😍🥰👋👋👋👍👍😄oh my😄, it's been 60 years since I last heard and sang this song, I loved it as a child. You two made me happy today!!! your dog loved it too❤💥
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Martha!
Thanks for coming by. 🙂🙂🙂😊😊😊
Nice looking hound
The hound says "thank ya much"! 🙂🙂
Ha ha! The toughest part of playing the banjo is learning to bear the jokes. 😉😜
I'm still investigating the do's & don't's of using copyrighted songs.
I have played around with Dead Skunk for a few years now. If I figure out how to license I will probably do that one.
Thanks for listening. 🙂🙂🙂
My dad used to sing this song and the only time I heard it was on an episode of little house on the prairie being sung by Victor French who played Mr Edwards
Good memories for you. 🙂🙂🙂
The real Dan Tucker was a beloved Baptist preacher in Elbert County, Georgia. That is where my mother grew up.
Interesting. I suppose the legend grew significantly over time. 🙂
I have lived in Elbert County for 60 years. I went to school with Dan Tucker's descendants.
I understand that the song was written by slaves as a way to thank him because he did
things to help them. Dan Tucker is berried in Elbert County and you can go to his grave.
His grave stone was stolen at one time and after a few years it was recovered.
@BobbyDawgHSMM very interesting. Thanks for sharing that. 🙂
@@BobbyDawgHSMM Which school was it? During my childhood and youth, the highlight of each year for me was attending the Bone Family Reunion in Elbert County each summer. Usually, all of us cousins went swimming at King Hall Mill. .

That was Elbert County High school.
We had no middle school in those days.
Being a fan of the banjo (hearing it, not playing it. I never could get used to that 1/2 string on there where a bass string had oughta be) I once went to hear John McEuen (of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and he said on the way to the gig he stopped to get some throat lozenges, which he did and on his way back to his car with his banjo layin' on the seat he remembed he had forgotten to lock his doors. Well when he looked in his window to see if his banjo was still there, it was and there was three more in there as well. True story, I think, HaHa... Keep 'em comin' Stevie Ray. I'll be right here. You ever hear 'Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road ? Maybe ya'll could try that one or 'Get a Load of This' by R Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders
So, are you playing banjo now?
@@StevieRayBanjo Not at all. I just enjoying listening.
Well then,,,it's time to begin. 🕺💃
@@StevieRayBanjo oui pour la retraite j'y pense.
