fellow american live a happier and more comfortable life?
      you can decide.

@@cayorne I have not engaged in a good debate on CZcams in awhile now. Let’s dive in. Now, John confirmed that he is a socialist when he responded to a comment that critiqued socialism with him saying along the lines of “at least we don’t do blah blah blah”. So I can call him a command economy stooge, because he is one. I did not call him a commie. Unlike most people I know the difference between communism and socialism
Sure a person does not need 10 billion dollars, but he can do whatever he wants with his money as long as it is legal. Also not subverting American interests. In the long run, capitalism is about making money for oneself, not charity. Which yes, can be annoying and harmful, but luckily we are mixed economy that has regulations so companies don’t con consumers and employees. Loopholes should be delt with, I can agree on that. I agree companies should not be bailed out to some degree.
How do you propose we deal with these massive companies?
“Don’t expect to build up the weak by pulling down the strong” -Calvin Coolidge
These companies are very important to the American economy and could easily change your life for the worse if we destroy them too much. Apple phones would become more expensive, Amazon shipping increase in price, Microsoft systems longer to release and etc. Also thousands of workers in America that would have to be laid off if these companies become to small.
Poverty will always be around, but we can minimize it. Now I am not against to some government benefits to the poor, but taxing or regulating the living hell out of companies will not fix the problem. Giving and charity is more of a culture thing. If you want less poor on the streets encourage that. I always recommend the idea give companies tax breaks and benefits to the amount of charity they do. So they aren’t destroyed by government regulation and the have the encouragement to better communities for benefits. I would love to hear some ideas from ya.

the commonality of obesity is a recent phenomena, if it were the cause of market economy then it would have been like that for a very long time, the reason why so many people are obese is because so many of the cheapest foods nowadays are loaded with high fructose corn syrup and provide almost no nutritional value, and the (ever increasing) lower classes are eating this because its what's available to them
