This is longer than a Short and my brain can’t cope.
*screw shorts*
Zoomer Brainrot attention span has taken another victim
just copy the url and put '/shorts/' instead of '/watch'
@@TheDiamondBladeHD it’s us behs players…we can only deal with the length of Danny’s usual uploads.
Shorts are the worst thing on CZcams. If your brain is so fried on them you can't have the basic attention span to consume yt in how it's meant to be, then get off the platform. Zoomer.
The Stranglers opening was nice
Fellow bradfordian and bass enthusiast, I best get practicing. Well done for not selling out ! Up the bantams !!!!🐔❤️
Thanks for playing the bass for us.
Wow! Thank you!
@@DannySapkoyou’re very welcome. In honor of my cousin who is no longer with us but inspired me to pick it up. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoner_(bass_guitarist)
I did a 4 string with an old guitar. Made it fretless and rounded the neck edges, It's my favorite instrument now.
first time I've seen someone use a Bass-VI type instrument in a basslike and guitarlike manner AT THE SAME TIME. really cool!!
I think the Cure did that sort or thing well with the bass VI a lot too, especially on “To Wish Impossible Things”, one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard
You should check out Charlie Hunter's playing. It's not a Bass Vi type instrument he plays but he does play both lead and bass at once on the same instrument. Crazy talented dude.
you can tighten the spring claw in the cavity on the back or the guitar or even add more springs to it to get the bridge to settle down.
Or just wedge it from inside the cavity. I found a d10 from a set of RPG dice works perfectly in my S-type when I want to essentially make it a hardtail. Maybe it won't work for everyone but it's super cheap to find out.
I do respect the integrity of not endorsing the world of mega clan battles mobile game. Thing is...the less you promote, the more valuable it is when you DO promote something.
the "whateva" at the end came from the hearth lmao
Never noticed the Prince tattoo, nice :)
As a black and homosexual transgender African American muslim I love Prince
You inspired me to play the bass; it has changed my life and I want to do it for a living now! I can't thank you enough for giving me the push.
Thank you for fixing this guitar 🙏
love the long form videos.. MORE PLEASE !!!!
Thanks!
this guys humor is unmatched and i love it
Danny, the Charles impression! 🤣
Can't put a price on your humour or intergrity, but here's a small contribution from Scotland...
I'm sure there's a stereotype joke in there, somewhere!
I love the longer videos Danny.
i love you danny sapko
Either block the tremolo or add more/stronger springs and the bridge will sort itself out. that would also lower the action just a bit by lowering the bridge saddles.
🤣How funny and nice you are Danny! Can't stop laughing!!!
A Bass VI.
I dunno about a battle or a fight, but would love to see a collab between you and Charles. Twin Behs!!
Sounds good to me, Danny. Up the tension on the bridge springs and get a block of wood in from underneath to "block off" the tremolo bridge. Remember that the higher the action, the more upward stress is put on the neck.
One good reason for not doing this to a Fender Strat is that a major instrument vendor whose name vaguely rhymes with "Hear Your Music" sells an excellent bass VI like this at a very affordable price under a brand name that rhymes with "PubHero".
Was also going to recommend the block of wood it should help.
Danny used to do their demos, so maybe they could hook him up
G4m sound like they would make borderline scam and fairly faulty products straight from beijing, but honestly, there's worse out there.
That sounds awesome Danny. Perfect instrument for those who love the guitar and bass but can't decide what they wanna play. It would work great in a 3 piece
Nice on Danny 🤘
#Danny Sapko.
Just a slightly strange northern guy making his way.
You’re epic dude, respect from Portsmouth. 🤝
Pretty cool, man! Take the springs off of the trem and stuff a stack of quarters (or bits or whatever you guys use) between the trem block and the body. It will make the bridge lie flat. I did this on my strat to increase sustain.
I fixed my strat by buying a tele ;)
You have a great self-deprecating manner, Danny. You're a very funny comedian and a genuinely nice guy. You're quite a decent behs player too!
Take out the wammy bar, glue a block of wood in the brudge cavity's and get a fixed bridge. Or if you still want a wammy you could attempt putting a bigsby in
I converted a bronco bass to a bass vi. Filled the original tuner holes, and re drilled for some Squier VI tuners. Didn’t wanna deal with a trem, so I found a toronado bridge that fit exactly where the bronco bridge sat. I did have to widen the holes in the bridge and make it string through. Amazon sells a string through bar so you don’t have to worry as much about wonky ferrules.
Pretty cool bass .
JJ was my inspiration for picking up the bass. Saw The Stranglers a few times 83 - 85. Hammersmith Odeon was a riot (the seating got ripped out!). Happy times.
Thanks
I was actually inspired by your short and did this with my first guitar, which i've barely touched since i was 15. Now i play it frequently. Little thing produces some nice tones! There were already many dysfunctional things about it, so i figured that it might as well be a disfunctional BASS. It's nice to play it again after it had been sitting around unused for so long :)
Gonna be honest, I prefer the long form videos over the shorts. I get it however. New member here, hopin you keep the BEHS coming man.
Always nice to hear the Stranglers get some love. Mr Burnel has been my biggest bass hero ever since I saw them live back in my impressionable teenage years. Now just strap on your (horrifically mutilated) guitar and we'll play some rock and roll
No! Don't do that!
It's the worst crime that we ever did
there was this very very wise finnish musician who once said that "you buy instruments you don't sell them" in finnish "soittimia ostetaan eikä myydä" and i think that is a really good rule
Danny i challenge you to get a talkbox for your bass guitars try playing slap Bass with the talkbox in your mouth your vids are off the chain dude
I kinda did this with s banjo and fell in love with it
i feel like the lights going out will be a reoccurring gag on this channel
lmfao…that Strat is about to blow!!! How the heck is the nut holding?? 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸
the day the bridge gives up it is going to explode and destroy everything in a 2 meters radius
You're a legend Danny. Keep up the greatness!
Love the videos Danny!
That sounds incredible
Great channel old lad... Keep up the good work..
Lol, the light constantly turning itself off was epic. It wanted it's own spot on your video.
Having Danny just stand around and talk for a bit is so fun to watch
Coverted daughter's 24" scale guitar into a 4 string bass when she decided to come to the right side... she loves it and it makes for a great starter bass...
Do Danny sapko’s bass tone
He did
Hey man, that was a really fun video, much love!
I love how honest this is.
If you decide to block the bridge, I found one really easy and quite reversible way to do it: dice! Find one that fits or make one fit by sanding it down. The density somehow seems really well-matched to the wood it's blocked against. I'd normally recommend getting a cheap sacrificial back cover plate you don't mind cutting a hole in, so you can insert or yank the block, but I don't think you'd be enabling the floating bridge any time soon. Set it and forget it is probably perfect for you.
Cheers! 🍻
Danny can play. He's honest and cool as an iceberg, and can wind up a Rickenbacker ♠️
Ahhh Peaches on the Beaches maan
✌🏽
danny sapko i just got to the part of the video where you talked about money, i love you man this is all i can afford atm, take care :)
Add an extra spring or two to the trem,
Should have used a Telecaster. Although that would also be sacrilege.
Great for when you want your guitar to sound like a vaporwave remix of a guitar
Thanks for the Stranglers bit.
Daniel when is the 5 string video coming? The people will not forget 😉
They sell higher tension trem springs. Replace the strings on the back with 5 of them bad boys, and that will help bring the bridge closer to its natural level.
Dziękujemy.
Effin funny mate, the way that the things that you covered I see in me. I have always worn a Greek fisherman's hat since being a kid, people always thought that I was bald. I always made an exaggerated show of taking it off briefly through a gig to complain of the bloody heat and ran my fingers through my hair dramatically. I have always been flamboyant in the clothes I wear (in the main). There has never been a venue that some two hat hasn't wanted to kick my arse for being a raving poof (I am not, not that it should matter), married for 35 years, two adult children. Finally, two years ago, I did exactly the same thing with a strat, 😊, great fun 😁, I too did not think that it would stand up to the tension, but so far it has, 🤞.
Like deployed 🤞
When I was 13 I started learning to play bass but I didnt have one.
My mom had an old Gibson acoustic guitar that I converted to a bass.
Took the high E and B strings off and that was how I learned to play bass.
Learned from Grand funk, James Gang, Sabath, anything that had a loud bass in the mix.
Alright. Enough's enough. It's time for Dinosaur Jr. Bass tone.
Those boxing moves weren’t a one off. Multi talented
Sick BEHS Brah!!!
CAN THIS GUITAR BE SAVED?
Here's what I would do:
1) tighten the trem springs, then block off the trem with a piece of wood.
2) replace your tuners with Bass VI compatible tuners . No more vice grips!
3) replace wood screws holding on neck with machine screws and inserts installed in the neck. Not only is this stronger, you might get some added sustain.
4) if possible, install a metal plate on the upper wall of the neck pickup cavity to reinforce it.
why did you sold that Bass VI , that's how I discovered you back in 2018
cool vid I been thinking about doing that to a guitar all week, glad I get to hear it from you lol !
+1 for blocking off trem. I might try this on one of mine too!
nice stranglers cover there
Sounds pretty good to me Danny.
You and Charles should have an "accent-off"...
can put some stacks of coins or a block of very hard wood behind the trem block to hold it in place.
@ 4:50 FUCK YEAH! 👍😎👍
Although it was beyond amusing to see the lights constantly winking out, here's a few quid (you "blokes" still say that, right?) to keep them on. Keep up the great work!
Been waiting for a while to hear you play one of JJB's basslines, have a pint and a packet of crisps on me
Literally subbed for the Stranglers
Day 34 of asking for Audi Pitres bass tone from Acid Bath
More springs or stronger springs
Wow, it's Danny Knopfler, using those fingers & all that! Well done, sir.
Sounds awesome! You could use a furring strip cut-off for behind the trem block underneath the bridge to hard-tail it. As for the neck maybe add a screw or two? Can't imagine your scarf joint will be too pleased with the extra tension though.
Sounds great. You're a fine player. Doug Pinnick Kings X bass tone please. Is it possible on a 4-string?
Would definitely love to see a behs battle with Charles.
Danny I usually mess up putting my rotosound’s like ripping the red threads, could you make a video on how you put strings on your bass since your always changing them
NOW WE NEED A HAT OPDATE!!!
Punks not dead!!! 🤘🤘🤘 keep it up!!!
CZcams needs more honest people like you, I'll give you a tip whenever I can even if it's not much, I hope that it helps!
Nice, it sounds great I will try one day to convert a guitar in to a bass, the problem with the bridge is that is a floating bridge, maybe if you bolt it to a steel plate and that plate to the body will fix the problem, in my case I will make a bridge from zero (I work on a machining shop) with the same size and string spacing
Just weld the bridge to the wooden body. It has worked every time I've tried it.
Wotz wrang wit yousing nails or shrews?
@@BellsCuriosityShop In case nails or screws mess up the insides innit
Why does this comment section sounds so British…
@@AdamRocksOut who said anythin bout bein british lad
@@SeanSMST oi mate fancy a bloody spot o tea and crrompets on chewsday?
My thought is to replace the bridge with a hard tail. I know that some people have the tremolo "blocked" (I'm not sure if that term is correct) to act as a hard tail but, I don't know if it would make that any more stable.
Also, I ordered a bass strap yesterday. So, I saw this with the link a tad too late.
I turned a Squier sonic strat into a bass with a neck from retrovibe, sounds wild.
Get a a VI neck off Fender for it. Or go nuts and get an Aluminium one from Baguley or Tttides
Mate ,I like your style 😎🎸👍
Love the sound from it though .
Can you do peter hook from joy divison
Danny "I'm going to tell you why not to do this." Me: *listens to 6 string picolo bass* "I want to do that"
Open up the back of that Strat, loosen the strings and block off the space between the bridge and the back of the routed out area so the bridge can't lift up. Should do a lot to keep the tuning from going out too.
Step 1 . Slacken strings.
Step.2. tighten the two screws in the string claw right up, according to how it goes.
Step 3. Remove some a spring or more from the claw.. plus as everyone else said , put a stopper between the sting block and the wood in the term cavity.
The thing has a unique behs tone, I sort of like it, possibly the scale length is too short to sound like a "proper" slap.fiddle.
Cheers.
