- Ottawa's decision to remove the image of Terry Fox in its new passport design is drawing criticism across Canada, including here in his hometown. Michelle Ghoussoub spoke with residents in Port Coquitlam, many of whom say Fox should still be featured.

Terry Fox is quite arguably the greatest Canadian ever. His strength, courage, determination, integrity, sacrifice, etc. etc. are all values Canadians strive for. He was a very young man when he ran his Marathon Of Hope and was and still is an inspiration to millions; as well as many past, current, and future generations.
I have tears flowing down my face as I’m typing this out. The man united our nation and is responsible for raising an incredible amount of money for cancer research.
Terry Fox is directly responsible for saving countless lives because of the money he raised for cancer research. There are people who are still alive and who are still enjoying many years with loved ones because of Terry Fox.
Anyone who would believe that Terry Fox should not be on the Passport is not a Canadian. I would absolutely LOVE for politicians to publicly address this and let everyone know exactly why they don’t want Terry Fox on it.
My daughter is alive today, married and has raised a family thanks to the money raised and research into the very same cancer that Terry Fox died of. He is my hero. Removing his image saddens me.

I can also imagine the overwhelming weight that was taken off of you when she won her bout with cancer. That she was able to carry on and enjoy life, become a mother, and make you a grandmother is a testament to what Terry Fox accomplished.

They took Terry Fox off the passport because he was white, and white people have to be known as devils that steal land and enslave and genocide people according to the left, so any references to heroes that were white need to be erased. Too damn right that the removal of the image of Terry Fox from the passport should be criticised. He is an iconic Canadian figurehead, known worldwide for his efforts to cross Canada, unlike any of the politicians who agreed to this decision even if it wasn't their original idea. If they can include a picture of some random animal, there is no reason that an image of Terry Fox couldn't be used as well/instead. - And I am writing this as a British citizen!

Terry Fox was like the physical embodiment of what we believe it means to be Canadian. Selfless, Empathetic, hard working, persevering. Its something that transcends ethnic, cultural and religious boundaries as something we all should and do strive for. Things shouldn't be changed for change's sake but for a real purpose. I'm struggling to find a rational reason for this change.

I read up on this and the reason for changing the passport images is that, if the same image remains for two long, it makes it easier for counterfeiting. So….the question is…why not just have new images of Terry Fox and the veterans of Vimy ridge made?

Terry was a white male. He isn't diverse enough in the current era.
There are different people who have interesting legacies, and there are heroes as well. Unfortunately whoever makes the decisions of adding images has no clue about how to make the majority of Canadians happy.
There are people who have done good deeds, and maybe even unusual good deeds, and none of these people images were used.
An imagine of a deer with leaves falling, and a snow flake was used, and I think maybe this is the only good part about the passport. I think a lot more thought should have been used to make changes to the Canadian passport.
If a new design must be made then I think it should have been a collaborative effort amongst as many Canadians as possible.
A few years ago I repented to God then begged for help, "I was until then an Atheist."
I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed.", and what I felt from Jesus when I held him was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of Love every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever.
I've had other experiences since, "Several witnessed", one was seeing a bright orb of light pass across my face in the dark, hours before a major surgery the second I gave up in my heart.
Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they Love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you Love them.

Another diversion from the real problem of most Canadians. Most people that struggle with the cost of food and housing don’t even have a passport, let alone care what pictures are printed on it.

Showing the reason we have such a great passport is represented by our military forces and Terry Fox was a legend for what he has done to raise awareness for all types of Cancer. They may not be entirely to blame but with Trudeau's agenda to keep bringing in more refugees with entirely different values he is trying to appear more inclusive instead of staying strong and showing the reason why Canada is such a great country and the people whom sacrificed there lives in doing so. I wouldn't mind seeing Chinese rail workers as that was such a dangerous job in those days or something along those lines. However there are many pages in the passport there is not reason to get rid of what already made it great!

There are too many famous or beloved people to choose 1 or 2 for something like this. We don’t need pics on a passport anyway. Just a map print of Canada is enough. It would save a ton of money not to print all these color pages. And not many of us need 30 pages! Have an option for a 4 pager; save even more money. This is the type of thing to be cut from budgets.
