WHY AM I DONG IT THIS WAY?
A lot of channels do Patreon or CZcams Memberships at a cost to the viewer which puts a lot of content behind a paywall, meaning it is pay to view, and a large amount of the subscriber base miss out on a lot of content, or the quality of the content available to non members reduces. I don’t like this approach.
My way - EVERY one will get to see ALL content. If you aren’t in a position to donate - you still get to see ALL content and your current experience of the channel will NOT change at all. If you do want to support the channel then you get to decide how I prioritise the videos.

I recently listened to the whole Clancy album and I, a person who has depression, felt like the whole album was about it
Every line just clicked in my mind as something I feel and experience daily, word for word

"I am Clancy" (lyrics in the song Overcompensate, and also the name of a short lore video they released right before their new album Clancy)

"Why do I do things I know I shouldn't do?" is a something Tyler has definitely dwelt on. There's a great interview on a youtube channel called Face Culture with him from 10 years ago where he talks about exactly this, specifically in Part 2 and the last section titled 'Perfection'. Bearing in mind his faith, he will be very familiar with the verses from Romans Ch7 which start " I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do..."

This was very cool and informative too. I've been doing therapy and also trying to understand these aspects of Blurryface/Tyler.

This is reflected in another way for the 'Heavydirtysoul' video also from the Blurryface album, but I take Josh's drum disappearance as telling the story that your depression and anxiety can negatively impact those close to you. So if Tyler is battling these demons, he may not be present and it affects their music and by association Josh's performance as a result.

Stuart, I think in this track Tyler’s is trying to say he’s been around the problems in his head so long he knows them like he knows his local area and it’s not the best place. As we say in the UK “It’s as familiar as the back of my hand” or as a “repeating beat”. It’s a reassurance to his audience that he knows they are familiar with their own not so nice locale in the same way; and it’s alright because he’s found a way to move towards a better locale, and he’ll be there to guide them out. Tyler used to be doomed to be locked into the repeating head space, beat or patterns of behaviour, walking in circles which leads people around him to believe he’s one of those locals to be weary of “who’d kill you, soon as look at you”, but he knows deep inside he’s a good guy and he does things with good intentions, but goes about them the wrong way. Thus the line “Kills the things he wants to save(or love)” i.e. his friendships groups, his passions etc.
However, now he’s learning how to change direction (possibly through therapy) and he’s trying a different path away from troubling thoughts and actions. He says to the audience most people tend to be locked into the same beat, same negative head space because they are sheep following the fads and fashions portrayed all around them; a lot of which are negative. This is reflected in the trite brainwashing fluffy air-head crowd pleasing music they pump out on the radio without much thought. Hence why they won’t play his tracks because they deal with darker things and deeper emotions that actually matter.
Tyler suggest the few who get this, and get that the place they are in is no good for them, those who want to develop a true sense of pride in themselves and who are trying to understand and reach the emotional depths are his tribe. He knows they are not evil, just because they make mistakes and breakout the mould. Thus, knowing there is a way out of their negative locale, he wants to help lead them, or walk with them to a better place and unfamiliar territory that isn’t “Fairly Local; that isn’t a place where they end up at funerals for their friends who commit ‘s’,. He knows a warmer place that isn’t cold and unemotional, where people don’t constantly burn with anger at what is going on. A place where they can be their own person, develop their own identity and lay their own more positive path and skip to a different freer beat and dance free.

Thank you so much for such a nice comment. I think that is what is feels like for me with TOP and which I’m splitting the videos into reaction and explains because I feel like I want to sit down and talk more about these songs and lyrics outside of a very initial reaction.

Hey I came from the X reaction videos and love the content. Could you do a scarlxrd reaction, his style is not for most people but there’s deep meaning behind a lot of the lyrics. Some songs I recommend are ”TERRAFXRM”, ”I LXST THE WILL TX WIN” and HXW THEY JUDGE”. There are a lot more songs but these are the ones I could think of right now. Thank you :)
