Don't let FOMO get the best of you. Play games to have fun instead of playing them to complete a checklist of choirs. #fortnite #fortniteog #jimboislost
there was a skin called the singularity and to unlock it you needed 90 fortbytes so basically 90 quests, then to unlock the full armour 100 fortbytes, and the extra colours required doing even more quests. i think this skin would count as a rare skin since you had to have dedication to go do all the quests.
OMG i remember that. I never finished the bytes though because that's around when i took a break and didn't come back until the Marvel season. I believe i only have the first style because i didn't complete it. I wish they did more quest like that
Visitor maybe can count, because the quest "Search 7 chests in Risky Reels" was extremely difficult, but I don't know if it was harder or easier than singularity styles
I think that nowadays people buy skins only to flex or hoping that one day their skins will become exclusive, but I think that if you buy a skin it's because you actually liked it and you don't care if it's exclusive or not. As you said at the end of the day, skins are only cosmetics. Good video btw.
I’m lucky and I have some pretty old battlepass skins but I don’t even wear the older one because there just no very good I wear season 5 skins but not really season 3 and 4
I think the one exception to what you said is omega with the lights Omega with the lights was not just “oh I played in season 4 and got tier 100 in the battle pass” omega with the lights was “I had the dedication to play so much fortnite that I got to level 80 when almost nobody else did” Technically it’s not skill related but I consider it a true flex because it was so hard to do (I don’t have omega with lights but I have carbide with lights)
yeah no shit That took me like 6 hours of grinding a day for 25 days or something like that, more or less the time I had since the game released on switch and till the end of the battle pass Gotta be on top with the fortbytes in the "took some big ass dedication" top 3 In other words holy shit that was nuts but it was so worth it, I love the lights way more than anything else in the game LOL
I had FOMO up until Chapter 2 season 1. Before that season I ended up unlocking literally every single battle pass skin. Then when C2S1 came out,I ended up missing out on the Scratch skin's "fully corrupted" style and I was bummed for a minute ,but eventually I realized it was a blessing because I no longer felt the need to have the perfect locker. I mean, I still unlocked every BP skin after that, but their superstyles were no longer a priority.
Leveling the battle pass chapter one was a lot harder then doing it now. Now it tells you where everything is. Now I complete all weekly quests in an hour. It also depends on what battle pass skin. Like for example omega, the omega skin isn’t much of an achievement. But maxing out the skin to get the lights was almost impossible to get. So some one who has the omega lights had to really work hard to get them. I wouldn’t call them rare skins, but definitely a challenge to complete
Geralt was kind of a pain in the butt to get if you were only playing the game casually until this point. Eventually, they gave it to everyone who had the battle pass due to an error in quest coding iirc -- my first thought wasn't "BRO THEY GAVE IT TO EVERYONE" but more like "i cant believed i busted my own balls for 3 hours straight for something that i would've gotten anyway 😿"
Challenges back than was also mandatory to level up in the battle plus the way to get the nonus skin was doing most of the weekly Challenges but not the bonus skin has its own set of Challenges you you can lecel up easily just by playing super casually.heck you dont evwn have to play battle royal you cN get more ep playing in creative now
Dead by daylight is a very good example. There are skins called legacy they were acquired by grinding the old blood web in 2016 it costed 50 mil just to get through one blood web I believe. Something happened were a lot of people lost there files so the devs suggested too have back up files. This didn’t really help so if you lost these skins in grinding that means they could not do anything to recover them. There are other skins or cosmetic pieces for individual killers and survivors that are” very rare” but they decided to give some of those to the community.
Legacy is so rare that most times people see someone using it they just automatically assume they are cheating, which is pretty fair because in my experience they usually are.
there are few skins that show your hard work actually, like purple light omega full armor skin, or full gold never skins . but talking about old battle pass skins they also show that youre a real "veteran" at the game from the first days that it launched, so thats tbh pretty cool to have too.
I think it only works that way assuming the person who wears the skin has actually actively played from every season from that point. I know a few people with Reapers in their locker who only played for a few seasons then quit and then came back a few chapters later. (or sometimes, quit altogether) so it's hard to tell whether they really played super long or just only played during that specific time frame.
I have maxed out purple light Omega, its one of my Rarest skins and I wear it all the time, however I only use it because I really like the looks. I would say Omega Knight looks much cooler but I dont have it. This video is very true though, and I agree. Good Quality
@@DDDTJ Cant find a single person wearing *MAX* Omega let alone normal Omega, not only that but I always see people saying "omg omega!" when they join my party. idk maybe chapter 2 players lol.
@@juehjuI got the mask, was so close to getting the lights too. Quick question though, how would you feel about it coming back for players who didn’t unlock all of the styles?
@@spartan-1210 Its a battlepass, nothing should come back for anything, everyone had there chance and if ya missed it oh well. I missed the robot dance in season 3 by like 2 tiers, it haunts me till this day.
I would say the kymera skin is so dumb to max out but it is somehow my favorite skin as it has unique way of customization. The issue was to make random people to hit the stupid crystal chests to get the additional styles every week
@@Knighter6i only went for the stuff i wanted and dont entirely regret it. like i have all they eyes, armor colors, and heads, but like one emblem and none of the skin colors.
@@dive.cats-i literally only went for the armour colours and emissive light colours. The back bling looks great with almost anything if you have the colour options, but I'll never understand why they made the skin's styles so hard to unlock
It shows your dedication. Max level omegas, carbides, drifts, ragnaroks, etc, they’re cosmetics that look cool but also show how hard you worked for them.
@@Aigle662frileux it’s not flexing/bragging it’s just showing that you put in the work and now you look cool. I’ve never heard anyone say O.G is pathetic until now.
the only skins/styles i would truly consider to be "Rare" are things that required an extra unlock condition beyond simply Battle Pass Progress Say for example secret skins, Visitor and such, where you had to do all the weekly challenges from the first 7 or so weeks, or maxed styles of stuff like Omega or Singularity where you had to get to Level 80 in Season 4, or collect all 100 Fortbytes in Season 9
My first ever skin was Drift. And is by far my favorite skin. However, that account is on the family PS4 account when I was little. So, now older with my own account after 3 years of not playing Fortnite and account merging not being a thing I can never really play my favorite skin. I see where it's exclusive argument has valid points but to me I always find that players would be more happy and Epic would make a lot more money if old BP skins were purchasable. Destiny 2 for example has had battlepasses for a decent while now and I have a handful of the first batch of the exclusive ornaments/skins from the first couple of seasons. Recently they did in fact release a bundle that included the ornament/skin set from the third season BP they made. The bundle was kind of poopy for the price but I saw a lot of positive feedback of D2 bringing back old ornaments/skins.
While I don't play destiny 2 myself at this point I think Epic would benefit from bringing back old battle pass skins, if they want to keep renegade and aerial rare thats fine and I think would be the only ones to stay rare.
Ya i would love for epic to bring back there older battle pass skins even if it comes in a bundle of some sort. Maybe even bring back old battle passes in general kinda like how Halo infinite does it.
@@Jimboislost I recently spoke on this and had the idea of putting a Battle Pass section of the item shop, just like the faily section, where it would include a couple full price skins, some emotes or a pickaxe. That way, the people who got it through the pass got a WAY better deal, but we can still own the cosmetics if we really want them. Literally everyone wins and Epic gets more money.
as somebody who owns tons of rare cosmetics such as renegade raider and and purple skull, i somewhat agree. stuff like maxed omega you needed to spend hours grinding to get it which invalidates your point, however i agree renegade raider looks like a homeless person
Another thing about it is when those people stop playing nobody is gonna remember as that one person who had almost every OG skin because they don't matter since it's literally just something in a game that isn't important. Plus they aren't really rare when you are able to possibly just buy someone's account that is selling it, even though they don't allow it some people still get around that. So rare skins really don't matter at all.
this happens a lot in the art industry as clothing brands are sought out just because the cost of the clothing is expensive and some people just want it because its expensive and not barely look into the art (clothing) such as supreme where it was a really nice brand until the owners of brands stop making stuff and begin making stuff blinded by money
100% ,this is true. I liked how you boiled it down to, you should just have fun no matter what skin you have. There is no need to brag about the skin if all the matters is having fun playing the game. Nicely done video.
I’d say that the reason a lot of us do value then so much is cause skins can make the game a lot more fun. We’ve all seen the memes of Joker killing goku with a lightsaber and then hitting the Griddy. Especially for collabs it can add a lot to the experience.
I joined really really late in C4 S3 and before I would watch my brother play in 2018 and I have completed every battle pass since C4 S3 and I loved most of the skins, not for their rarity, but because they looked really cool.
I agree with this. Tbh I don't mind the current monetization (maybe because I'm just more a part of the newer generation of gamers) but people act like buying into that system is cooler than it actually is. Most of the cosmetics that are considered rare don't even look good (Renegade Raider is a perfect example of this).
Funny enough the only things i got the show off that i am dedicated to fortnite are my banners, i got the level 100 banner for season 9+10 (and if u remember getting to level 80 was consider hard), and a lot of other save the world banners are that are very very time consuming, i am proud of myself for getting 'em.
I agree on the destiny part as someone who solo flawless'd spire of the watcher after an unknown amount of times. The difference between earning something that takes dedication and skill in contrast to earning something that simply only just takes time and doesn't exactly need a plan is extremely significant and in conclusion, fortnite skins don't matter at all simply because it doesn't affect the playing field at all (unless the skin is glitched but those cases are extremely rare nowadays).
I agree with a lot. When you die one day, you can't take those "rare" skins with you. We don't own anything here while we're alive. Life and time is temporary. I like to play fortnite, but I'm not gonna come off to where I feel good flexing and putting people down for the skin they have. Everything has an ending one day. That goes for fortnite as well. So overall, I agree.
A change that Apex Legends made a few years ago that I love is battle pass items aren't exclusive, they can return at any time in the shop. It's more just getting the battle pass gives it all cheaper and earlier
At this point I would want Epic to just release old battle pass skins, if people want to show their og status just use umbrellas if they care that much. I think keeping old skins rare is just dumb at this point. It would also mean account selling wouldn't be such a big thing since people could you know spend the money and get the items. When it comes to rare items I see the fortnite community as much worst because of Skull trooper getting his og style since now kids are like "LEt tHiS SkIN gET A raRe StYle!??!?!?" Like people say this should have an og style when most of them wont even get it. You made a good point when it comes to people using old skins, a lot of people will use it because of it being rare. Like my most wanted skin is omega and I don't have it, but If I did have it and all of season 4 battle pass stuff I would use it because I enjoy those items and not because their rare, my favorite emote is orange justice since it was the last item I got before that season ended.
Unfortunately Epic will never bring back old battle passes simply because it makes them a lot of money if they just released a skin similar to skins like Omega or black knight. This current season is the perfect example with them bringing back the old map and all the battle pass skins being different takes on older skins.
@@Jimboislost Oh for sure we won't probably ever see them again. I think the only reason we would is if Epic decide "hey lets make so much money in a few hours" since those would probably be some of the most bought if they did. At least that's what I think. And yes collab skins and etc exists but in terms of fortnite original skins that's what's I think could happen. Another point of them just being able to randomly bring back battle pass stuff is how rogue agent just randomly came back (which still annoys me since it was my main skin)
@@pikssy9042 I'm not crying? lmao Its the fact it was a starter and randomly got put into shop when it shouldnt have been and even then people had to buy it for 15, it was years ago and I dont care lol
You're right except for the few exceptions like full Omega or fully golden Agent Peely which required insane amounts of dedication or tournament specific skins
If only someone made a video about this 2 years ago. I had so much FOMO. This is my third season of me not giving a damn about missing out its crazy how a game can drive you crazy.
Tbh I think fortnite has a bigger skin problem which are “sweaty” skins like for some reason people buy all of these skins that are just the simplest most boring skins ever
My favorite pick ever from fortnite was from the first ever "refer a friend" event before they even had a name for it. I had no idea it actually was rare the entire time I used it because it was PC only, and incredibly difficult at the time because both you and your friend had to do the same stage before moving on.
@@filipslapoty1992 wow I didn’t know thank for the heads up “genius” he has been playing that long and his aim still that bad is all I’m saying I started in Chapter 1 Season 7 0% aim assist and my aim is better
This is probably one of the most even mannered reasonable sounding videos / takes on skin rarity that I've ever seen on this platform. It's very refreshing and I can relate to 90% of what you say. I like skins only because I like what they look like and I don't really care whether they're still obtainable, or haven't been in the shop for a long time or even have been blacklisted. I'm sure the comment section is going to be riddled with people talking about the skins that required more effort than just completing levels, but at the end of the day, it really just boils down to you played the game, you got the skin, if someone else didn't, so what? I skipped a lot of battle passes just because I simply didn't like the items in it, the ones that I completed were more because I had a lot of free time to fill, but definitely not so a few years down the road I can parade around in front of other people at party Royale to show them what they can't get. I know you mentioned that people aren't necessarily toxic about skin ownership and other cosmetics and emotes, but definitely there is a large percentage of people that are. I've been in lobby with people all they talk about the entire game is how they have this skin and how the other people in the group are trash because they don't. It's kind of sad. I've seen people who wear a certain skin for ages that hasn't been in the item shop for a while and then all of a sudden it comes back, and all of a sudden they never wave it again. What changed? Nothing, nothing at all, I personally wouldn't care if they brought back any battle pins that I have and put them in the item shop like a lot of people would. If I have it, I'll be happy that other people will get an opportunity to enjoy it as well, if I don't, it's probably because I didn't want it in the first place. Cosmetics should be about the wearer, not everybody else. If more people understood thatthey would enjoy the game a lot more and worry a lot less about what they think other people are thinking about them and their locker size/rarity.
there are a few skins which were only obtainable by competing in and placing in a specific cup, the one that comes to mind is the epicvapple cup that skin is never going to be in the item shop another is the ps5 cup exclusive
After viewing this video I agree. I used to have the mindset of "Needing a rare skin". Letme date this back to 2017, I have been playing Fortnite since season 1 of 2017. I didnt ever buy skins from all those time periods as I thought they were terrible, while I do regret not buying a couple skins I enjoy. I was at peace, until I started to feel phamo. So I had a bought an account with the seasons I missed on it dating from the season 2 battles pass to season 7. It got tooken away from me, but im glad it did. It was a big wake up call for me as in "Hey, these skins are just cosmetics that can easily be tooken." So I dropped that phase pretty quickly. Im glad that someone was actually able to say this though in a better way I could. Skins, cosmetics. They mean nothing, if you actually love a skin then you love it. Otherwise there is no point in it.
Well said dude. Unfortunately those who need to hear it the most are probably to busy having a tanty, yelling at their parents to get them more V-bucks
Agreed. Even though I really don't like playing the same skin as everyone else. I really would like for Fortnite to bring back some of the skins that were missed if we didn't play earlier seasons. Update em, merge em (Omegarok) or something; so newer players can get some of these characters.
Unavailable skins are only really "rare" in the sense that they're desirable because they haven't been available in a long time, they're essentially just a statement of when you've played, and invested money in the game. A skin can be considered rare because of several different reasons. For example, when it was last available, how it's obtained, or how difficult it is to obtain it. Agent Peely's golden agent style is a good example of a skin that's considered rare because of how difficult it was to obtain. Reaching 300 levels in any season isn't easy. At the end of the day though, they are all just cosmetics. They only hold as much value as you allow them to.
"reaching 300 levels in any season isn't easy." i wouldn't say any season, since chapter 3 every single kid who knows how to input a creative mode code will be level 1000 sadly
1:57, I agree a bit, but the black night was a skin that was actually hard to unlock because a lot of people sucked. John wick in season 3 I guess was easier to get because more challenges. But rarity makes something cool, how cool is it to see a laferrari? It’s rare so it’s cool, get me? 😂
While few people did that early in the game everyone always seem to forget you've always been able to buy tiers in the battle pass so while plenty of people did "work for it" it does detract from the overall argument about "earning it" since you could have always just bought your way to tier 70 - 100.
I agree with you that outfits don’t really mean anything other then them being rare, but the reason they have so much value is due to the same reason pawn shops and auctions are still in business. Yes they’re meaningless in an objective way of looking at it. So why do people value them? Simple because it means something to them, something you have over others gives people the delusion that they have something the average person doesn’t have. It sounds stupid but we as a community have decided long ago that the rarer something is the more value it has.
There are exclusive skins that required to make very expensive purchases to obtain and also items in save the world that you can only obtain by playing save the world. There are also a couple of items that require you to win professional tournaments
Started playing in C3S3, got bummed out by missing some cool skins but the more I play the more I realize that I'd realistically not use any of them and that I'm switching outfits all the time OG skins have no meaning, FOMO is bullshit and I'm here to enjoy the game
One of my favorite cosmetics in a game is an orange and black trophy I got for being MVP in a Paintball game long ago.. It's completely unobtainable now, and it really didn't take much skill to get, but it still holds a lot of value in my heart.. I even extracted the model and put it on one of my VRChat avatars.. It is not an item people will notice as "rare" or really notice at all, but it is one that matters to me
This definitely makes sense but i will still unlock every battlepass to atleast 100 and like some og skins like omega required an insane amount of exp where i got lv80 last day of the season
i missed the spiderman tier 100 skin, basically ter 25 onwards from chapter 3 season 2 and didn't even bought the chapter 3 season 4 battle pass. Man, this battle passes hunt me because I wanted the spiderman and gwen skin so bad
Unfortunate. Your only options now are the Miles and Tom ones i believe. I'm surprised they never added any other spiderman skins from the movie. Like the Noir one
In save the world you can earn banners though doing certain challenges like in frostnite you play to a certain round with a modifer and at the end you get a banner to show you did that. Kinda like your destiny example. While granted it isn’t a skin and most of the player base won’t know what it is, it’s a cool way to show off to the few that actually know what it is. Also in save the world you can earn pickaxes though upgrading your pickaxes. You only unlock those pickaxes though play time. Even though these aren’t skins they are a cool cosmetic to show off.
What’s funny is that there are way harder to get cosmetics like fully corrupted scratch(which I own) + you could say literally every skin is “rare” because they are not able to be bought again after the battle pass ends
that skin is not rare you need to reach lvl 110 thats easy af and you could just buy to tier 100 and play 2 rounds every fortnite skin is easy to get this game has no hard to achieve skins
Really can’t quite grasp your point here, sure, they weren’t that hard to get in most cases, but they are still rare, they are never coming back and haven’t for 5+ years. Also, I’m glad I found someone else who actually liked chapter 2’s map 😂
imo it isn't about being rare. back in season 3 it was if they have a high tier or old skin, you know they've been playing for a while so you know they are probably going to demolish you. unless you've been playing for a while to but you def wont think they arnt good if they been playing for that long also some people like to sell their accounts which then it does matter cause rare always equals expensive (even tho its against the rules)
I stopped getting tier 100 after season 9 because I lost interest. I started maxing out BPs because I missed out on getting the battle pass in season 2 and didn’t finish season 3. One thing I do regret though was not getting carbide and omega lights 😔
Paradigm, only out for like a week and it was specifically stated that it'll never be released again, it was released season X though so depends, plus its a good looking skin
when i got stray i wore it often because it looks very similar to drift, which i like and missed out on. my friend owned drift and would wear it whenever i wore stray just to try and put himself above me. he did not like drift and he was always complaining about it being bulky though he insisted that drift was better than stray (less bulky version of drift) just because it was rare and old.
this is why I like having Black Knight, because it was the first of the first of the battlepasses, even tho there was only 70 tiers, no one played enough, plus it looks cool asf, only one i honestly used.
In my opinion most battle pass skins aren't even rare, if you think about it yeah they never return but the battle pass system is so popular and so many people buy the battle passes, the only battle pass I consider kinda rare is chapter 1 season 2.
I own Ghoul trooper which a skin that tecnically is "old" from fortnite's first halloween but I never played on that time so I dont own the "OG" variant, and the skin still comes back on halloween And I find it stupid that they gatekeep skins just because u were late on playing and that's why I hate battlepasses in every game I play, I still buy them because I know ill never get the skin if I don't but I just wanna buy a cosmetic I like and call it a day, and if they keep going the battlepass route just do it like Halo: Infinite and allow for people to just buy it even after it goes away
@@pedri5541 I mean Halo Infinite does it perfectly by allowing you to buy them whenever you want and you can activate the certain battlepass you wanna level up to progress it and no one has complained about it, why other games can't? and the only reason battlepasses go away and never return is because of FOMO and player retention the companies do to maintain the games relevant
my life goal is to draw and animate, and at the peak of my craft I want to create a character that people love like I love Toji from Jujutsu Kaisen, Deku from BNHA, Roland from Library of Ruina, just my little life story but my point is, I don't care if my skins matter something for the community, if Im OG or not, as long as they matter to me
My Fav. Skin is my Rare OG Purple Skulltrooper! It was my 2nd Skin i've purchased back then. Most of the time i wear this Skin because it looks cool and it's my Favorite! Of course i also wearing it because of the "OG Only" Purple Skulltrooper Design option that Epic released to honor the players who purchased it back in 2017. (Fortnite Season 1) BUT that doesn't mean i only wear this skin, i also wear other skins i like and aren't rare.
This is how people should look at it. Yeah you are going to wear this skin makes sense but if you aren't just running that one skin 24/7 I think is a better overall (if what I said makes any sense lmao)
I feel like Omega is the only tier 100 who really does matter because the other ones were just getting xp or getting to outlast opponents a certain number of times, don't get me wrong, it did require you to get xp to get his styles and lights but for him, it took a lot of playing to earn his styles while for other tier 100s, you just had to get xp and even if you didn't complete the skin during that season, you could complete it next season anyway (which btw, was a great feature). But that's just my take on this problem.
I got his full armor but never managed to get his lights. I would say getting his helmet was a miracle, I started on Week 4 or 5 of season 4 and it was a massive grind to reach level 100 back then, I think the only reason I even got to his helmet at level 55 or something was because I played a LOT with people who had the 125% XP boost... sure, I wish I had the lights but y'know. it was basically impossible for me.
I sort of agree however, I’d say that there is at least 1 more skin that could be considered hard to get from an early battlepass: ragnarok, for context the Xp needed for omega’s maxed out lights was around 532000 XP to get to it’s final state, however with ragnarok you would need 500000 XP for it’s final stage with his glowing skull, this makes me think that even if it was easier to get ragnarok it would still show a lot of effort being put in to accuire the final level of the skin just like omega did
honestly i think this was the exact point Tfue was trying to make all those year backs with the not buying cosmetics thing after his og account got banned. And also because in that era people made so much fun of people who didnt have skins like oh my god.
I've never thought of the rarity status flex as a form of influenced FOMO. For me it was always about the personal value of the items that I bought, aka I just bought my favorites. it's nice to know these days that i end up enjoying fortnite's seasons so much that I reach close to tier 100 without even wanting to purchase it, that is a great feeling. The only pass i wish i could have acquired before its season's end was chapter 2 season 3. the live event was one of the greatest lore wise, the map change where the storm border became an ocean for a few days, and tropical/Water themed items in general are always a lot of fun. i agree so much with battle passes being a time consuming effort though, it's a shame that these companies don't introduce more consumer friendly methods of allowing players to earn cosmetics after their event time frame has ended. also Fortnite's superhero skins are atrocious (the ones where it's just a full body skintight suit), if those are your favorites then you don't have good tastes.
Yeah I’ve never understood the hype behind the superhero skins, also the hype behind renegade raider because it’s not that good of a skin only because it hasn’t been in the item shop for years
I agree, 99.9% of skins are not special. The Indigo Kuno would be an exception since it was completely merit based. Only several thousand have her from the tournament played. Also, anyone who has put a lot of money into the game is not going to get it back.
@@amazoring8269 yeah that still doesn’t answer my question. You had to compete for other fncs items like indigo but they came back and nobody cared if u got a free fncs item that’s gonna come to the shop in the future. So people only care about the skin not how good you are. But the skin itself isn’t all that since all you are getting is a skin and gain nothing out of it only to show off unlike the fncs pickaxe. Actually nvm I sound slow rn actually I forgot you could sell the skin 💀💀🤣
I feel like some collab skins will always have their copium moment until they release a new variant of the skin like the new iron man zero bundle, I personally would love a Superman comic skin with cel shade like the animated movies/show
aw bro rare item shop skins hurt so badly. 😭 basically me and my bro were playing and he pulls out the black widow skin, which hadn't came out since season 8, and im like "wow rare skin!" then, no joke, the next day it comes into the item shop. my friend pretended like he didnt care but i could tell he was dying inside cause of that.
I would say the exception is Exclusive skins, skins like Galaxy, Ikonik, Double Helix, Dark Vertex and many others, cosmetics which you have to purchase an expensive physical item to redeem (typically would have been a console or phone but there were some other more niche cases).
@@justme-oq9qm Well tbh the offer other things with new gen consoles....like on ps5 they give u some new styles for game series skins like the armored style for kratos skin.....which is only for ps5 users
I agree with you. Personally, for me I buy and use skins because I like them. How others perceive skins, mine or others, is none of my concern. Yes. I like playing as Princess Lexa, but I didn't get crew because I wanted to hold that over someone or because I'm a sweat. I just liked her vibe. People act like BP and Crew skins are some kind of status symbol, when they really aren't. It's dumb. I don't care. No one cares. The issue is that people think there's value in things where there truly isn't. Its a coping mechanism to justify the time and money they spent, nothing more.
I agree with most of your comment, however I disagree with the there isn't value to a skin part. I've scrolled past many looking for group posts on Xbox were someone would buy your account just for having a couple of rare skins or someone offering to sell their account for a lot of money. People are crazy for those rare skins, I once saw a post offering $250 just for a Black Knight skin, maybe more. Now I don't browse the LFGP anymore, but I'm fairly certain people like that still exist. People be crazy
You have really good points, but missing out on omega lights when you're only a couple thousand xp away kinda hurts. Because I actually like the omega lights and would've equipped them even if they weren't rare. eh you live you learn.
Wish I finished the season 4 battle pass, at the time I had a glitch where I couldn't claim challenges (console player at the time) and once I got it fixed it was the next season already.
Another skin that actually took a bit of effort was Black Knight. You had to be consistent or really good. I was the former because I abused the daily bp tier system through dailies. One of my favorite skins and I just like the knight skins. Tho also, I like a lot of the older skins just because they have nolstalgia and a unique vibe to them. Like space jonesy
Tbh Drift was my first ever Skin in Fortnite in general and he is my favorite Skin ever since, I also appreciate all the Spin-Off Skins of him that came out like Summer Drift or Driftwalker, but I don't enjoy to brag with it, I just genuinely love Drift's design.
Heres an opinion don't release old outfits bc they already did that and got flamed for it but a work around could be letting people level up their battle pass that they already bought just that people who didn't can't.
only time i worry about the BP is when it has one character i really wanna get like Gwen or Darth Vader, i maxed out those seasons way beyond any other season i had done at the time and i just haven't cared that much since lol
Battlepass skins do not come back. Furthermore its just a collector type of thing and having something new players or ppl who missed it never got. Thats all it is.. people like to have rich accounts
this seasons battle pass was way to quick. i remember the old mystery challengeds for the special skin in the older battlepasses being a lot better or i just remember it differently
there was a skin called the singularity and to unlock it you needed 90 fortbytes so basically 90 quests, then to unlock the full armour 100 fortbytes, and the extra colours required doing even more quests. i think this skin would count as a rare skin since you had to have dedication to go do all the quests.
i can agree with that because i have it maxed
OMG i remember that. I never finished the bytes though because that's around when i took a break and didn't come back until the Marvel season. I believe i only have the first style because i didn't complete it.
I wish they did more quest like that

Omega with the lights was not just “oh I played in season 4 and got tier 100 in the battle pass” omega with the lights was “I had the dedication to play so much fortnite that I got to level 80 when almost nobody else did”
Technically it’s not skill related but I consider it a true flex because it was so hard to do (I don’t have omega with lights but I have carbide with lights)

This is exactly how I felt too, glad im not the only one hahaha
Same, I didn’t finish and even get the ch4 s2+3 pases

iirc Scratch doesnt have a fully corrupted style. Its just a corrupted style that gets more corrupted overtime with your level.
i got scratch's corrupted variant and barely played. chic was way better looking wish i got that
Leveling the battle pass chapter one was a lot harder then doing it now.
Challenges back than was also mandatory to level up in the battle plus the way to get the nonus skin was doing most of the weekly Challenges but not the bonus skin has its own set of Challenges you you can lecel up easily just by playing super casually.heck you dont evwn have to play battle royal you cN get more ep playing in creative now
Season 2 didn't have weeklies, so getting tier 70 was impossible if u bought the pass with 1/3 of the time left was impossible. @@jeremybottoms7619
But if you do see a survivor or killer with legacy skins you know they are a og pretty rare to see though
As a DbD player, Personally, I like charms. I feel like there are definitely rare charms in the game.
@@enderjackgamingdbd is the only game where charms are actually cool
Legacy is so rare that most times people see someone using it they just automatically assume they are cheating, which is pretty fair because in my experience they usually are.
Hackers can so easily obtain those skins tho
there are few skins that show your hard work actually, like purple light omega full armor skin, or full gold never skins . but talking about old battle pass skins they also show that youre a real "veteran" at the game from the first days that it launched, so thats tbh pretty cool to have too.

Say for example secret skins, Visitor and such, where you had to do all the weekly challenges from the first 7 or so weeks, or maxed styles of stuff like Omega or Singularity where you had to get to Level 80 in Season 4, or collect all 100 Fortbytes in Season 9
True you also could never straight up buy them like you could battle bass tiers

Would you consider Deadpool secret skin from Chapter 2 season 1 rare??

They are supposed to be cool and to just enjoy using.
Albeit CH4 skins are now definitely not rare, but still.
If I like it, I'll use it.
Epic should start not caring about rare skins or battle pass skins no skin should be locked behind a battle pass anymore
we had to go through hell and back to get full armor omega 🤣🤣 really good video though i 100% agree with you.
This is a better thing to be rare imo
I agree on the destiny part as someone who solo flawless'd spire of the watcher after an unknown amount of times. The difference between earning something that takes dedication and skill in contrast to earning something that simply only just takes time and doesn't exactly need a plan is extremely significant and in conclusion, fortnite skins don't matter at all simply because it doesn't affect the playing field at all (unless the skin is glitched but those cases are extremely rare nowadays).
Spire of the watcher is Hard as f, but I love it tho.
The only hard solo flaw dungeon is ghost because of the moths
I agree with a lot. When you die one day, you can't take those "rare" skins with you. We don't own anything here while we're alive. Life and time is temporary. I like to play fortnite, but I'm not gonna come off to where I feel good flexing and putting people down for the skin they have. Everything has an ending one day. That goes for fortnite as well. So overall, I agree.
A change that Apex Legends made a few years ago that I love is battle pass items aren't exclusive, they can return at any time in the shop. It's more just getting the battle pass gives it all cheaper and earlier
How dare you. I would choose fortnite over ending world hunger. I was playing fortnite as I was in my mothers womb. HOW DARE YOU!
Agreed

Nothing, nothing at all,
I personally wouldn't care if they brought back any battle pins that I have and put them in the item shop like a lot of people would. If I have it, I'll be happy that other people will get an opportunity to enjoy it as well, if I don't, it's probably because I didn't want it in the first place. Cosmetics should be about the wearer, not everybody else. If more people understood thatthey would enjoy the game a lot more and worry a lot less about what they think other people are thinking about them and their locker size/rarity.
there are a few skins which were only obtainable by competing in and placing in a specific cup, the one that comes to mind is the epicvapple cup that skin is never going to be in the item shop
another is the ps5 cup exclusive

People just feel the NEED to own skins otherwise they'll die IRL.
@@DDDTJ no on talked about you
@@LevonMSF ok?I Iiterally only stated that I wasn’t broke, read the goddamn sentence before u start sayin random bullshit
@@DDDTJ sound like you’re compensating for something
I wish more people would realize this. 👍
Saves u stress, time and money
when i got stray i wore it often because it looks very similar to drift, which i like and missed out on. my friend owned drift and would wear it whenever i wore stray just to try and put himself above me. he did not like drift and he was always complaining about it being bulky though he insisted that drift was better than stray (less bulky version of drift) just because it was rare and old.
this is why I like having Black Knight, because it was the first of the first of the battlepasses, even tho there was only 70 tiers, no one played enough, plus it looks cool asf, only one i honestly used.
In my opinion most battle pass skins aren't even rare, if you think about it yeah they never return but the battle pass system is so popular and so many people buy the battle passes, the only battle pass I consider kinda rare is chapter 1 season 2.
I own Ghoul trooper which a skin that tecnically is "old" from fortnite's first halloween but I never played on that time so I dont own the "OG" variant, and the skin still comes back on halloween
And I find it stupid that they gatekeep skins just because u were late on playing and that's why I hate battlepasses in every game I play, I still buy them because I know ill never get the skin if I don't but I just wanna buy a cosmetic I like and call it a day, and if they keep going the battlepass route just do it like Halo: Infinite and allow for people to just buy it even after it goes away
why should you be able to buy it even after it goes away takes away all the grind and point of a battle pass
They only thing I hate is that an edited style being locked after the season ends.
my life goal is to draw and animate, and at the peak of my craft I want to create a character that people love like I love Toji from Jujutsu Kaisen, Deku from BNHA, Roland from Library of Ruina, just my little life story but my point is, I don't care if my skins matter something for the community, if Im OG or not, as long as they matter to me
Agree
My favorite skin is sparkle specialist it's my main skin I love it so much idc that it's rare I love the old default design to it and everything
Frrr it’s my favorite skin because I actually had to earn it unlike every other skin
And max singularity imo
I got his full armor but never managed to get his lights. I would say getting his helmet was a miracle, I started on Week 4 or 5 of season 4 and it was a massive grind to reach level 100 back then, I think the only reason I even got to his helmet at level 55 or something was because I played a LOT with people who had the 125% XP boost... sure, I wish I had the lights but y'know. it was basically impossible for me.
I sort of agree however,
I’d say that there is at least 1 more skin that could be considered hard to get from an early battlepass: ragnarok, for context the Xp needed for omega’s maxed out lights was around 532000 XP to get to it’s final state, however with ragnarok you would need 500000 XP for it’s final stage with his glowing skull, this makes me think that even if it was easier to get ragnarok it would still show a lot of effort being put in to accuire the final level of the skin just like omega did
The unlocking styles after season end was limited to chapter 1 season 7 I think
3:14 i play destiny 2 aswell haha and the first thing i thought of when u said about live service games was exactly that
honestly i think this was the exact point Tfue was trying to make all those year backs with the not buying cosmetics thing after his og account got banned.
Fncs pickaxe is the only cosmetic to be bragging about blue indigo whatever it’s just another reskin
@@Hxnnah884 that less than 0.0000000000001 percent of players have.
I wish they would do more of these tournament skins
@@Hxnnah884it shows you are good at the game. The skin isn’t special itself.
In my opinion black knight shows how much you played the game he was hard to get i managed to unlock on last day of season 2
@@simonshura9144 yeah ik and if people did they are sad fucks 🤣🤣
yea there was no weekly challenges until season 3 so that made it really hard to level up i got black knight a couple of days before the season ended
Wasn't that hard you could've bought tiers
I would say the exception is Exclusive skins, skins like Galaxy, Ikonik, Double Helix, Dark Vertex and many others, cosmetics which you have to purchase an expensive physical item to redeem (typically would have been a console or phone but there were some other more niche cases).
Because u bought a hole console for them specifically?
Well no still a sht ton of people own them
They should offer those with new gen consoles tbh
@@justme-oq9qm Well tbh the offer other things with new gen consoles....like on ps5 they give u some new styles for game series skins like the armored style for kratos skin.....which is only for ps5 users
@@care1essguy they just started to give those on ps4 aswell
I completely agree ngl, although I do personally prefer the older skins to the newer ones.
I'm just glad I have Drift and Haven, literally the skin I started playing for and the skin I came back for after I stopped playing
Two solid skins
Canadian alpine ace (male) is my go to skin ever since it was released. My favorite pickaxe is the snowplower
Like space jonesy
i feel like this is such a drawn out version of, "i dont see value in the thing i bought and i have no reason why"
Atleast he can stress over other things in life ikr 😂
As someone who joined in chapter 2 and spent 2 years there I am also very fond of it. Good taste.
Tbh Drift was my first ever Skin in Fortnite in general and he is my favorite Skin ever since, I also appreciate all the Spin-Off Skins of him that came out like Summer Drift or Driftwalker, but I don't enjoy to brag with it, I just genuinely love Drift's design.
cope
I thought that first too based but no
He genuinely does not care, also that is the right mindset to have also saves u alot of stress, time and money 😂
Heres an opinion don't release old outfits bc they already did that and got flamed for it but a work around could be letting people level up their battle pass that they already bought just that people who didn't can't.
What skin are you talking about? I have an idea but I don't remember which one you could be talking about
All old outfits from battle pass to wenegade waider they should never release them again
@@diddles0808 I mean what skin are you talking about that got rereleased and people got mad about?
@lukenerdy skull trooper elf ghoul trooper and gingy I remember everyone hated it
@@diddles0808 I mean skull I get, ghoul fair but gingy eh idk, and elf was because they put it into a bundle instead of just straight into shop
only time i worry about the BP is when it has one character i really wanna get like Gwen or Darth Vader, i maxed out those seasons way beyond any other season i had done at the time and i just haven't cared that much since lol
Whats worse is that they make these battlepass skins never return, so if someone plays later on and loves drift, They cant ever get him.
I whould say i have rare skin's but i don't care too much about it I'm happy i got lynx she is the best
She definitely is the 😏🤭 thiccest bp skin of alltime
Battlepass skins do not come back. Furthermore its just a collector type of thing and having something new players or ppl who missed it never got. Thats all it is.. people like to have rich accounts
Bro the Omega and the grove jam would make me happy
this seasons battle pass was way to quick. i remember the old mystery challengeds for the special skin in the older battlepasses being a lot better or i just remember it differently
