They aren't glitches, as they are not possible through the game. Cartridge tilting garbles all the data and messes with stuff the console is reading. Causing...this.
Cartridge tilting effect is able to be reproduced in Project64 emulator. There is a video showing how to do it. Even better, because there's no chance of corrupting an almost priceless cartridge.
