The trick is you have to find a company that will put you on their insurance so you dont have to pay for your own insurance and also find a company that doesnt have forced dispatches .

    Mr Allen,
I can see it in your face before you opened your mouth that YOU SIR ARE TIRED.
Find your balance. Nothing is more important then the *ability* to provide for your family. You must succeed to give to your loved ones. If you don’t do it, then who?
Sleep well Mr Allen. You earned it.

A driver is a slave and a gold mine to this industry. Thousands upon thousands of dollars are negotiated into these loads, which should mostly go to the drivers. Unbeknownst, upper management and multiple brokering swindle the pay to themselves.
As of recently, the trick is to find as many ways to take the pay that drivers generate. You see, insurance companies actuarial project risks of drivers(truckers, delivery) which is extremely high. 1 to 100, drivers are #8 in risk/dangerous. By comparison, Police officers are just recently in the 20 ish range, getting riskier from 30/40 range.
Again, drivers are around 8 from the top dangerous. So the sweet spot, or the juice in premium driving pay is hazard/risk pay. So a 1200 mile run might be worth $4000-$3000, as a high risk critical expedite mission. And it's not a delivery. It's a mission.
Drive Washington state to San Diego winter time hotshot. A mission. Or I-80 dead winter cross country. A dangerous mission.
And $3k to $4000 pay, this sounds expensive, but the customer is doing cartwheels paying this cheap. Because, no benefits, no dispatcher, no insurance and no fuel, no maintenance, no repairs.
Because guess what boys and girls. It's all coming out of the DRIVER'S pay! 3k-$4000.
After that contract changes hands up to 4 times, skimming $500 each shuffle. The driver ends with maybe $1200 or less. Netting $800 to $1000 after fuel expenses.
If you love to drive, you're better off driving an attraction site tour bus hourly. Safer!!

@@williamrobinson6680 something needs to change with these %^^#%&**:#@/^;:## brokers I'm done with them ruining the industry. Hell even with high fuel if brokers weren't fn everyone people could still live. This would be such a sweet job if people weren't so gready. Seen one guy offering offering 85-1.00 a mile. Lol you would have to run 6,000 miles a week, I'm unsure on mpg I just use 10 to be safe at 5 bucks a gallon. 6 grand minus 3 grand in fuel is 3,000. How much is insurance? 250-500 a week? Van payment 350 a week. Of course napkin numbers but close enough to get an idea. Go with 2200 and eventually oil changes and blow outs. Food? Haven't seen one of these with fridge and microwave yet. Ah shit and here comes taxes. Bye bye 2200 that you need all of to keep your business afloat. So your down to at least 1500 bucks a week IF you were doing 6000 miles every week at buck a mile.
MIND you i WANT to do this gig. But 6000 miles a week is 312,000 miles a year. Well your van is dead and you still have 5 years of payments left, NOW WHAT? Rebuild engine? 20+ grand? Down time for that?
Good luck on running that kind of mileage, but that's what it would take and that wouldn't be a decent living.
You can make 2800-3000 grand a week in a semi with a bed and fridge as a company driver lol.
Expedited critical is supposed to pay. Stupid brokers sitting on the lake, at home banging their old lady just living the life screwing everyone.
Shoot even if vans weren't 80,000, or loads paid more people could survive. If vans were 40k i would just buy a new one every year and keep Rollin.
And my gosh company driver expedited van, and 1099 may as well work at McDonald's.
It's funny he even implied mentioned it. Going out there for money lol.
I don't want to knock doing this. The whole idea of doing this is NO LOGS AND I COULD KILL THE MILES. But miles don't equal money, that's the problem. You're free to just run your butt off, the whole point of being free of logs to run more miles to make more money. But the money isn't there. It's really quite depressing. Imagine what you could make if they paid half way ok.
I think even at 1.50 you could make something happen. But imagine 2 bucks a mile with insane mileage. Shouldn't expedited be up toward 3 bucks a mile? Probably is and brokers are making more than drivers... and then you get companies offering a buck a mile, if they are getting 2 bucks a mile what a shaft. I unfortunately don't know rates, one guy said he averaged 2.15 a mile for the week. So I can only imagine all these companies offering .85-1.00 are just raking it in and they don't have to pay for fuel with their buck of profit.
Seen one company showing 1.10-1.40 .
It's all about greed and ripping people off.
The drivers are the poor suckers of the industry. Like you said on that one paragraph , all that stuff comes out drivers pay. I make 3 grand a week driving a company semi with nothing coming out my check.
I just don't want to drive a semi anymore.

They are salivating, posting driving opportunities, waiting for suckers to rob. I heard that FMCSA might be investigating these brokers for their nefarious business practices. Let's hope so. Again. Driving is the 8th most dangerous job. Even worse than a cop at 20 ish in danger, with 1- most dangerous, i think cell phone tower work? and 100 ...selling pencils, cupcakes or something lol .

A good topic idea in which I have seen people clueless or make the big mistake of leaving be it at Shipper/ Reciever is: What to do if your unit is damaged during loading/unloading. I saw this 1st person in ATL at airport and I advised the guy not to leave, and call law enforcement to file report. Unfortunately, he didnt listen and I noticed him on highway ramp with a flat due to damage to wheel wells. It was too late at that point. I had it happen to me years ago, but I had a good broker; I had been working with walk me through it. You would be surprised how many people dont know what to do. Heres A Tip For Transmission Fluid Changes . . .
To learn how often and when to service your vehicle's transmission fluid.
How often to change transmission fluid on Sprinter?
If your van is constantly in load: like RV or plumbing or towing. Then you need to do the service more often. If you travel mainly around the city, in urban mode: there are a lot of stops, traffic jams, and traffic lights, or you have a lot of cold starts: delivery of packages, etc. then you need to change at least every 40,000 miles.
If you travel 8-12 hours a day between cities and you do not have a full load, then you can service transmission every 50,000-90,000. . .

I don’t think he had what it takes. Three months in and he was only driving 400 miles.

@@speedyfinalmile shit no matter what he was making none of it will he owe taxes on . If he makes $35,000 a year working with you -12,000 tax credit - $20,000 per diem $80 a day over the road expenses , that's $32,000 right there another $3000 in expenses and everything he makes is his , doesn't owe IRS shit . To make $700 a week tax free money isn't bad for not owning your own vehicle

@@seanburdelik5216 I don’t know what his situation was. Just know he needed to be more proactive and independent. You learn by your mistakes in that business.

Get serious , guys out there driving for a fleet owner need to get 3,000 miles just to make $1000 after they pay for fuel . The van business is for owners who drive for themselves , there isn't enough money in the cargo van game to be working for owners of vans . .30 cents a mile isn't enough to drive any vehicle . Period

100% to get the most out of the industry money wise you need to own your own vehicle. Unfortunately not everyone can and they need a stepping stone. I drove for a fleet owner when I began. Did it for 10 mos.
