- A full unabridged audiobook of the classic gothic story, "The Signalman", by Charles Dickens - complete with sounds and visuals.
The railway signalman of the title tells the narrator of an apparition that has been haunting him. Each spectral appearance precedes a tragic event on the railway on which the signalman works. The signalman's work is at a signal-box in a deep cutting near a tunnel entrance on a lonely stretch of the railway line, and he controls the movements of passing trains. When there is danger, his fellow signalmen alert him by telegraph and alarms. Three times, he receives phantom warnings of danger when his bell rings in a fashion that only he can hear. Each warning is followed by the appearance of the spectre, and then by a terrible accident.
The story was first published as part of a collection in the 1866 Christmas edition of All the Year Round magazine.

A railway worker has been haunted by an apparition warning him against his duty in clearing the way at the time of a passing train.The narrator learns that the signalman was killed by a passing train while he had been standing on the line and failed to get out of the way. His own future ghost, appearing in a form that can be seen, foretells a catastrophe by yelling at him time and again to look out and clear the way.
Doesn't need the noise in the background ruins it.
