- Video: Two afternoons/evenings of spotting high speed trains at Boxley Tunnel on High Speed 1, featuring many Eurostar and Southeastern action.
The first spot filmed back in early 2018 did not go too well to be a solo video, the weather was bitterly cold and very gusty out in the Kent countryside, as well as sunset was very early. So I went back in the summer with the temperature being much warmer and a longer period of daylight, it went a lot better so I merged the two.
As always this spot at Boxley Tunnel gave some great moments of high speed action, a few crossovers, a lot of arcing pantographs (seen at night in the first spot) and great sounds of trains approaching through the tunnel and from miles away (particularly with the 373s).
TRAINS INCLUDED:
Eurostar Class 373 TGV TMST e300s & Class 374 Velaro e320s and Southeastern Class 395 Javelins
BONUS - El Al Boeing 747-400 departure from London Heathrow.

Don't even need to see a Class 373 (e300) to tell when one is passing at night! Going to miss that distinctive whoosh when they are all eventually retired. Loving those sparks at night as well! Great vid
0:47 You hear them coming. Long live the 373 TMSTs!
No offence mate, more like 0:50. Whether its 0:47 or 0;50, the class 373 is the best train in the Universe!!
@@AirRailTales
You will look back at this in 5 years and hate yourself for it
I love the dog chasing the train, brilliant. JH
1:06 that tgv sounds so good. It has a very unique sound
It's a Eurostar not a tgv but the sound is good
@Tommy M do u mean tgv tmst
@@owenspicer2399 The Eurostar sets are a subtype of TGV.
The standard Eurostar's nicely repainted, awesome footage at Boxley tunnel, nice sparks from the pantographs, captured in this video
I worked at the depot for 10 years, safe to say I miss fixing the 373s. Had some absolutely amazing times there!
Awesome night footage at Boxley tunnel and bridge, headlights, streak of light from the train windows, flashing from pantographs.
i love this class 373 Eurostar
Thankfully Eurostar didnt replace all the E300's they have retained 8 have all been are refurbished and nicely repainted.
2:24 RIP El Al, KLM and Qantas 744s
I liked the old livery on 373s better 😭😭😭
Atleast a refurbished 373 is better than no 373
Yeah
Ahh… at least it’s better than nothing…
I love republished e300 new lights there are brighter than original
i very much liked the old e300 look, so i was kind of displeased when they changed it. but the more i look at it, the more i like the new livery. i think it looks quite nice :)
Another awesome video of high speed action on High Speed One, which I really enjoyed. :)
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed. :)
You're welcome and you chose great positions too. :)
That led lights on the E300 looks sick.
Jeez that's serious speed!
Awesome 👍❗
Fantastic video :)
Thank you very much :)
Great video mate. I love the class 374s ;).
Thanks very much :)
@@CHOO-CHOOPlane no problem ;)
The El Al 747's are now retired RIP El Al 747 btw my local airline
I don’t like the class 374s but I LOVE The class 373s SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH, do any of you like them as much as me?
of course! i like e300 more
I'm booked January the 1st and 2nd 2019 with Eurostar, towards London St. Pancras from Brussels-South, and from London is E320. But Eurostar also told me the chance getting TMST/E300 from Brussels to London is also very high, if that comes true….. TGV TMST 😍
AutoslaapExpress I wish you all the best in getting on a TMST, though from personal experience its hard to get on one at certain times of the day.
Nice

Those 373 Eurostar trains sound like some sort of futuristic alien technology.
@@nexusoflife yeah. Sound more like alien space guns in my opinion
There's a lot of E320... 😞
Sadly that's how it is now, a lot of TMST sets are scrapped now. But I caught quite a few on both days.
Enjoyed video. Shame the 373s were scrapped, bar a few. I suppose that's progress
2:20 your camera has amazing zoom length.
Gonna miss the 373s. Maybe one might be taken to the British train museum in York I think.
All ready have
Brilliant!
@@horntail-wyvern2803 Nope, they only got a power car. They need to preserve a full trainset.

January is so cold, I hate it
Nice videos thanks! Is this a public access site? If so where do you park? I might go take a look one day!
do tunnel boom s occur often?
Does anyone think HS1 has to many bends ? . JH
I live near Boxley. Is that public access next to track?
Crismill or Stoney Lane is better!
Rest in peace class 373,We will always remember that Roar you made you will be best (date 1994 to 2020 dont give meh hate idk the date xd)
They aren't going yet
I wonder I should put signs that says 'speed limit:135km/h', or 84.375m/h.
that prank wouldn't work I'm afraid as HS1 doesn't use conventional speed signs speed limits and signals are displayed to the driver via a display in the cab.
That's clever by HS1
no, that would send you to jail and it’s impossible because they have the actual speed limits in the cab.
If I drive the Eurostar E320, I will activate the lock-speed mode to 135km/h.

Where do you think is the best place to see the Eurostars at Speed
As a whole I would say in France as there are longer stretches of 186mph track out there, but in the UK I'd say Boxley Tunnel.
@@CHOO-CHOOPlane Thanks so much for the ideas and if I have a chance mabye go to Boxley Tunnel! Also one last question, Do you know how frequent a e300 would pass at as there aren't many left so I was wondering if you know what sort of times they would pass? Thanks
The Paris and Brussels diagrams vary a lot, but the guaranteed ones are if it calls at Ashford International, goes to Marne-la-Vallee (Disneyland)/Marseille or Bourg St Maurice its definitely a 373.
@@CHOO-CHOOPlane Thanks So much!
I’d say the easiest place (if you live in london) is Stratford international (eurostars don’t stop there)
Waiting for our high speed American friends to comment 🤭
Class 394 is speed
Class 374 is the best so as class 373
