This is a fantastic video, but there are two mistakes in the English lyrics, as per the liner notes of the original vinyl album:
verse 2 is "I am *barred* from the event" (not 'bored')
verse 3 is "so where's the moral?" (not 'so is tomorrow')

Everyone hears *"bored"* .. maybe the lyric sheet is wrong ! ..
I remember looking at the lyric sheet when the album came out and thinking "BS" !
Spot with "so where is the moral ?" though

This has always been one of my favourite Bowie tracks. Great energy. Great Bowie performance. Great Frippertronics.

I’d say this is my favourite Bowie track but there are so many (favourites) in his catalogue.

Even though this song was from 1980, this was inspired by David Bowie's unreleased song that he wrote in 1966 and recorded in 1970, the song is called "Tired Of My Life".

So...is there an English translation somewhere out there of the Japanese lyric?

    • @justinarcher5699

The Japanese lyrics are just translated lyrics from bowie's verses

@@justinarcher5699 I thought that was the case but translating the words to English doesn't match up with David's lyrics exactly.
"And it makes all the papers to"
      is
      "Shinbun wa kaki tateru"
But that translates to "Japanese newspaper writing."

I think if you go so far as to put a video up with subtitles you should at least get it right. It's "I am barred from the event" not "I am bored from the event"and "So where's the moral" not "So is tomorrow".But if you are Japanese then no problem, as I love poor Japlish translations.

Bowie is merely translating the Japanese lyrics to english ... this is an evolution of an earlier song called 'tired of my life'.... from soul wrenching to hysteria, imo

I think it's meant to be both. Sometimes artists use similar sounding weirds that can litterally be one or the other and have a different interpretation to different people
