This wonderful visual delight is just over 200 pages. It features the designs of James Farmer III, who is a master at turning a house into a home. He believes a home is a backdrop to our lives. A place we should long to be. A home should offer respite and rejuvenation. It is where we plop our groceries and do our laundry. It is where we relax and lay our heads to sleep. Farmer offers ideas on how to make all areas of our home calm our minds and sooth our souls. One of my favorite books!

Nice mix of art and antiques in cozy livable settings.
I enjoyed his first design book so much that I purchased the second book the minute it became available. His layered design esthetic is a welcome departure from the sterile empty trends that have dominated the design world in recent years.
James Farmer has a true gift for decoration. His books were also a delight to read as well as look at.

James T. Farmer - what a treat! Such beautiful, warm, classic, design. I love that his rooms with book shelf libraries display the books with the spines showing, as opposed to the current trend of books displayed with page-side showing. If all I see is shelf after shelf of white, off white, edges of paper, I think the person who lives there must not read! (Just my person opinion.)
I have often chuckled at that trend, although it does provide a certain look, good luck finding the book you are searching for. I do love Farmer.
Moisture building in houses that due to the development of climate change can cause books to go mouldy very expensive hard covers can be wasted
We bought all his books. They are beautiful. He is our favorite interior designer after Charles Faudree.
Yes!!! I think Faudree resides in my soul next to Dorothy Draper and Bunny Mellon! Oh- and Mario Buatta

I have a couple of James books and they rank top of my favorites. I love the way he mixes colors and patterns to make a room feel warm and like nome. I have many pages marked as reference for my decor style. Great review.

I just found your channel and subscribed! Thanks for the lovely video. Mr. Farmer's work is beautiful. This is how a home should look and feel! I'm so tired of white and beige and MCM! Please do a video on Scott Meacham Wood. I also loved the work of Dan Carrithers and Charles Faudree. Although both are now gone, their style was classic and timeless. I will continue to watch your channel.

I can't find my Charles Faudree books, but I will. Did Dan Carithers have a book? Southern Accents featured him a lot.
@@thetartantopiary Unfortunately, I don't think Mr. Carithers ever wrote a book. You're right he was in Southern Accents and also Traditional Home a number of times.
