    Oh I forgot! You can also roast some potatoes in an aluminum basket under the chicken, and let the juices drip on the potatoes! Cut the potatoes in quarters, season them with salt, peber, thime and rosemary! That is soooo good!!👍😁😄 It takes the same amount of time for both the chicken and potatoes!

    I've had one for three or four years now. I cook our Thanksgiving turkey on it! I use two charcoal baskets, one on each side of the spit. It cooks a 16lbs. bird in about 2.5 hours. I know that sounds crazy, but trust me, it is amazing. Great flavor and VERY juicy. Meat just doesn't dry out on the rotisserie for whatever reason. So keep those lemons and use them in your Coronas! Thanks for sharing!

      What was the ambient temp when you cooked the Turkey?

    • @Shookmeister
      @Shookmeister Před rokem +1

      @@horacejones5226 I just look back at my last turkey cook on my Meater thermometer app, it showed the highest ambient temp was 325. It showed the cook was for 2 hrs & 40 mins. That was around a 16 lbs bird. I don't know how it does it, but it does. You will never want a turkey cooked any other way.

    I used mine for the first time today. All went well but it's difficult to clean up the Spitz. Also you can't snuff the fire out by putting the lid on the kettle unless you remove the rotisserie adapter first. The holes for the skewer allow to much air intake to the inside of the kettle. The coals keep on burning. I always reuse any un-burned charcoals. No need to let them burn away after the cook.

    Great looking rotisserie. Like someone else commented I to have a similar rotisserie from Cajun Bandit. Love it so much I've been thinking about getting a second one ( I have 4 webber kettles so it would be nice to be able to do rotisserie on two cookers for party's). And something I've wanted to do for a couple of years and maybe I'll do it next week is plac3 it in one of my two 22" Webber Smoky Mountain smokers. Reason is it's tall enough to keep the bird up out of possible flame ups. So I could place charcoal directly under the bird/birds ( I think if one is careful you could fit two yard birds on one spit) so as to benefit from the extra flavor from meat juices drippings on the coals. Hmmm. I don't understand why more folks don't do rotisserie. It was the original "set it and forget it " style of bbq LONG before pellet cookers came along way back in the 50's and 60's. Sir always great to see your videos. As always I'm not short on words. It must be my mostly Irish "gift of gab"😂. May you and your family have a great day. 😊🌤🍷

    why do you not put the briquets on each side using the holders?

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I debated that. My first attempt I used hardwood lump on just one side, but the fire got too hot and burned the skin. I figured using briquettes would solve that problem. Then I figured using briquettes on both sides might be about the same as the lump on one side and be too hot.

      I have my counter balance about a 1/2 centimeter from the handle. One thing about the round part that goes in front of the counter balance and rests on the ring. In this video, I have it on backwards. The locking screw should go inside the grill, so as to not touch the lid as it rotates.

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  Před 10 měsíci

      It probably can. Because of the size of the turkey though, it might be too close to the coals and burn the skin before the inside gets cooked.

    • @ilbaffonero
      @ilbaffonero Před 9 měsíci +1

      Not to butt in, but I've been doing turkeys on this same setup for about 2 or 3 years now and always have amazing results. I use the two Weber baskets and adjust the vents to avoid burning the skin. If you are buying the OnlyFire kit, do yourself a favor and get the pizza kit too. You'll thank me. I upgraded to a 9 amp motor but find that the included 4 amp is strong enough for a good sized turkey, (I've done up to 15 lbs).
