I happened to find this Vid by Bill Gluck while searching for his obit shortly after he passed away in Jan 2015. Although I only met him in the the mid '90's when he first took up sailing I can see now why he had such a zest for life. We spent many an afternoon sitting around and gabbing in the cockpits of our respective boats and discussing boat projects as well as on the water sailing especially when he joined me in racing where he was really keen on learning how to adjust the sail trim for optimum performance.
He never once brought up the subject of his youth and the concentration camps and I see now that his philosophy of looking to the future was very strong.
Rest in peace Bill! Fair winds and following seas!
Bob
Thank you for sharing your memory's with us may he rest in peace 🙏
What a badass. I am very grateful that this wonderful man took the time to tell his story. I know, he isn't around to read this, anymore... but... Thank you, Bill.
He is a badass this is how to be a man 101 🖤🔥
is he? Please read previous comments
@@rydergorelickstudentehs9292 I hope after reading your comment that your uncle is indeed still alive and well
Very impressive man. Great instincts and very brave.
He is a very intelligent man. Never underestimate the mind of a child. God bless him for getting through that terrible period of time. I'm happy he out started the Germans
May his memory be a blessing
Strong , noble , smart , positive & handsome man
He is the most incredible story teller. I cried, and gasped, and talked through scenes of his story just like he was talking to me. What an inspirational man. So many stories on this channel have touched my heart, but this man's story has impacted me the most. The way he cried for his father as he told the story of finding him after the war......you can tell he has healed very much from that time. Perhaps writing his book helped him with that. It would be such an honor to ever meet a person like him.
This handsome gentleman was blessed with an indominitable spirit and the brains to survive in the face of overwhelming adversity. He was absolutely right to brag...to be proud of his ability to survive by hook or crook. When you think of the millions who didn't make it, by no fault of their own, you realize how special every survivor was. It took a smart, determined and lucky person to make it. I loved his story about the smoked potatoes. I am glad he survived and went on to be successful and to share his story in his eloquent, forthright style. I also want to say that I thought the interviewer did a good job. She was professional, non-emotional, and respectful. She didn't interrupt him, like too many interviewers did with other survivors. Bill Gluck passed away in 2015. His daughter in-law wrote about him in a couple of articles I found via Google. RIP.
.llllllll
A little boy huddled in a corner savoring his Smokey baked potatoes that he probably risked his life for just makes my eyes overflow , I guess when you endure such hardship maybe life and freedom has so much more value , should anybody have to experience such a thing? I don't know . But wow what and incredible little boy he was .. people in the West need to grow up today .
Thank you for sharing all the testimonies. I am watching each of them.
What a horrific and mesmerizing story. So sad his childhood was robbed. Blessings Mr. Gluck.
What a brave, smart, and handsome man!!! Amazing story. NEVER FORGET
Bill truly was a survivor and not a victim. He testifies to the power of building resiliency from painful events - like his tyrant grandfather, his "wrestling coach" uncle and his shaming, shouting and slapping Hungarian teacher. "I survived by an extraordinary amount of luck and by my own wits and stubbornness and adaptability. If I become a victim, then I give Hilter and his henchmen a tiny amount of victory." The two men in Birkenau were unforgettable; "They got his attention with fear, then softly said, 1:24 “You look strong, do everything you can to survive, and live to tell the story about what happened to our people. From that minute on, I became a survivor." "But when I had time to sit down and philosophize, I didn’t know if I really wanted to go back out into that hostile Gentile world. “Is it worth surviving?” 3:16 A guard, Blondie, who had come off the Russian front wounded told me, “hang in there little one, hang in. We lost this war a long time ago, so hang in”...But he kept encouraging me. It was absolute heaven that some friend/person actually cares whether I survive or not." This testimony of a boy regaining the power to love and trust again is gripping.
lose had many survivors on our kibbutz and have recorded all their testimonies,
He was a smart kid. His sugar story was interesting. He had alot to tell us. Very moving testimony.

What a brilliant, charismatic sexy man. He took the worst situation possible and grew stronger from it. Just beyond impressive.
Very grounded man... Amazing! So truthful, such an example of being truthful. Great English.
A truly remarkable man. Such strength, such resilience.
What a wonderful intelligent man. It makes me sick that so many Nazis disappeared after the war and were never punished. So glad he survived.
Thank you for being such a great man.
RIP Bill, you are a true human being. I appreciate your stubbornness and pride.
What a man. Facing down the lowest of the low: bullies.
Thank you so much for sharing your life story. I was amazed of your resourcefulness and sixths sense that kept you alive. Thank god you made it. I was very mooved by your reunion with your father, so many feelings you expressed in a soffocated cry. I cried for the things you had to burry for so many years in order to survive. I wish you and your family all the best in the world. You really deserve it
This is the best interview ever! God bless this man and his family always.
How can you rate these testimonies, everyone's struggles and loss was the same.
So grateful for his story. Unbelievable survival.
God bless u fella
What an amazingly tough guy, thank you for sharing your story! RIP ❤️
His memory IS a blessing :)
Seems to me that out of unbelievable circumstances, the best of humanity can arise.
To God be the glory.
Incredible man! Thank you for letting us know what you went through. World needs to see videos! Amazing man! Much love
what a Great Man!!!! so glad I happen to listen to Him. Proud of Him.
"Again" classic. "What did you do with those potatoes?" Doh!
What this man must have gone through.... what a human being... 👌
Wish the interviewer could have let Mr. Gluck talk more about the Baron, whom he clearly deeply adimired, & it was apparent a story was coming from him when she diverted him away with "And, where was the next D.P. camp?" Hopefully, that story he was about to tell, was told to somebody/somebodies before he died. Mr. Gluck is/was a super-genius, very very smart, clever, ingenious, endowed with special intuition. So, we know that the Baron, to've been greatly admired by Mr. Gluck, was a very special individual indeed! Oh well, on to other things, like what next camp. If she could just've waited a couple more seconds rather than abruptly diverting him away from what were obviously wonderful reminisces for him & which he deserved to recollect & recount. Oh well, back to work: what next camp, on to the next camp... At any rate, this man is/was truly uncanny, so smart, very remarkable, and a survivor.
I love this guy. Im in awe.
R.I.P you gorgeous brave man.
Thank you BILL GLUCK.for your memories .I Thing Gluck Means Luck in German ..well you made your own Luck Bill and Lived to tell your Story for all to read Mtyt.....
Beautiful man.
I guess you are aware of this: your name "Glück" stands for "Luck" in English. I truly loved listening to your stories, and I would like to thank you very much.
These survivors and their testimony are an extremely important part of our collective histories. These videos must be preserved as proof of the atrocities committed by the Nazi's in World War 2. This man and the other Jewish and non-Jewish victims are heroes in my opinion. Their fight for survival under insurmountable cruelty and suffering are undeniable and factual. Lest we never forget man's most horrendous cruelty toward mankind.
What a beautiful face this man had, :)
Indeed
Such a lovely man very handsome as a youngster
What a resilient great man. And a good looking man already when he was young. Impressive testimony. RIP Mister Gluck.
What an amazing person he is. He has an innate knowledge that got him out of incidents that would have done in the average prisoner.
An exceptional man, a remarkable testimony.
This breaks my heart!
I teared up several times. An amazing man
Astounding story of an amazing young boy and man. Thank you for telling your history to us all, I mesmerized by this account.
Thank you for your testimony such a strong man x
The Synagogue is still standing in Zsatmar with a broken foundation stone and there's a Jewish Museum too
Life can be so cruel, no one chooses their destiny 🤷♀️ but my goodness how unforgiving humans can be.. why???
God was helping you , rest in peace Bill
How is that so?
What an amazing man . I share the sentiments of all those who have commented. Once more this interviewer was not always listening carefully . The best interviewers ,, (I have listened to hundreds of these testimonies)are those from the UK. and Australia) However the survivors, each and everyone of them succeed in reaching our hearts and minds. From kibbutz Geva , Israel.
Very intelligent thoughts as to the the misinformation the Nazi's were giving and the psychological processes,... I too am glad that teacher "bought it" on the Russian Front.
Smart beyond his years. Sad seeing him trying to keep it together when he speaks about seeing his dad after the war.
Wonder what happened to his father they cut the video and she forgot to ask him that question again when he returned.
Imagine having the honor to sit and interview these brave people and screw it up so badly that you interrupt and ask questions about something they just told you already. I cant believe that those in charge of making this series have not once listened to these interviews and not felt shame about what a poor job they did. They are all like dumb robots. At least remaster these precious moments with the people that poured out their stories and edit out the stupidity of the ones conducting the interviews for God's sake.
That interviewer ia a disgrace
Absolutely agree. Hard to fathom where most of these interviewers came from. Being an amateur is one thing - not paying attention to the story is offensive. Having a voice like a robot suggests an emotional deficiency. And why can't these tapes be re-mastered and edit out the gaps between tapes.
@@antoniadelaunay8585how strange. I have been under the impression that the interviewer had kept from getting emotional several times during the narration. At least, this has been my sensation. 👌
She forgot to pick up the question about his father which is very frustrating
They sound Canadian - it’s the way they communicate it can sound disconnected
Absolutely terrifying how people can switch from good to evil.
Not sure about that… I think those times revealed who they really were.
God’s richest blessings on the Nation of Israel.
He reminds me of William Shatner I guess he wouldn't remember much when he was 10 but what came later must have been a living nightmare
i applied to be an interviewer but they weren't really doing them but that time. This was in 2017.
Oh Bill you are awesome love you hope you are still alive prayers amen 🙏
The German guards yelling “SHMELTA SHMELTA SHNELL SHNELL SHNELL!!!”evil
SOBs😡😡😡
Those testimonies are from people who have suffered unimaginable events, who have seen hell and human cruelty. You would think they would find sensitive, thoughtful interviewers to handle those questions. But NO, they found the heartless, coldest and many times stupidest people on earth. Although this project is vital and necessary to record those precious testimonies and I have to applaud the organizers for it but at the same time I have been really troubled not only by sometimes unnecessary questions asked but mostly by the tome and carelessness of the interviewers who a few times cross the line and are rude
They are there to document history in an impartial way.
Sometimes while watching these survivors giving their testimony's i wonder who was ruder and crueler to them.... The Nazis or the interviewers?
@@stevevenicetaxi please give an example of the interviewer being "cruel."
Most interviewers are holocaust survivors themselves. Also, culturally, as a North easterner, these interviewers never sound rude to me. We have different ways of talking that are not rude to us. Others take offense.
@@stevevenicetaxiplease!!!!
I am fond of this survivor!
I don’t care for this interviewer she is very cold and matter of fact it’s like she is interviewing this survivor for a job instead of being compassionate and understanding
A lot of the interviewers are not that warm. More like clinical. I guess that is just their personality but, I agree with you and wish they were warmer.
Bad A$$! G-d bless his soul. I know he is in Olam-HaBah. 🕊️♥️
They don't post the full testimonies of the survivors of the einsatzgruppen.
The bread was known as Wonderflugen; these days it’s called Wonder Bread 😂
Where did his father end up?
What a pity he wasn't nominated for the president of the United States.
He had a grandfather too Strickt to Mr Gluck when he was a boy. He,spoke two languages.
Horrible Audio.
Close caption please
Yes you had like a sixth sense iam listening to all three hours one hour to go and I don’t want it to stop I suppose bill isn’t your real first name and that is okay I hope you met a beautiful and kind and lovely wife and had children and grandchildren who can keep on bringing your memory alive
They should show the photos at the.beginning
Or you could forward to end
What happened to bill’s dad did he go to Canada at the end
, ♥️❤️💜💖💙🙏😢
Love this man, Smart Tough Strong, i agree , fight them! Not a victim, a Survivor!! He has the Survivor mentality it takes to get through hard times ! The interviewer, is so stoic , shows no humanity, in her voice unfortunately
The narcissism that came from adults and children that thought they were the superior race was appalling.
Hold a Micraphone to his mouth . Its impossible to hear ...
Bill is the type of man I would have liked to meet and marry .
Did
Why does he have to answer all these basic questions. i.e. birth of mother, nicknames etc etc? Get to the point and stop asking him to do things like spell his own name.so glad I can fast forward this.
This is a historical record.
Because it his Story that he is telling, and it will go into the Holocaust memories. There are hundreds of stories. It is his Story, and is graciously giving, all insight into what the Holocaust survivors went through, and will not be forgotten.
Never forget....
Interviewer is very cold and rude and speedy she interromps him I quote we are going to interrupt here to change the tape she could have been nicer
His grandfather was a tyrant.
skurwysyn, ups! I hear it for the second time. why of all Polish words ;( poignant!
It is very sad he died. I’m relieved that he didn’t have to be subjected to the antisemitic comments made by Donald Trump.
What an ignorant statement.
