What could they have done? *It still had him* They tried attacking it and it used him as a shield. Doug and Shane are right; they were caught completely by surprise by the things it was doing and by the ineffectiveness of their attacks.
I don't fault them for their reactions
And Oscar literally had no chance to react. He got knocked off the bike, it's on top of him, he gets a few panicked kicks but then it grabs him and bodies him hard twice, knocking him out.
I want to give big props to Aaron Dismuke (Oscar's VO). You see him matching the other Ozpin's VO (Shannon Mccormick) in tone and cadence. But Shannon is still voicing the "Ozpin in Oscar's head" portions.
Oscar is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
And Ironwood straight up killed Sleet. RWBY is that dark now.

Exactly, plus Oscar’s aura was gone so if they attack and accidentally hit him it could be fatal. There really wasn’t much they could do with it standing right on top of Oscar, which shows it’s intelligence. Had it moved away from Oscar after immobilizing him then they could have attack and thwarted the Grimm efforts, so he stayed on top of him like a predator standing over it’s dead prey. Then rag-dolled Yang and Ren like it was nothing. And on top of all of that it actually spoke, going against everything they thought they knew about Grimm. Sure they most likely learned at Beacon that the older a Grimm is the smarter they often are, but I very highly doubt anyone has ever faced a Grimm this intelligent.

@@DocMicrowave No because there wasn't a grimm before long that a single weapon couldn't kill. however, rens weapon wasn't even a tickle to it. Besides no matter if they planned a team attack faster He still already in a position to use Oscar as a shield before they could even react. and even if it was surrounded by team attacks they can't guarantee Oscars safety in the moment of desperation because as far as they know this Grimm may have no issues killing Oscar

Qrow wanting to kill Ironwood for "putting them there".
If I recall teaming up with Tyrian was not an idea Ironwood came up with. Starting a fight on the plane freeing Tyrian? Not exactly Ironwood's fault either.
The writing here has gone over the top in making Ironwood is as evil as possible and deserves what ever comes his way.
I know the golden rule of no body, no death. But I think it safe to saye the Counsilman is dead as evidenced by character reactions.
And yes the fighting seems a little lackluster so far. Amongst the people who left RT, I wonder if any of them were fight animation choreographers.

Naw man, Ironwood gave orders to arrest their group which made Clover go after Qrow, If Ironwood didnt give that Order, Clover, Qrow and Robin would have brought Tyrian to Ironwood to be put in Jail... I hope that makes sense I've been awake for 15ish hours editing Lol, What did you think of the fight in Chapter 3? I personally really enjoyed it

@@wickedwitness1007 Qrow was ready to be taken into custody if it meant calming things done until they could be sorted out and confirmed. (Even if he planned to escape later.)
Robyn started the fight. Because was mad that she wasn't on the arrest warrant!!??
Yes! ONLY Qrow and the kids were on the order. NOT Robyn.
Of all the crazy things the writers could come up with for her to get mad at. And then only to be knocked a out cold for the rest of the fight 3 seconds after her first shot. Which also freed Tyrian by the way.
Some of the most contrived writing ever in RWBY ever.
All crafted in a lame way to make Ironwood look as evil as possible.
As depicted, of course Robyn wouldn't bear or take any responsibility being the strong whamen she is propped up to be.
The writing was clearly geared to place ALL the blame on Ironwood. Write down to Qrow, with a dying Clover in his arms, vowing to take revenge on Ironwood. (Well we all know how that turned out.)
I guess we will have to see how Qrow and Tyrian's next meet up will go. Will he get himself killed during the fight thinking about revenge on a long gone Ironwood?
More bad writing incoming I suspect.

    RE: Ozpin's voice actor
Oscar's VA imitates Ozpin's VA when Oscar is possessed. The first time Ozpin takes over Oscar's body, the audio blends Ozpin's VA into Oscar's VA.
But inside Oscar's head (or in the V7 monolog), it's Ozpin's VA.

Okay, so I'm watching this REALLY late (after starting from V1C1 of your reactions) and normally wouldn't comment... but I'm hoping you guys get more positive about the show further on in this volume. At this point you are literally difficult to watch with all the negativity about the show. None of you seem to even like it anymore.... and I'm left wondering why you're even doing reactions to it? If you dislike it and don't understand what's happening to the point of what you're saying in this reaction, why would we want to watch you anymore? I want to see reactors enjoying what they react to.... it comes across as watching it is a chore for you guys at this point. Chapter 2 of this volume and I already need a break from your channel. Not great. Tell me it gets better....

    • @TheGrizzledGeek
      @TheGrizzledGeek  Před 3 lety +1

Fair enough I think we were really down on the first part of this volume. However there is a drastic change after the break. Not to spoil it but if you are looking for positivity, the second half of this volume is where it is at.

@@TheGrizzledGeek That's great to know. I only sub to RWBY reactors when I catch up with ALL their reactions... and since about the middle of volume 7 you guys had become more and more negative about the show (and it was showing in your view count).... I was just starting to feel disappointed that I may not be able to finish your reactions when I had watched all the way through.
A lot of times reactors rear their ugliness around vol 4/5 when they react badly to PTSD and grief, saying that the characters just need to get over it. I quit watching right then and there because I can't endorse people who treat mental health that way....
You guys were great through those volumes, so I was just thinking your reactions would be getting more positive, not negative.
I'm so glad to hear that it gets better, and it does make me want to continue watching more. Thank you. :D

I think they were justified to be in being shocked. The last time they tried to attack all at once in volume 4 they got dusted. They were only able to handle it because they knew all its moves to subdue it. However, this Grimm took on 3 incredibly different forms, smarter than anyone it faced, and seem to absorb damage better because rens knife in its chest didn't even make it flinch.

    • @DocMicrowave
      @DocMicrowave Před 3 lety +5

And had time to make these transformations. Even putting Oscar down at one point.
At one point they seemed to surround the Grimm from three points. Where was the tactician? Distract in front while someone attacked from behind.
This was no time to play by Weiss's rules of not attacking out of turn.

@@DocMicrowave okay. Here's the thing. This thing is kind of terrifying and is something they have never seen before, and unfortunately, it's a normal human reaction to get kind of spooked out of logic when you see shit like that. it is perfectly justifiable that there were several instances of stunned silence in the encounter. So i'd say it's fine to let this one go. But not any later encounters.

@@emanymton713 Fair. I just feel like that kind of thing wasn't done so much in the past.
Sure there were the quick slow-mos for fancy strikes or actions. But they weren't exorbitant. And fit smoothly with the action.

That all action was put on hold to see it's changes. Kinda broke the flow for me.

@@DocMicrowave That wasn't really a transformation, that was just it unfolding it's wings.
The Nuckelavee in that same Volume took about as much screen time as the Hound to transform and all it did was get a little pointer in places.
