    Hello to you guys SBTG, from an avid watcher of your channel from South Africa. Purchased exo air 520 today, always been a shark fan, here is for hoping its as good. Great channel

      Thank you for watching and the kind words. While Shark does make some nice helmets they are no match for Scoprion when it comes to helmets in a price point like the 520. Enjoy your new helmet. - Van

    Thank you for the video! I am researching on four different scorpion exo helmet T510 & T1400 and T520 & exo 1400 carbon air helmet too!

    I have the R1 Air. Love it. Only drawback personally is the lack of drop down visor. T520 will be my next purchase now that the days are getting shorter. In regards to putting glasses on, my Oakley Flak 2.0 slide right in, no issue. However, I have a pair of Puma glasses, similar style but with thinner temples, that mimic what is shown in the video. Could be the stiffness of the temples which creates the initial pause and misalignment.

    Well done video! I'm deciding between this T520 and the EXO ST1400, the ST1400 is nearly double the price but only benefit seems to be the carbon fiber shell and the additional face shield. For an average rider on the road, is there any reason not to go with this T520 at half the cost? (The weight seems similar between the two models as well, .2 lbs difference I believe)

      If you are looking for a good helmet and the most value this one is the way to go over the 1400. Sure the 1400 is a little nicer, that said this one is excellent. - Van

    Looks like a good upgrade from a 420. Do you think the cheek pump is in the way for the cardo microphone?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 2 lety +5

    Thanks for the good review. What helmet over this one do you recommend for the most quiet helmet you tested? Was thinking about the exo1400 or the rpha 70. Thanks!

      The Scorpion ST-1400 is quieter than the 520 and a better helmet than the HJC IMO. - Van

    If I already have a scorpion helmet can I just replace the liner or do i have to replace it the helmet will be 6yrs old in june

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 2 lety +3

      It is a good idea to replace a helmet every five years. They do sell replacement liner kits but I would not spend the money on a helmet that is ready to be replaced. - Van

    I have my heart set on a Scorpion EXO R1 air but this is a much cheaper option. Is there a huge difference between this and the R1, or at the very least a 200 dollar difference?

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      IMO the R1 Air is 100% worth the additional $200 if you can swing. - Van

    I thought Dot certification is about as meaningful as my uncle Earl's who scratches himself in public.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 2 lety +8

      The DOT cert is not a bad cert, the issue is the way it is policed. IMO this is a non issue with reputable brands such as Scorpion. The problem with the DOT cert is there is no batch testing so it is run on the honors system. Big name brands with years of history will not label the helmets if they will not pass the test. Also important to note if a helmet passes the Snell or ECE fair to expect it will pass the DOT.
      Hope this helps, Van

    I am a new rider and i have this helmet and its amazing, but when i ride and the sun is shining i cant see anything, i would even say that its worse with the sunglasses down.
    Is it something i am doing wrong?

    How far is the windshield open at its first detent?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před rokem +1

      The first detent is not a large opening. The fog free treatment on the Scorpion helmets is very good, most never need to crack the shield. - Van

    Between this one and an AGV K6 which one should I go for?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 10 měsíci +1

      IMO they are very different helmets considering one (the Scorpion) has a drop down inner screen and the K6 does not. If you do not see yourself using a drop down inner screen the K6 would be a better option. Personally I prefer a helmet without the drop down inner. - Van

    Is it loud on highway ??

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 2 lety +1

      It is winter here now so I have not had an opportunity to ride in it. Overall Scorpion helmets are not typically loud. The inflatable cheek pads allow you to get the fit just right which helps reduce the noise. - Van

    • @robhuff1190
      @robhuff1190 Před 8 měsíci

      Define loud? I have an R1 Air and ride highway quite a bit. I use earplugs and have comms unit. I will say that when the wind is zero to light (early morning hours) the windnoise is not intrusive. Speed dependent of course. Above 85mph it is noticeable but not irritating. I can listen to music or be on a call with no issue.
      In the afternoons, when the winds are much higher, it does get a little loud for me. Listening to music or having a conversation gets more difficult at highway speeds as you're getting buffeted from higher wind speeds.
      This is my personal experience. YMMV.

    That looks obviously like the Chinese copy of the shoei gt air 2... not sure if that is a good sign or a bad one, that is long enough on the market to have competitive prices to this helmet here.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear Před 2 lety +14

      This is 100% not a copy of any other helmet. Scorpion has been producing it's original designs since 2005 or 2006 (not 100% on the date) and offers some of the best price point helmets on the market today. Stand up company. - Van
