Nice job Andrew, you covered the subject well.
Also thanks for the advice it really helps when you pros take the time to teach I have learned a lot from watching your videos and others as well so I thank you guys
Thank you for taking the time to teach us these techniques, I appreciate you. Kane Fishing Gear
I just got to use mine more...but it hard to do sitting... I'm disabled and can't stand up and fish...but I do like them...good video man...
Great tips. I throw mine on a spinning rod. Seems like until somewhat recently that was common practice. Anyone else throwing them on a medium action 7’ spinning rod?
I grew up fishing Rebel and Rapala jerkbaits inshore, in the 70's (we didn't call them jerkbaits back then). We always used spinning rods and I still do now, including freshwater fishing.
Some great tips here, love throwing the jerkbait, don't throw it as much as I use to but have been using alot more lately
Thank you Andrew.
Good stuff Andrew …. Thanks
Dope video, I liked watching you on Scott Martins CZcams channel when y’all were hitting up the tourneys. 🤙🏼
Awesome content !! Could we see an in depth forward scan tutorial..?? Actual fish biting bait… thanks for the bass tips n knowledge!
This was really helpful. Thank you, Texan Bill Burr
Great video thanks. New to jerk baits but loaded my box with Oneten and World Minnows and can’t wait for the ice to break in the SHLM archipelago 👊
great video on the jerk bait andew, its been hard for me to use esp when i get in to a hurry, . like the info, will try it. thanks.
Now I'm thinking 🤔... even though I've caught fish on jerk baits before, maybe I've gone about it wrong my whole life? Good video, great explanation. AND, The pool makes a difference to the visualization. Thanks for that too!
Thanks
Only rod I have that's 6" 6' is a lew's tournament TP1 spinning rod, the rest are 7+
Would a 6’6 speed stick work good for this style I’m about 5’9
Hi, how about Lews 6’ 7” jerkbait with the shorter handle?
What are your thoughts on that shimano jerk bait that came out.
I see the All Season Feeder in the background. If you don't have a place for it, I can put it at my lease! 😂
Two quick gear-related jerkbait tips…realistically, the only colors you *need* are a dark and light pattern of your local forage fish and a transparent. If you’re gonna specialize in jerkbaits, obviously you wanna expand that…but that’s your main color palate. Im more of a jig “specialist” so a few colors is all I need and they do a great job. As far as combos go…go as light as you can realistically afford. I use a st croix victory 68mxf/metanium and it’s DYNAMITE. I can’t bring myself to dedicate one of my NRXs or conquests to reaction fishing but the victory line is a perfect compromise. For $200, it’s as light and comfortable as an NRX at the expense of sensitivity. If you dig into your preferred brand’s offerings a bit, I’m sure you can find something similar. St Croix isn’t the only company with the “genius idea” of making lightweight rods at a reasonable price.
Thanks for the tips!!! If anyone’s got the time let’s see how many times the word “Jerk” was used 😂
Best tip I didn’t know about was the double reel to get a bit more depth thanks 👍
I fish the jerkbait all year long and have success on it most of the time. Great search bait for a angler that don’t have a fish finder but can find fish with the jerkbait on the bank, boat and kayak. Helpful tips. 👍
I just started using jerk baits yesterday man and I have been missing out. I bought one call a Rapala ripstop. Threw it yesterday for the first time to give it a try and I was attracting a lot of fry, on the 4th cast a 4.89 smallmouth smoked it I was shocked. Now im hooked lol.
I’m glad to hear that, that is the answer. I was looking for I fish tons of square bills, Texas rigged creature baits, and a lot of jigs too but new to jerk baits. I just thought they best mimic the movement and profile of the bait fish I’ve seen in the area. They seem to stop and dart and stop and are skinny as a rail. Fishing with a rainbow trout colored lure today, I’m actually about to get out of the truck and get in water. Looking to get some translucent jerk baits for ultra Clearwater.
Thanks for the tips, I must say though what you said was'nt what i was expecting. I was expecting you to say ( as i've seen alot of pro's do ) is a continuous hard jerk all the way in. I'm glad you did'nt because that makes no sense at all, again thank you for the tips and your time
Same here. I never tried to do a continuous ripping like I usually see. Cadence or dead sticking is much more productive for me.
I throw 8 in the winter. It’s more for the thrill lol 😂
Love a jerk bait live near Kentucky lake awesome bait! Thanks great video!!
Hey Beavis !
He said " I've seen it more times than not when I'm sittin' there jerkin' it "
I'm just now getting into jerk bait fishing I'm using a 6ft medium action rod spinning reel 5:1 gear ratio on 8lb monofilament the thinner the line gets the bait down deeper jerk bait selection to get in to look as natural like minnow and shad 4 inch to 6 inch my issue is I know you fish jerk baits on slack line to get the maximum action out of the bait I don't know if I'm counting to long or not long enough I've also rip the bait through the water some time I get a reaction strike where the bait hits the side of the bass . and I tried methods on pop pause pop pop pause pop pop pop pause I just haven't figured out the secret to it so I don't know what I'm doing wrong
As a newbie, it would have been great to see your rod and line while you split screen to see how the jerk bait performs.
15 lbs minimum on most parts of the CA Delta because of vegetation. Bass will bury down into grass and you'll have at least 10 lbs of salad plus the fish
I just run 20 pound braid for every situation unless I know for a fact I’m fishing an area that’s littered with super sharp cover then it’s 20 pound mono all day just comes over rocks and sticks better then braid
Why use heavier flouro when fishing shallow. Flourocarbon sinks. Also with having smaller treble hooks wouldn’t you want mono that doesn’t sink but more importantly with a trouble hook bait have some stretch to keep the the fish from head shaking the hooked hole bigger. Kinda like having a rod with more parabolic bend to keep pressure but also give more. These are just questions. Im not good at jerk bait fishing also haven’t spent much time doing it but Im making it a goal to start throwing it more and become confident in it.
They heavier flouro will have more surface area and not fall as fast. He doesn't need the mono stretch because he is using a parabolic crankbait rod. Most people fish jerks on a lighter action or more parabolic rods. The best jerkbait angler I know personally fishes them on a medium 6'9 spinning set up.
@@jeremypierce1607 6'9" Medium Light Spinning gear is absolutely the way to go. I fish it on 12lb Gliss-sometimes a mono leader, sometimes not.
I have a hard time with that because you said live scope and I hate spotlighting
7' Medium Fast action rod. 12 lb fluorocarbon. To me that's the golden standard!
One of my favs fishin a jerk bait.
I throw jerk baits in Lake Erie for walleye. Do you have any experience using your cadence while fishing?
Thanks for the vid. What Jerk were you throwing, so I know not to buy one. That thing was aweful
Oh snap it's Richie cunningham think u for the pointers
You cant even compare the megabass 110 to any other brand of jerkbait, just the confidence aspect for me I cant even make a cast with any other brand of jerkbait
Drrrrrreeeeeeewwwwwww 😎🤙🏿🎣
Do you ever use a spinning rod?
I do. I think you get better action and have more control-especially on 8lb line. Randy Blaukat agrees.
Number 1 tip for jerkbait never reel it down, always start twitching the 110 to get it down you will get a ton more bites
Live scope to me is against rules of fishing an using like magnefieing glass in 30 feet of water bed fishing its surpose to be NATURAL fishing nothing about surporting the BEAST is natural
🇺🇸
Is that a green screen?
Nothing destroys your line like fishing a fluke and i can’t afford to replace my line after every fishing trip. Yes it catches fish but it will bankrupt you in the process.
You lost me at $180 rod is “not breaking the bank” lol this sport is getting crazy. 1k in gear, 80k boat with radar to catch 2lb bass all day is just silly
You know what's REALLY funny ?? Going and fishing 20 yards away from Skeeter McWifebeater and his $10 used flea market Zebco combo, who " aint had no gull durn bites all day, and pull out 5 bass in an hour with my $450 Loomis rod that can cast far enough to actually reach the fish, and sensitive enough to know when there's a light bite. It's even funnier when they ask about it. And then get upset. And then pile into his $60k brand new Ford truck that devalued $20k when he drove it off the lot.
You know the type.
Biggest mistake that I made was even buying these over priced baits. Can't tell you how many people I see coming through the cove wasting their time.
Bro, yer talking to bass fishermen in the south. Let me explain.
" I aint never give no " is the most used phrase.
" I aint never give no $30 fer no pocket knife ! "
Meanwhile they buy $10 gas station junk every month cuz it breaks every month.
I aint never give no $179 fer no dam fishy pole !! "
Said as he pays $10 for a flea market used Zebco combo.
Is the earpiece necessary? .. lol
I’ve had quite a few guys complaining about sound so I used my ear buds
How many average fishermen can drop $179 rod? If I did that I’d be divorced but I could have a good rod. That’s like FFS or even a trolling motor. If they didn’t cost so much more could buy them.
The title says underwater view. Not once was there an underwater view. LOL
Then you didn’t watch the whole video. There were quite a few different angles in the 2nd half of the video.
Man these anglers are jerkin it all day it seems. For me it gets rough after 4 or 5 times.
wanna run some warzone with me tonight?
$179.00.i avoid these prices cheaper rods don't mean poor performance.anything part fiberglass works for me cheaper as well can afford more have @ it!!!
Change your fishing spot !! There are no fishes in your swimming pool !!😂
#1 rule of jerk bait fishing to me Jerk jerk drink you soda eat sanwhich jerk jerk read a book LMAO take patient to fish for bass
Somebody should songify this. jerk pause...jerk jerk pause....crank it down to the strike zone...... jerk pause...jerk jerk pause.
KVD jerkbaits are not good gear.
Oh my God. 80% of the video was nonsense just babble. Get to the point. You need to review your videos before you post them. Good editing.
But you need to clearly define your mission when posting the videos
Great tips! From what I know as well is letting the bait sit on the dead sticking allows the weights inside to shift and give a subtle rolling,. Drives bass nuts!
