Since recording this video, my Dad has lost another 3 pounds. On Mother's Day, my Dad told my sisters and me that he could no longer walk any distance because of poor circulation in his legs. I suggested he and my mother change their diet to eliminate seed oils, wheat products and sugar and to increase their protein intake and start taking supplements such as AG1 that I gave them and to start walking short distances each day. I asked my Dad to promise that on Father's Day we would go on a longer walk as a family, which is exactly what we did on Sunday! Their health is improving every day!
Thanks for Watching!

I think it is wonderful how you think of improving the food supply for the forest creatures as well as your own. Of course, I realize it is also in your own interest to attract those creatures, but you rarely see others think that far ahead.
😊😊It's the way of life it's a part of survival and need not just their selves the earth only needs people to rethink rebuild reprogram from depending to doing it yourselves smart man 😊
By providing them with food you also get to observe more wildlife on your property, a very nice bonus. I'm glad you had a nice father's day walk with your family and that your dad was able to deliver on his promise! Im sure their health will continue to improve with the guidance and inspiration you provide!
Paradise requires a lot of work, but the Peace and quiet really justifies the process. Admire your dedication and work ethics, Shawn.
I learn so much just watching and listening, and though I am 80 years old and a city gal, I still enjoy learning, so your videos keep me entertained and keeps my brain working. Thank you, Shawn. You are indeed a rare breed. I mean that in a GOOD way.
amazing how a little effort each end of the summer can increase future hunting possibilities .... and still provide useful wood for use as well ....
Shawn, it should be noted that AG1 can interfere with certain medications, blood pressure meds being just one.
I also tried AG1 for 3 weeks and I don't deny its benefits, but the taste made me gag so much that I started to dread having to drink the stuff the next morning
Before purchasing, I went to their website to look up the ingredients. The two I can not take are stevia and spirolena!
Stevia is the taste and a headache. Spirolena does bad things to my gut. Everything else in it is fantastic!
Looking good Shawn
Good idea on those cover wraps around you young trees. I hope they survive and grow successfully for your homestead. Hi h
There beautiful Cali.
Thank you for the information and the agricultural management aspect of your video. Peace and blessings , my brother 🙏
Thank you for sharing your journey with us !!
Take care brother Shawn !!

P.S. Love your content and have been following your main channel for years! Would love to meet you one day.
I had started a couple of Hugelkulter spots on my property a couple years back after watching what you had done. The tree chaf is breaking down nicely. Here in southwest Colorado, the soil is marginal at best. Thanks for all that do buddy.
Thanks for another great video. I like the idea of you getting some goats to add to your food supply. Goat cheese would be very tasty.
Thanks Shawn what you’re doing is amazing and all the hard work will pay off. Blessings! 👏👏👏🌱🌱🌱🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯😎😎😎
Thanks for the update 😘👍🐕🇬🇧
Gotta love bartering. One person’s surplus is another’s bounty.
I think the patrons are paying for material they enjoy and I appreciate them doing that.
I wish I could plant as much as you can on your property. My property is north of you pretty much on bedrock, but you give me motivation to grow what I can. I enjoy you sharing your homesteading life
I decided to get ducks and geese to protect the chickens. The boy goose is great at his job especially when the hawks try to hunt. I like your idea of getting goats, I’m building a Paddock now for at least two goats to start. I’m thinking, milk, cheese and if the shtf, meat.
Very good thank you my friend
merci JAMES
That mineral lick will be the hub of ALL wildlife activity. On my property in MN every critter in the woods comes by my salt/mineral site! It’s good for the animals and it’s also a good place to put a camera to inventory your population. Great work Shawn!
Thank you , Shawn .
🐺Loupis Canis .
Your chickens will love clover too!
Yes! It’s their favourite so far.
Always enjoy your content!
All-around awesome! 👍😎🇨🇦🐾🦌🐻🐇
Big job, managing a forest.
Great video Mahalo for sharing
It is more comfortable when you don't work because the work sound use to be so loud compared to the speaknng Now we can listen. The hooman who figures out hypertension should be granted 200 years of life.
Boa tarde um ótimo dia pra você
Dont forget that you need magnesium to get the d2 to work
Great video Shawn! I haven't yet added AG1 to my daily use but I will be doing so. I've lost almost 50 lbs in the last 6/7 months by a need to change my diet due to being diagnosed with gastreoparesis which was brought on by long haul C Vid. It took a month of until I figured out what my digestive system would tolerate. It ended up being about a 90% carnivore diet as well as cutting out processed foods and my only sugar intake is from raw unfiltered local honey and local organic fruits. I've also supplemented cayenne pepper into my diet for its incredible health benefits along with many other natural "local whole foods" often times wild edibles. My cardiologist just told me last Tuesday that whatever I'm doing to not change anything and my next follow-up visit is in a year. When I first saw him he said we'd likely be in the cath lab within a week and that was been a year and a half ago. The changes I've made have been incredible. I raise almost all of the meat I eat, along with harvesting venison, rabbits, and fish to add a bit of diversity to my food intake. I follow both your channels and you are an inspiration! Thank you Shawn!
That’s awesome!

Your content is so good! I'm 55 living in MT and your content is few that I look forward to....I totally identify!
SHAWN & OUR CALI !!! These fruit trees will be great in the fall time also !!! You are protecting them for the summer & Winter time also !!! Have you thought of a pear or peach tree up north ??? I know it gets colder up there so wasn't sure of it !!! Hoping for you & the Misses the pears or peaches would be a treat for you all up there!!!
Yes they are! The peaches and nectarines are putting on fruit right now but the pears will probably be another year or two.
Always look forward to your videos
Is that product to drink certified non GMO and organically grown? Can they also certify no heavy metals, which the prior two do not test for?
Always enjoy your videos Mr James !!
Can you grow fig trees? We have blue berry bushes and 1 fig tree! Next will be apple trees!
Remember when you planted the Silver absinthe ? Can you tell a difference with the mosquitoes ? Please let me know! They are expensive on Amazon! Thanks for sharing Shawn! Blessings to you and family 🧚🏻🧚🏻🧚🏻❤️
All but one of our figs died but the one that survived is producing figs right now. The absinthe are not big enough to make a difference yet but I also ordered some seed so I can grow more cheaply.
Wow..having to register for animal food incase of a recall...says it all...I had never heard of that ..
Kabin yang kokoh, sukses selalu, salam kenal 🙏🙏
👍great video
What a good feeling, to know you could live the rest of your life, and not move!
Hey Shawn, selfish question (as Scotland has a similar climate to where you are): it'd be great to see if you've found any more perennial food-producing plants? Especially the non-obvious ones like the Jerusalem artichokes.
Additionally, if you're doing so: if you're growing any plants for medicinal uses (e.g. St John's Wort, Poppies for making pain-relief tea, white willow, etc.)? It's especially difficult for a relative novice (like myself) to know fact from fiction when it comes to herbalism - perfectly accept the argument that modern pharmaceutical companies have the incentive to ignore/hide/etc. natural remedies ... but there must be SOME scientific data to support SOME of the plants that actually work (like the ones I mentioned earlier).
We’ve pretty much removed vegetables from our diet so our perennial vegetables like asparagus, lovage, sunchokes, etc are going to the chickens and family. My wife specializes in herbalism on our homestead so we grow a lot of medicinals. I mainly use them for external healing, bug repelling, etc.
I watched one of your old videos. Spices and seasonings sometimes have a lot of sodium which can elevate Blood Pressure, peace to you and family p.S you probably know this by nowm
Fantastic news about your Dad and Mom making informed dietary changes. AG1 is definitely having many positive impacts for me as well. Thank you for your AG1 recommendation, Shawn! May I suggest you order Super Beets heart chews (by "humann" for heart health, blood pressure and circulation) for your Dad and Mom? I have been taking two tasty acai berry chews each day for about a year and have had enormous changes, lowering my blood pressure into the normal range.
Saludos apreciado amigo Shawn. Soy fiel seguidor de tu canal. Me gustaría colocar las tradiciones en español. Mis respetos y admiración para ti
Shawn
I meant to ask in the other video about the chickens. What kind of chicken feed will you be using ? A family that was using organic chicken feed and they found glyphosate in it! Homestead family. They had test run and found glyphosate was in there system! They test there soil , water and other and found out it was in there feed! Josh did a video on this! Check it out! God bless!
I’m growing my own feed
Hi all. I hope your family is well. Cali is looking good.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
👍
Very informative video as always. How do you keep the ticks off Callie?
I really like the food forest idea and how its for future generations.
Do you also have nut trees such as Walnut or Filbert trees?
No walnut but many filberts, hazelnut, oak, chestnut and others
♥️🙏
Make sure you get the ticks off of calli, like your video 😮🤗👍
How long do you have to use the protection covers on fruit trees?
You can leave them in for many years, indefinitely even. For deer protection, you can take it off once the branches are above the top, which is above their reach.
First viewer! 💪🏼
I don’t want to spend money on expensive supplements so I’m going to add a mineral lick to my diet just like our ancestors .
So will you be doing much dehydrating or canning for a lot of the fruit produce generated, and can you make your own milk or flour from the hazelnuts to give you more barter options ?
Yes, we just harvested strawberries for freeze drying today. That’s a good idea for the hazelnuts as well as ground up for the chickens.
Thanks for the video man 👍
You have to register to by chicken feed?
Just take 1 Trace Mineral tablet every day instead of expensive supplements. I do and always have excellent levels in my lab tests.
Awesome Video!
I am definitely considering a goat! The main thing that sends me to the grocery store is cheese and butter.
Are you in that heat wave in Canada? We definitely are, feels like 39°C or 109 Degrees Fahrenheit here in the Northern Bruce Peninsula. Stay cool! 😊
It’s brutally hot today.
Thank you for sharing a good video
So calming voice
Wondering what u grow to feed your chickens for winter, and how much of an area do you need to grow that year round supply
I’m trialing milo, amaranth, millet, teff, sorghum, barley, wheat, sunflowers, flint corn, buckwheat and field peas along with greens like clover, brassicas, etc. Not sure about space yet, I’ll know more after this year.
@@ShawnJames1 where do u get your non gmo seeds from if you don't mind telling me, i'm getting ready to go off grid in the next year or two and want to buy my seeds from a trusted source
Goats would be grate to see!
great! You can edit. Click the 3 dots. ^^
the homestead is maturing shawn
😁👍🏼
Out of curiosity, when you start using a spring on your property, did you/should you have the water tested to see what's in it? It's something I'd do here, just curious if it's necessary where you are.
There’s an 83 year old hunter on the adjacent hunt camp that’s had it tested a couple of times. If he hasn’t been doing that, I would.
Do you ever forage mushrooms on your property?
I love your channel & have been a long time Sub. Thanks for your generous consideration & sharing to all of us interested.
I understand the reason for the stiff tubes you surrounded your tree saplings in, but, how do they absorb sunlight when enclosed so deeply ??
Thanks again,
Sincerely .......................
They’re transparent enough that they actually act like a mini greenhouse, improving the growth
@@ShawnJames1 .... sweet !! Thanks for you generous consideration,
Sincerely ....................
God bless.
Can you have goats or sheep instead of cows? Perhaps two feeder pigs (I think that is what they are called) to raise for meat?
Why don't you have screens on your windows?
I do but right now it’s cooler inside if I keep the windows closed during the day day
Another great video, thank you for sharing. I need to contact you about another channel stealing your content. All the best and say safe Cheers from Simcoe County Ontario Canada!🍁
Thanks for the email. We and many others have reported the channel but CZcams won’t do anything about it.
@@ShawnJames1 That not right.. even yt support?
which country are you from? I really like your wooden house.
Another informative episode! Always enjoy learning what you’re doing with your property!
Register your feed....for recalls.....uh huh...
lol, exactly
HELLO
Try this (we call 'astuce de grand-mére' in Fr) :
- an air bubble down the hole (tube + stone, botlle + caps etc)
- embankment
- layer of gravel, small stones, sands ...
- fertile soil
= double growth (in theory, other factors must dépend... ?).

Hey Shawn I ordered and received my AG1. Just started my cycle this week let’s see how it goes. And Thank you
How is it with ticks in your area?
No deer ticks, just a few wood ticks and moose ticks but I’ve never had one on me.
What about Cali? She having problems with ticks and fleas?
Do you have elk down there? Elk and Moose are two of our major red meat sources. I have heard you talk about moose. But I don’t think I have heard you talk about elk. I had read quite a few years ago that elk were reintroduced out in Ontario. We have a sustainable population so far. And our family hunts Elk every fall. Usually one in the group will harvest an elk. Then we process it our selves and divide it up to those family members who participated. Unfortunately last year was the very first year no one got an elk or a moose. It is concerning. We are on the edge of the boreal here in Saskatchewan.
We have a limited elk season and I’ve only got a tag once and may never get one again.
@@ShawnJames1 awe….sorry to hear that. Honestly I don’t have a preference between the elk and the moose meat. It’s just that the elk can be easier to retrieve from the bush especially if it’s a smaller cow. Thank you so much for your teaching on growing and harvesting in the forestry. I am really enjoying it and learning a lot. 😊
I'm wondering how long you'll need to protect the apple trees from Moose and deer...
Until the lower branches are above browse height.
AG1 sounds Great , but I don't think it would work for a Diabetic ??
Thanks for sharing the Video.
I’m not sure why not, half the population is diabetic or pre-diabetic according to latest statistics.
Уже не интересно. Канал о строительстве вроде бы а сейчас слишком много разговора. А так отличный канал. 👍
Do you eat the liver from the animals you harvest? They’re very nutrient dense, like eating a multivitamin much higher bioavailability.
Yes, all,of the organs as well as organs from farmers
@@ShawnJames1 I’m going to start. I never have tried liver but keep seeing the benefits. Nervous about taste.
Shawn, I love watching both your channels and Emily as well. You always seem to have a well thought out plan although you look a little overwhelmed at times. Calie is such a ham walking into your shot with the Burr oak. lol She is definitely not camera shy.
Cananda makes you register to buy animal feed???
Welcome to the home of the free
Ser att du behöver undvara några timmar åt att hämta in veden runt nyplanterade träden .
Best guard birds one can have on an farm or as you are set up for Shawn are Geese. As they will be angry towards predators they dislike but friendle towards humans and Calli alike. Just an idea do not quote me as Canadian Geese maybe not as good as UK Geese.
What about pigs?

💖💖💖💖🙏
Is this called planting bait, then eat the baited, fair chase ?
💖🤍💖💜😇❤️❣️♥️❣️
Shameless ag1, they dont list their ingredients
You shure don’t plant very deep
The soil is not deep in that area of Canada. He’s on top of the Canadian Shield laid down by the ice age.
@@LiveFree765 I’ve always planted trees twice as deep as the ball and twice as wide. We have Horrendous wind and weather down here in E. Texas and I’ve never had one blow over. However when I do see them blow over elsewhere and the roots come with it they were planted shallow.
You can’t plant fruit trees below the graft union or the rootstock will sprout
@@ShawnJames1 what is graft union?
@@ShawnJames1 googled it and it evidently ruins the fruit.
