The thing I love about the 86 is it's so easy to work on and so much after market support it's so awesome
Good video mate!
Just what I was hoping to see. :)
Just put stiffer Eibach sway bars on my frs a few weeks ago and the difference was way more noticeable than I was expecting, high speed corners feel like a dream
daniel escobedo what were the specs you got?
Front or rear?
Man i really miss this guy 😢❤
Rear only: buy a bar off a Forester/wrx 17mm $50 on eBay. Stock rubber mounts can still squeeze on
YES! SWAY BARS AND STRUT BAR VIDEOS, PLEASE!
Pedders! A good Aussie company. Well made suspension components
And a rip off price to go with it.
Nice to see some Aussie products, been using Pedders products since the 80's.
goov video, the good thing about the brz or 86 its easy to work on. lots of aftermarket parts. its easy to maintain this car. i luv it
glad you're repping Australian products mate
Love that you’re using the same DeWalt impact that I have lol
I think having the lift made your install time way faster.
It wasnt the lift it was already having the covers off that go under the car
Awesoms vid...thanks ...what about front control arms. Or how to clean and degrease the suspension parts as you replace. Or prep to paint parts that are not going to be replaced to have show quality
If that was my car, and I had lift. I'd probably clean off the brackets and spray them with rustoleum. The bracket looked like it was starting to rust
I did the front today on my 2022. The rear subframe mount is slightly different as there is only one 14mm bolt but there is an additional brace. I had to laugh when you realized you lost track of which way the bar was when you took it off since it took me about 30 minutes of fussing with it to make sure.
Do you need upgrade the end links when getting sway bars?
no, i installed my whitelines with stock end links :)
Hope to c lowering control arm next please thanks
Have there products been shipping out fairly fast or is there gonna be a a 2 week shipping wait
would you rather a black or white 86
I did this by myself on jacks and stands.
Wait why’d you take the wheels off if they were on afterwards
Do how to install knuckles
Will you guYs be at ICC this weekend?
What do Sway bars do?
Yooo MightCarMods, Moog just complimented you for having a good instructional video on this installation on their recent video! 26:01 on their new video
Litty
With the limited amount of body roll this car has from the factory, won’t a stiffer rear sway bar just induce more oversteer? Some body roll is desirable so the weight of the car is planted on one tire and maximum traction is achieved.
I think the purpose of adding both a stiffer front and rear ARB is to avoid just that, if only the rear was made stiffer you would be correct. This is why you get adjustable ARBs to tune a cars handling balance :) hopefully that helps
If you have a square spring rate, the car may be prone to understeer just a touch. In this case (as is with mine), a stiffer rear bar might lean the car towards oversteer which is better especially for track work
@@Ekksanpher i want the rear swaybar on soft setting, front will be oem. It will understeer?
@@Carlos.Rivera It's not really possible to say as there are too many variable for a youtube comment section! :P If it does understeer, try moving the rear arb to the stiffer setting :) one of the perks of adjustable suspension. IF the aftermarket rear arb is stiffer than OEM on the softer setting (which I do not know) it should be more prone to oversteer than stock.
In general, stiffening an axle will make that axle more prone to breaking traction first. (by increasing weight transfer across that specific axle). Making the other axle softer in comparison. If a car is very understeer prone and you stiffen the rear and soften the front, it may still understeer, but should be more neutral than it was before.
The 'forbidden' alternative is to remove the front stock ARB (softening the front, increasing the rear WT) but that will likely cause other problems (like increased overall body roll) so It would likely increase lap times - but importantly, it is a free mod.
finally you earn some muscles.....
Does anybody know if going one level thicker on the rear swaybar and adding a front strut tower brace is a good idea?
Spencer Bell if you’re driving a pre refresh brz id just put the one level thicker sway bar on. Imo the front doesn’t need anymore stiffness since it suffers from a tiny bit of understeer on turn in. Check out “the topher brz suspension swap” he swaps suspension over from a 17+ car and it helps a ton. I’m doing the same to my car.
Richard underwood I’m driving a 2019 86 TRD With the handling pack, I can tell my old FRS was balanced way more for over steer than this car, this car hardly oversteers compared to my old car, I have just been finding a way to get back to what the frs was like
Did anyone notice you tried to put it in upside down 1st?😂
Any update on the other car that crashed? 😮
Its gone forever
@@FTspeed my condolences
FT86SpeedFactory RIP. 😕 It was one of my fave 86 on CZcams.
I want to sand blast and powder coat those brackets
The 86 already has a centre of mass 2mm off the road and sits flatter around corners than just about anything road legal. Why does it need upgraded sway bars?
Cause they're red and look cooler? I was thinking the same and I own a bog standard 86.
Yeah, I have a TRD 86… shit sticks like glue in the corner bone stock.
Was wondering the same… would stiffer bars be worth it? I’m not savy enough to say I know
Any good performance mod around 1k-3k? Wheels and tires I got. Any other ideas? I want to see people idea.
ivan Headers and Tune ! Def wakes the care up. If you can afford it an have access to e85 it definitely makes a BIG difference. If looking for other options i would definitely consider a good brand of coilovers, FA500, BC Racing, Or even a more budget friendly coil like Tein.
Bign52 thanks for the reply I was thinking about the tomie headers and the bc racing coilovers. I'm probably thinking of 2jz swap in the future like 3-4 years from now.
lol Lube the Rod..
14mm almost as hard to find as the 10...
Torque specs as follows
Tight is tight
🔱
Didn't know 2017+ had increased rear sway to 16mm. What's your source?
can't tell the difference between 14 and 12 mm but at least she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty.
don't wish Thomas watch get scratch.....
