    I saw Motorhead & Anthrax at Brixton Academy back in 2012.
    My ears are still ringing from that night.

    Saw that show Saturday. By song 3 of Ministry's set I was sure I was suffering permanent damage. 37 years of shows and 100% the loudest band I have ever seen..

    Believe it or not the loudest show I saw besides maybe ACDC and Motorhead was The Black Crowes around 2006. They were smokin around that time def left a huge impression on me.

    I saw Gary Numan live on Clapham Common about 10 years ago and even then he was the loudest thing ever!!

      I miss concerts on the Common. Haven't heard of any in recent years.

    Alot of ear danage comes from distortion and piled frequences that disrupt each other, not just pure volume.

    Big fan of early Gary Numan. Loudest band ever for me was Motorhead circa 1980, original line up, Dunstable Queensway Hall, UK. So satisfying to play there myself 3 or 4 years later. I've been lucky with my ears. Totally took them for granted. Lost a bit of top end, 7k & above, but not really got any worse. Nice one, look after your lugs brother.

    Oh man.. I agree with you 1000% when you say Ministry is a LOUD band. I saw them here in my city around '15 and you are NOT kidding about them being ridiculously loud. I went with a cousin of mine and I even remember plugging my ears with my fingers cause it got to the point of being uncomfortable and annoying even.
    Don't get me wrong, my cousin and I both love Ministry but, that show was WAY too loud. The first band was a band called The Hunger and they were as you say Gary Numan was - loud but, a moderate and "normal" loud. When Ministry came on, we were expecting the same level of loudness from them but, it's as if someone just snuck in prior to them playing and just turned all the knobs on the house board to 12. It was insane.
    The second loudest show was when me and my cousin (same one) went to watch a Post Punk/Vaporwave band called Drab Majesty in Tucson, AZ. It was pretty much the same thing that happened. Opening band was at a decent and normal volume, then Drab Majesty comes on and just played at a ridiculous level. My cousin stayed upfront but, after a coulple songs, I had to go to the back. Luckily, it was an open air venue so, the loudness dissipated quite a bit at the back. Eventually, even my cousin decided to join me. It was INSANE loud.
    I'm happy that all the other shows and festivals I've been to have all been played at a moderately loud volume. I can't and won't do INSANE loud anymore...
    By the way, I love Gary Numan too! Quite literally was the artist my young ears first ever really paid any attention to at around 6-7 yrs. old when I first heard _'Cars',_ which was playing from an open window of a house I was passing by. Honestly, I was hooked since then and been a fan ever since... 👍👌✌️

    I recently saw Queensryche with Marty Friedman and Trauma. It was extremely loud, especially Trauma. My ears were messed up for about 24 hours. Marty Friedman’s volume was about right.

    • @progrockjock
      @progrockjock  Před rokem +1

      I figured Queensryche would've gotten over the high-volume concerts by now and I didn't even know Trauma reformed!! I was following Marty Friedman and Jason Becker back in 1988, as well as many other Shrapnel Records recording artists but so far, I've only seen Yngwie Malmsteen and Tony MacAlpine live.

      @rle440 Před rokem

      @@progrockjock yeah I was surprised at how loud it was. I was envious of the people that I saw using earplugs but it was still a great show. I think there is only one original guy in Trauma but they were good heavy thrash, in the Testament vein with higher pitched vocals .

    I'm seeing this match up with Minstry and Gary Numan and some concerts say Ministry and others say Ministry and Gary Numan. In Toronto, it's Ministry but no Gary Numan. I'd wanted to see Numan. I guess he's not coming.

    Just went without earplugs
    I’m 15 and have gone to about 150 concerts and nothing was louder.
    I’m going to bad religion in 2 days!

      Wow! 150 concerts by the age of 15 is very impressive!! I think I had attended maybe 50 concerts by age 16. I saw Bad Religion a couple of times in the early 90s. Once with the band ALL. Enjoy that show!

      I always wanted to see Mogwai. Other than the damaged ears, did you like their performance?

    • @misunderstudios
      @misunderstudios Před 8 měsíci

      @progrockjock I've seen them multiple times, and have never been disappointed. They aren't the biggest showmen but the music is tight

    • @progrockjock
      @progrockjock  Před 8 měsíci +1

      "tight" is all that matters. Being a showman is overrated. I just prefer to see the recordings properly executed live. I have an old friend who used to listen to them all of the time, so I got more of the Mogwai "second-hand smoke" if you know what I mean. I'll make it a point to see them live the next time we're in the same city.
