I noticed it last time I fought him. I love that in Phase 2 the soundtrack sounds so encouraging, like Andrius wants us to wind the fight. (What he kinda does, because we are invited to train by fighting him)

@@LibraritheWizardOfficial Yeah I don't use Noelle for primary DPS lol. Her job is letting the rest of the team faceroll over mechanics. Also like half the functional teams in the game already use Bennett, so cryo shouldn't be a problem. Benny should pretty much be permanently on the team from the moment you pull him.

Why does a female voice + a male voice in a boss theme for a boss battle in which lumine doesn't make an appearance equate to lumine and aether singing to each other and it makes me so emotional 😢? I don't get it

Fr, i tried beating him when i was like, ar27 and i was terrified.
I recently tried to beat him again and the battle didn't even last 5 minutes 🧍
I thought this said Azhdaha and I was about to rant about how you can't fight Azhdaha at AR35. Man I'm really blind
Started about 3 weeks ago and currently AR43
When I first fought him I immediately noticed the music, and the fact that it was a really fun boss fight, so after a few mins I went immediately to fight him after the first battle, with him 8 lvls above my characters after like 10+ minutes I managed to beat him somehow lol.

i love all of the battle music (regular and boss themes) but WOW rage beneath the mountains blows me away the MOST by far of any track

Yeah, Azhdaha theme is my all time fav so far. I mean, how can you beat an ancient chinese symphony (i presume) rock battle theme? This is also the first song with officially releases lyrics as well. Others only use acapella

his phase 1 theme is an electro tango, which is one of the hardest ballroom dances to learn. so very apt that it makes you want to dance; it's how childe sees this phase, a game/dance with the traveler
I love it because it represents his playfulness during the first phase perfectly. The fact that's it tango makes it 100 times better, it's almost romantic.

Listening to Yu-Peng Chen's boss themes in their order of appearance is just incredible! Each contributes its own sense of character, place, narrative, and delivers it all in an adaptive package that interacts with the player's in-the-moment experience.
This is my own geeky monologue, but Raiden Shogun's is easily one of my favorites. The Execution stage juxtaposes La Signora's theme with Raiden's and abruptly stops to mark the death of Signora (a device that Berlioz also used to represent an execution in movement IV of his 19th century Symphonie Fantastique). Raiden Phase 1 uses two dueling, DISTORTED shamisens to illustrate the battle between the Traveler and Raiden, all while a rhythmic heartbeat sound shows us the nerve-wracking stakes of this battle and gives us momentum to keep moving. Raiden Phase 2 raises the tempo and volume while adding tons of new orchestration (low brass, an active string section, shakuhachi carrying the melody) to signify that the battle has reached a new, more energetic, and climactic stage. And WTF is even going on when it becomes a Japanese/trap music fusion!?! Even though the theme fades out after that, the player would then hear the track fade back in with the beginning of Phase 2 and rise again to match the energy of the moment. Take notes, people! This is how you compose adaptive game music.
Yes! Azhdaha's theme (Rage Beneath the Mountains) is very similar in one of the aspects --- The fusion between modern music and traditional music, blending in to create another level of perfection. That piece really does know how to create tension, and represent Azhdaha's own anger by mixing in so many styles while still keeping a steady rythm, plus the way a motif was established at the start, AND resolved later, it makes the piece even more satisfying than it already is.
@@darkmatter9651 That one's really something! I can't say I've ever heard a Chinese erhu and electric guitar played side by side. I love how the heroic melody in Rage Beneath the Mountains counteracts the foreboding melody of Ode to Azhdaha (which plays in phase 1 of the battle). I just listened to it again to hear the introduction and resolution of that motif you mentioned and you're totally right! It sounded almost like a classical sonata form when I listened to it that way 🤯
@@grungeguy97 The motif I mentioned, in addittion to my previous point and to clarify, was the one with the erhu played at the start and it was still in the piece constantly, but it's never resolved by the erhu until the very end. I feel honored someone took the time to analyze a point I made, haha. I'm glad to be able to discuss music with someone who is also willing to! After all, music is what really makes videogames stand out and become my favourites.
And how Childe's theme changes moods as he goes through his transformation, from playful to arguably demonic? It's just *chef's kiss*

@@darkunykorn404 I'm so glad you brought that one up because I totally get that! Childe's transformation theme, Rapture of the Chaos, signals such an abrupt change in mood. It's as if Childe is swapping out his persona as the friendly and charismatic guy looking for a challenge to instead become the feared Harbinger known as Tartaglia who exacts the Tsaritsa's will upon her enemies. Goosebumps is right
And with this compilation you can witness Yu-Peng Chen’s music get better and better with each new boss

Me too, especially the phase 2. I love how it's just a remix of Inazuma overworld theme, yet it feels heavy. As much as i'm dissapointed with Inazuma Act 3, it still has a special place in my heart. The battle with Raiden is just so fun. Not so much with weekly boss Raiden tho

Why is signora's second phase not getting the recognition it deserves? You can practically feel her emotions as you listen to it, and it has a very "boss battle" feel, like the "this is the point that i've been fighting to get to, this is the final battle" feeling. Love it sm

But Signora didn't become one and I heard it's because, in China, bad people who do awful things can't ever be seen as heroes or made playable, lest players might identify with them in some ways.
I don't know how much there is to this but if it's true, it might depend on whether the devs/story tellers think Scara's morally redeemable.

Agreed! Osial’s theme always gets me- the fight was so special to me and I remember feeling *ALL* the emotions during the battle. Just remembering everyone working together as well, one of my favourite moments throughout my Genshin experience. :)

Bane of ambition is really neat! I like the combination of heavy synth bass and electronic sounds with traditional Japanese instruments. It really fits for the electro archon!
But... Her phase 2. Thunderings of the Merciless. That is a rollercoaster of emotions. And i'll never forget the cutscene when Ei smiled right before the song drops and starts playing. The fact she smiled almost just told us that she was okay with this change of pace in eternity. Lol. I love it so much I just I can't it's such a good song! No words can describe how much I love Thunderings lol.
say what you want about the Inazuma story arc, but finally icing La Signora was so freaking satisfying. Can't wait to murder every other Fatui Harbinger.

I like that, while Childe’s version of the Harbinger motif playing into the cello and the organ, hers is more focused on the vocals and the electric guitar.

the first one, i feel like a pokemon trainer fighting a pokemon boss in a cave. the second one i feel like fighting a boss in legend of dragoons. Tartaglia i feel like meeting a boss in monster hunter. Signora's theme is so good, like i meet Sephiroth in FFknight
