  • A John Deere 6400 tractor and a John Deere 348 Square Baler complete the mechanized portion of Rolling Oaks's first hay cutting of the year. Marcia Johnson guides the baling parade around the pasture. She also had the task of adjusting the baler after the season's first few bales "exploded" after being kicked.

And a short video of the baler kicking while in the turn at the end of the field is here: basicbill.com/post/53771196674...
A big thank you to the folks at Rolling Oaks Farm for the invitation and access to the operation.

Excellent work guys! This is pure gold in it's purest form .9999! The way this work of art came full circle at the end was a plethora of cinematic genius! The ups the downs... Just, an amazing piece! Keep up the excellent work and absolutely can not wait until the next adventure!

Thank you for a walk down memory lane. Spent some time in upstate New York working on a Dairy Farm as a youngster. Catching Hay bales and stacking with a very familiar set up like this. I think people should work on a Farm at least once in their life's . Gives you a complete better understand where your food comes from and what it takes to get it there. Had many cuts from the hay,bee stings and the farmer laughing at a me fighting hay bales behind that kick baler. A great year of employment ,would gladly work on a Dairy Farm again.

Oh bale kicker, where were you when I was 14 and stacking bales by myself that weighed the same as me?

I just noticed that the thrower thing rolls when turning to keep it aligned with the wagon behind. Clever design!

There is something whimsical about how this thing throws bales.
