That live performance is just phenomenal on all aspects. The studio version is good but that took it to another level. The live band is just perfect and Risu killed it. Fans and Hololive talents praised her. Like, "she was basically a Disney princess that burst into a song" and from Suisei herself, "she's like Hololive's Celine Dion."

Risu is amazing. You noticed the two cards near the beginning and wondered whether it had something to do with her names origins, not quite the origin but it refers to the fact that Risu often streams with two different personalities. Which one goes by Ayunda and the other Risu. Ayunda uses a low voice and is what most of this song is sang in, with Risu's higher voice being used right at the end (The lore is that Ayunda is a witch which inhabited Risu's body, which they now share. The cards at the start have a picture of a witch hat for Ayunda and a Squirrel for Risu). That said the lore is not a big thing in her streams, simply that she uses a different voice depending on how she is feeling.

  • @jacobosaldarriaga4820
    @jacobosaldarriaga4820 Před 2 lety +122

You were actually not wrong about the combination of ideas/two characters, since Ayunda is a witch that to escape prosecution, merged with her squirrel familiar (Squirrel in Japanese is risu). This is all official lore btw.
And it is a nice explanation to her voice range, since her high pitch voice is Risu, while her much lower voice is Ayunda.
It's a bit similar to how Moona is the Moon Goddess while Hoshinova is the person she blessed.

Risu is an incredible singer, honestly beyond words. She’s mostly an unknown still because she was held back a lot by her IRL circumstances in 2021, but she confirmed recently that she’ll be able to work on music a lot more this year, so this is the perfect kicking off point.
She went through a lot of emotional turbulence the past year, something she couldn’t share with her fans as much as she wanted (I can only tell you a bit) but she’s always said her fans are her light when she’s at the end of her rope. This was her way of telling us she’s going to be okay.

Risu is the most underrated as far as i can tell...Gurenge cover was insane...i like it more than the original. Technique is maybe La+ the new challenger. Towa and Lui are responsible for the lower pitch voices...Lamy embracing her lower pitch more is also quite good. Flare is another underrated. Okayu is the somber voice, as is Mios. Rare that i don't like a song be it original or cover done by the hololive girls. The one i liked least is probably the english Envy Baby from Calli....it is hard to change the language of a song without loosing its message, timing and tone. And Suisei is just Suisei...doing Karaoke in studio quality. Hope Chloe will be alright and back soon...waiting for a cover from her...but family matters take priority anyway.

@@kusogoi Risu's definitely the most underrated, only because she's the least popular among the western audience. If I was making tiers of "talent" though I'd have S Tier: Suisei, Azki, Irys
A Tier: Sora, Moona, Risu, Towa
      B Tier: Kanata, Watame, Mio
People often conflate range to skill. Suisei for example (from what I've heard) has a strong 2,6 octave range. Risu surprisingly is 2,4 which is the same as Moona. Risu is just extremely talented at putting on different voices so her range seems a lot wider than it is. Kanata has the largest range with a little over 3 octaves however she doesn't have the control over her entire range like Suisei. Marine for example also has a 3 octave range but that isn't a stable singing range.
Lol sorry went on a bit of a rant. There was a channel that actual did an in depth vocal analysis on a lot of the member's range's if you're more interested. I can't for the life of me remember the name. If you search Suisei vocal range I think you'll find it though.

Waited to finish a watching a few other of your reactions to other members' songs, and all in all, it's just beyond amazing what they do, really. Whether it's certain lines or entire songs, a lot really provides some emotional impact. The more time goes on, I can't help but find their music is incredibly inspiring, and some of it provides much needed motivation in one way or another.
Mumei's and Risu's songs being great examples of that imo. Mumei's song feels like it sparks a sense of wanderlust and curiosity to try new things whenever able, pushing through difficult times that may come along the way based in part on how some of the Japanese lyrics are translated. Risu's on the other hand is just mind blowing with the vocals, and you can really feel she put her heart into the lyrics and singing. Also Idk about anyone else, but when listening to it, Risu's song also ends up making me wanna sing along to it whether I'm in the mood for that or not lol. She's got quite the powerful singing voice on display with this.

    Just some extra info:
She's Ayunda Risu from Hololive's Indonesian branch. Bahasa Indonesian is her native language, but she also speaks excellent English and Japanese. All three languages were used in this song.
The song's rhythm can throw some people off, as it's in a 3/4 time signature with a waltz feel instead of the typical 4/4.
Risu has an incredible vocal range spanning several octaves easily. I think the only Hololive member that might have a more impressive range is Amane Kanata from the Japanese branch.
Risu is well known for having "two voices": Her "Ayunda" voice - which she uses for most of this song - has a heavy, darker tone. The last ~50 seconds of the song, she uses her "Risu" voice, which has a lighter, airy quality to it.

'Ayunda' is spelled exactly like how it is, similar with Japanese spelling. And yes, she's from Hololive Indonesia like the rest of the girls from previous K/DA cover that you mentioned (minus Calli).
These three girls in that song also happened to be the monster singers in their branch (although all of ID are at least decent at singing). Reine is a very versatile singer that eats all genre (also a great rapper), Moona has a beautiful voice with a hidden weapon of powerful western diva-style belting (hopefully she would show it in her next OG song), while Risu has extremely broad voice type, range, and techniques. She also has hidden weapons like her rock-style belting that you mentioned in your last comment, but she very rarely sings and shows it -- partially because of reasons that she tries to express in the middle part of this song. Thankfully just like hopeful notes in the end of this song, she should be able to utilize her beautiful voice more now.

@@stahncloud4875 While I also do really like her Phony (my most fav is Nijisanji Chima's, but Anya's is probably second), I also consider stuffs like stability and their live performance. Moona eating hardest English diva and disney songs is what she does regularly in unarchived streams, while Risu is the only member who used to only do acapella and eating some of the hardest songs without the support of BGM. Reine usually isn't that flashy, but her singing is still really stable. Anya has improved immensely since debut and has one of the most unique voice in the entire Hololive, but she still has a large room for improvement especially on high notes (try to listen to her extremely rare guerilla karaoke lel). Very few if any made it onto anime sound tracks where most foreigners were exposed to Japanese pop music. and she call the low pitch girl as Ayunda,
In this song, she begun to sing as ayunda and later on (15:25) she switch with risu,
and in the end (15:57) you will realize both sing together..
PS: its just lore, its a same person, and no she dont have 2 personality, just a character lore..

If you think of each best as being subdivided into 3 everything makes sense. I'm not sure if this qualifies as 6/8, but that's what my instincts want to say. Keep in mind I'm not a musician.

It is 6/8, invoking a fairytale atmosphere in the music, but what it wrapped up is a technically very challenging vocal that, if I remember correctly, not even Suisei dared to try.

I don't think you understand me. I dove into this world; I found out about it when I heard Kiara getting upset when someone complained about her "japanese only streams" early on. How can something suck you in when you already were digging? XD

I recently heard she refused solo concert show offer from the Hololive agency because she wanted to spend more time streaming with her fans instead ? is that true ?

Why Indonesian always underating their own compatriot. This trigger my curiosity as many comments with indonesian name in topic about holoID try to downrating their own people, suggesting other member in middle of nowhere. Sorry if I'm sound rude here, but getting to read this kinda comments more than 20+ really make me wonder. If she from my country, I am for sure really proud of her.

@@addminustraitor8514 it's not like i down rating her or something, rather I'm trying to promote another individual within another individual well you could say i compare her with other. But i can assure you I'm not

@@addminustraitor8514 you're completely right, they act like that. I thought I'm the only one who think that way, not only in hololive or vtuber thing but also everything in general when it's related with their own people or country.
