  • A lot of people want the help or attention of Jesus in this week's Gospel lesson, and he has a simple piece of advice for his disciples...rest. Peter Walsh and John Kennedy discuss the importance of rest as a spiritual discipline, how we adjust to our increasingly busy world, and which word is used more than any other to describe Jesus' emotional state.

This may be the most important lesson we can have in our chaotic lives. If we could intentionally hold back the gates of chaos and practice Holy Rest, the world may find that it can breathe more easily. Don’t you think that better decisions are made when we are calm? There is a song that I want to recommend to all listeners: Johnny Diaz sings, “Breathe” on U-Tube with written lyrics. This is a perfect summary, I think. So, “Breathe, just Breathe; chaos calls, but all you really need is to just Breathe”.

What a great song. Thank you for sharing, Marcia. We can all use that reminder.
