- This short film gives a real flavour of the exciting action in the 1976 Lombard RAC Rally. Roger Clark, with co-driver Stuart Pegg, is in masterful form in his Escort RS1800 "Cossack", storming through to his second RAC rally victory. This win was also the first British victory in a World Rally Championship (WRC) event.
This was the days when a rally, was a real rally of endurance. Those days have gone and today a rally bears no resemblance. I was there every year, and just keeping up with it spectating was a rally of endurance of its own. Thanks for sharing this.
Lived through it, was there and watched it, ♥️'it. Roger Albert Clark, the English Rallying Master, of a great era. R.I.P.
Truly the best and golden years of rallying, the group 4 era when every entrant had a fighting chance to win an event as all the cars were prepared the same way. The Escort Mk2 in whatever guise, track, forest, etc was unbeatable until the arrival of the Fiat 131 abarth. I'm eternally glad I was there and saw the action live. Ford has always been a motorsports giant.
Escort driven hard by Mr Escort himself. Great stuff. Thanks for posting
