So many tracks left off of the ost
This game is underrated as hell. Its criminal how people didn't give It much attention because it's a card game.
It's the greatest story ever told during a card game.
Defence of the old town might be the best piece of music ever written
@@daveb305 taming a stray kinda goated too
Best card game ever
It was unexpected, I personally thought it was just an advertisement for Gwent Online, but it ended up being way more than that.
One of the most underrated games ever, the story is amazing and immersive as hell, full of desicion making and the soundtrack is fucking fire.
Certainly the most immersive card game ever.
It's the only card game for me :)
For real? I didn't take this game seriously, though it was a mere side cashgrab for witcher fans. Is it online?
@@findgodwithin369 No, it's a single player game. Combat and gameplay is gwent-based, but the story is honestly really good.
@@theoderic_l So is gwent deepeer than witcher 3's or like the phone game?
@@findgodwithin369
It's deeper than the witcher 3 gwent, but not on the level of online gwent, still very good
meve is so freaking bad ass
She really is
Totally! For me, she's up there alongside iconic kick-ass female characters such as Elen Ripley and Trinity.
Meve itself is derived from the Irish feminine Medb "To intoxicate" which was the name of a legendary warrior queen of Connacht! Since the Nilfgaardians are reminiscent of Romans, I believe Meve's rebellion holds some Boudicca undertones, as well ;).
@@oberon5657 You are right!
I have no doubts in my minde that part of why this game was such a pleasure to play was the music, it captured very well how queen meve, her man and by extention the player feels
16:00 .. god damn, it's so beautiful!
Yes It is
Can't get over how good "Taming a stray" is. Wonderfully chilling composition.
It occurred to me that Thronebreaker is a spinoff of Gwent, which is a spinoff of the Witcher games, which are a spinoff of the books. And the quality hasn't diminished at all during these transformations, it's all gold! That's one strong franchise, thanks to CDPR and Sapkowski.
Now if only we could say the same about the tv shows...
The most recent one with Henry Cavill is pretty solid. First season's timeline was hard to follow, but it was enjoyable enough to get me hyped for future seasons.
@@FahimAhmed-xj9lq Oh, I didn't have a problem with the timeline, I've read all of the books several times. What I didn't like is how much they changed the story. Some of the changes I could understand, for filming reasons. But some scenes would've been both easier and cheaper if they'd stuck with the original story, and what we got instead felt about as well thought out as GoT season 8 :P
Like the battle of Cintra. It was never shown in the books, we only hear about it afterwards. The showrunners decided to write a battle scene between two "armies" that ended up being really expensive and just looked pretty stupid. "We're losing!" *facepalm* To me, the whole scene was just a pointless transition that didn't add anything to the narrative or drama, because the execution was so shoddy. If they wanted to show what a badass Calanthe is, they could've done it in so many other ways.
And I know they could've done better, we can look to scenes like the butchery of Blaviken for evidence. I might have had my expectations set up by the books, but to me the show was at its strongest whenever they stuck to the original story, and lost the wind in its sails whenever they tried to improve on what they already had. I didn't dislike _all_ the changes, for example the doppler side plot was a complete surprise, but quite well done. But for the most part, I kept thinking "You already had a perfectly good story here, why did you have to change it?"
For contrast, the Polish "Wiedzmin/Hexer" show was faithful to the story, but the execution was pretty bad. So it's not just about that. I do think the Netflix version is certainly better, although the Hexer isn't complete garbage, if you can get past the low production value.
And just as a side note: I think the story would've been better if the entire Ciri plot had been left to a later season. That would've probably made the plot easier for the uninitiated to follow, but I understand why they wanted to bring her in at the start.
Anyway, thank you for coming to my TED talk and have a nice day!
@@Hapetiitti The problem with the first season of The Wotcher is that showrunners and producers keep misidentifying what made shows like GoT or Vikings stick in people´s minds. They pump these new series full of sex and brutality and keep forgetting about the intrigue, deeper more emotional themes accompanying the action, or straight up making sense if analyzed more closely. The Butcher of Blaviken´s storyline in the books is amazing precisely because of what we learn about the real motivations of the actors at play, and how Geralt´s attempt at heroics cost the lives of decent people and his reputation in exchange for nothing, which informs his decision-making for pretty much the entire book series up to Toussaint.
The new season of The Wotcher is an absolute disaster because of this, pure shock value and no substance, with many absurd cg¡hanges made to accomodate an inferior version of an already good story *spoilers* like Eskel´s debacle, Vesemir´s apparent primal desire to bring back mutagens, or Yen´s absolutely out of character behaviour for the entire season.
@@Astraben +++++
@@Hapetiitti I think that they should have focused on Geralt's early days. He's like 80-90 years old when the 2nd/3rd books take place and the main continuous plot begins. Yet it's obvious that the producers want to make their own shoddy stories and just slap a ''Witcher'' label on them. So that being the case (imo at least) they could have had better luck using that ''creativity'' in portraying various unmentioned stories from Geralt's early career. Essentially several seasons in the style of ''The last wish'' and then the last 3-4 seasons could actually bring in the other MVP characters.
Qwent was a fun exp. Witcher 2&3 we're all solid and witcher3 was really sth special for me. But thronebreaker is still my favorite witcher related game. The immersion, choices, voice acting, world art etc were stellar. I didn't have mich expectations coz I merely thought it was going to be a forgettable card game but I was blown away with the quality
Qwent 😭😭
taming a stray is so goddamn good. gives me goosebumps every fucking time!
Knickers!
The Thronebreaker Soundtrack provides a wonderful combination of motifs which convey both the elegance and brutality of Queen Meve beautifully.
CDPR nailed it once more!! And a nice compilation here as well! 👌👌
Thanks!!
Ah man Retribution was so sick when you're about to bend Aep Dahy over in the final battle. Amazing game and music!
Such an Amazing Work....... Applaud to the CD Project Red......and to the Person who made this video!!!!
Thanks you, it's a shame not many people played this game.
14:27 Nostalgia when that kicked in for the first time.
Probably the single best album for game or movie ever made. Every tune is just perfect.
Great remix, loving that saturated ver of the Meve wallpaper too - most striking!
Thank you, it took me way more than it should to make it look like this lol.
@@osaid98 could u share the image? I would like to use it as my desktop background, its really that good.

Such a wonderful gaming experience, thank you for bringing it back with this amazing compilation!
I'm using this soundtrack for my witcher-themed dnd campaign! some of my players have played the witcher games but not thronebreaker, so this is perfect to recreate the tone and feel of the world while still sounding unique! Hopefully they play thronebreaker afterwards aswell.
Hey that's awesome, recently got into DnD myself so I'm glad this video i made ages ago is of some small use to a band of adventurers somewhere out there : )
Bloody Mistress has to be the best track in the entirety of the Witcher series.

You're welcome friend. I'm glad this game is still getting attention years after its launch.

Bloody mistress my favorite
Lair of the beast is my favorite.
Is it just me or did the singer actually shout 'deus vult' in the background?
@@grigorirasputin6443 It's just you I think. It's most likely something in one of the dozen or so slavic languages used all over the soundscape of The Witcher's music.
@@k.v.7681 Pretty sure i hear her shouting something like 'SLAUGHTEEEEEEEEEEEER' along the lines
I thought that I heard "GOREEEE!" which in some older slavic dialects means "BUUURN!"
@@k.v.7681 being russian i can safely say that the language used in this particular track is most likely completely made up since it doesn't sound even remotely close to neither of the slavic languages i have heard or known

this card game as better music than all AAA stuff combined
