Commenting just to add: If you keep getting exit code 0 when you're creating your own modpack, your forge loader is set to one that is supported by optifine. Spent the past hour scratching my head as to why it wasn't working.

@@Leviitation you most likely have origins on 1.18+ which completely breaks optifine /optifabric (dont know which one breaks)

Now, hopefully, I'll be able to play mostly smoothly without these issues (and when I hit the 'c' key, it'll actually zoom like i want it to lmaoo)
Hey, I know this was 2 years ago but could you explain why mine crashes when trying to launch? Is it as you stated because it isn't supported? 1.20.1 mod with 1.20.1 optifine didn't work for me. Could you please explain? Thank you for the video.

thankyou so much! i was making a pack with a few small mods and a lot of texture addons and datapacks and so many of them needed optifine, this was a lifesaver :3
This was a lot easier than expected you are the man thanks for the video.
Optifine simply doesn't show up in the mod list and also doesn't gets loaded when opening the game, everything works just fine but i can't use optifine at all

If it still doesn't seem to work, you're probably using the Fabric modloader. Just download OptiFabric(or a similar alternative) and add it exactly the way this guy teaches you to add Optifine. Once you have BOTH OptiFine AND OptiFabric in your mods folder, things should work fine.

In the Curseforge launcher the game version is 1.16.4. In the Minecraft launcher it says 1.16.5. And crashes the game when loading with either version installed.

Do you know how to add the shaders to opticians tho? Do you have to open a folder within optifine?

I have followed every single step of you video in the the vampirism mod pack (the 1.16.5 version) and it crash because of it, and I tried all the other videos that trys to teach how to do it and none of them works.
if i put optifine in the mods folder my game crashes while loading, do you know why?
Could be the wrong Optifine version. That's what I did by mistake

Hey man it does not work ): i put the jar file into my folder an optifine does not come up in game. Does anyone know a fix because this is really annoying.

whenever I try to open folder, it goes to the Documents branch but there is no Twitch/Curseforge folder leading to the Minecraft mods. I can't find where the new Overwolf Curseforge directory is located but Curseforge still thinks its in Documents. (problem being there isn't any twitch folder there anymore)
Try to look at C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\Mods\Instances this is where mine are hope it will help you.

Optifine now crashes and is incompatible with ALL modpacks with newer version of minecraft.

I think optifine in general works/shows up depending on the modpack you're using. For instance, I originally tried this with a modpack called All the Fabric 3 with v. 1.16.5 and Optifine wouldn't show up. Now I'm trying it with MC Eternal which is running 1.12.2 and Optfine shows up...Idk what this means lol.
fabric mods dont go well with optifine as far as i know
you have to use optifabric for fabric modpacks
I have problems with medieval minecraft adding optifine to, version 1.16.5 and yeah it gives me exit code 1 when I try to add Optifine to the mods list for medieval minecraft.
@@bellycar8702 I think it's besouse optifine needs to be compatible with minecraft version AND forge version.

are you installing optifine on a custom modpack that you or a friend made or are you using one of the modpacks on the curse launcher

most mods will have a link to the optifine release that fits it in its description

I followed the instructions exactly as said in the video, and it didn't work for me!
I'm trying to add Optifine to Better Minecraft [FORGE] - 1.17.1 . Even though it says 1.17.1 in the name, I still verified the version next to the gamepad in the extended details, 1.17.1. I went to optifine's site using the link in the description, and downloaded the latest version of Optifine for 1.17.1. I put it in the mods folder with all the other mods for Better Minecraft [FORGE] - 1.17.1, hit play, and it opened the launcher. I hit play in the launcher, a progress bar appears and goes through like normal, it says Compelte! and the launcher closes... then nothing happens for 20 seconds and the launcher opens up again saying "ERROR Game crashed An unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Exit Code: 0" Is Optifine not compatible with that pack or something even though they're the same version? Some help would be greatly appreciated.
it also didnt work for me in 1.17.1 but i managed to get in but i didnt have optifine

I’m having the same issue with better Minecraft 1.16.5 I don’t know why because I see CZcamsrs use shaders on better Minecraft all the time. It sucks!

edit: I noticed something, idk if it'll make a difference but optifine puts the forge version it's compatible with. I can't find the one for mine for 1.16.5 (the better Minecraft I'm on is on forge 36.2.20 but all optifine 1.16.5 versions are only compatible with 36.0.0, 36.0.42, and 36.1.0). Maybe check if the 1.17.1 version you got is compatible with yours?
edit2: I just installed Better Minecraft [forge] 1.18.2 and I noticed in the notes that it does not need optifine to use shaders and that you can apply them directly from the settings. I wonder if it's the same for 1.17.1? But check the notes (you can do that by clicking on the arrows that say "change version"), it tells you how to work with optifine
edit 3: if it's not like the 1.18.2 version, then try removing a mod that's called "magnesium" I believe. I tried doing that for my 1.16.5 version and it worked!

I have the correct version of optifine installed but whenever I try to run it in the modpack it crashes. Removing it solves the problem.

Solution Change the modpack forge version to the optifine

Same, The only optifine version for 1.15.2 is "preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G5_pre2" And when that is in the folder it crashes.

@@nubri5508 Oh I figured out the issue. The Map I had was for 1.16.4 and the optifine I was downloading was for 1.15.2. My mistake.
i tried this on 1.17.1 but my game crashed and i got a code error 0 how do I fix this
