I smoked weed with H.R. in Chapel Hill back in 1989 or '90. I can't remember the specifics, I was smoking weed, I just remember being at a punk show after party (I think the Sex Police or Superchunk was playing the Cradle) at a house in Chapel Hill and one of my friends introduced me to H.R. and we all smoked a joint together. Good times!
HR and skateboarder Mark Gonzales would have the most amazing conversation ever..

I love HR It's just that it sad that that the Brains cannot go on with him. He's has gone over the mountain from being a born again Christian. He out grew the Brains in his own way and no matter what people think I hope he is at peace in life.

I saw the original line up when they reformed in 2000 or 2001. We had to park several blocks away because of some dumb reason I don't recall. We were about 2 blocks from the venue and about a block and a half from their bus when their bus doors opened. You could smell the ganja from a block and a half away. Lol. It was a phenomenal show. I felt like I was a 16 year old kid again.
H.R. is who he is ,if u dont think he is worthy now then ya never should a dug him back when...All the best to you H.R. thanx!!!

just watched a bad brains doc on hulu and it was good but I couldn't imagine paying money to see them play and have H.R wear a motorcycle helmet and not sing on a tour a few years ago ,,wish I could of seen them in there prime
He was absolutely amazing live on solo tour.
He knew something was wrong and his brain tumor was removed.
Now he wears a beautiful crown/cap made by my Armenian Priest's son.

HR is out there, but Goddamn I love the Bad Brains. I'm 48, been listening to them since I was in my teenz. I worked at several mental hospitals in the past and HR sure looks like he has Schizophrenia. You can see it in his body language, what he's wearing, what he says, everything. The drugs used to treat it are very nasty as well and could produce behavior like this. Maybe smoking tons of weed from a young age IS bad, especially in those with a predisposition to mental illness.

Marijuana can be a catalyst for Schizophrenia. I'm a psychology major and yeah, Marijuana at an early age can increase chance of being schizophrenic.

Mainly because he's been with the Brains since he was pretty young, I don't see where he had a spare 8 years to complete a doctorate. If you have a link to confirm this I'd like to see it. But hey, I hope he did earn a degree from a good school. You seem to take issue with me insinuating HR might be schizophrenic. I'm hardly the first one to say it. I suggest you watch some of the vids where he stands on stage and refuses to sing and just says weird stuff. It doesn't look like hes all there. But he's still a hero to me, a legendary figure in Punk.

I saw a Kickstarter for HR made by his girlfriend saying he has medical issues and very bad headaches to the point where he wakes up crying in the middle of the night ...they achieved the goal! I hope he gets his surgery that is needed ...I met HR in ft lauderdale last time bad Brains toured back around 2012
Crazycarls adventures I met his doctors sister at a festival, and she talked to me cause I had my bad brains roir shirt on, and she told me about his condition at the time. i had no idea until then

I spoke with the father of Eddie he's on the affordable care act , his Dr knows what's up and said it's called JFA ... but look on the Brightside at least he's not a victim in pain .

It's amazing how many people say they were at H.C shows - Most of us were outsiders but felt among family at the matinees. When I see something about the old scene some of the responses seem out of step .
