  • Essence Festival just celebrated their 30th Anniversary in the City of New Orleans. Hundreds of millions of dollars brought into the city, but some local business owners say the money doesn’t trickle down to them. Essence blocked those businesses from operating in key places in the city, like the French Quarter and Downtown NOLA. In this video, you will hear from the residents directly.

If all of the businesses cease operations during Essence Music Fest, there will be no Essence Music Fest. Festivals worldwide rely on small businesses in order to be deemed successful. Why cut small businesses' legs off while these events are taking place. This is a clear indication that the elected officials in NOLA are only interested in greasing their own pockets.

I had to change my comment, someone else was thinking exactly like myself😂, so I’ll say this, they came prepared, spoke with informative intelligence,, calmly, and I do believe there’s stanky, shady things going on, and they probably won’t budge, for now, because our journalist PBL is on the case💯, and the more knowledge obviously is more power, and I hope it all works out, especially now with everything just being so ungodly expensive, folks really have to make a living just to survive, in my opinion, these so-called politicians are literally standing on the backs of the community. They are supposed to be serving.😡… Thank you ever so much again PBL, no matter the case, you always put a smile on my face, I did not mean to rhyme 😂,,✌🏻💞

Like I said, I thought Essence was centered around the culture of New Orleans. Essence is owned by a colonizer who's only thinking about her ppl. It was all about Africa. Essence was a celebration for Indigenous melanated Americans. Essence Fest is a ratchet fest now.

Jesus. Im so sick of seeing the Palestine signs. 1. Palestine isnt our issue. NOLA needs to look after NOLA, and people need to take that same energy and protect the neighborhood they LIVE IN. Otherwsie go to gaza. None of them will. They love the freedom to sit there with those bullshit signs, but want to hate the places that make it free to do so. Its so ass backwards

Thank you PBL for your responsible journalism and giving information to the masses. I’m afraid for our future but so glad to see people all around America standing up for the rights of the citizens on the local level just as I do in my own city. We have to stay informed, be logical, vote on the facts not skin color and know the laws and ordinances in effect and those the municipalities we reside in are proposing.

If we were as staunch, vigilant and disrespectful with OUR demands for prosperity and financial fairness, we would be better overall.
