- How To Make Your Reserve Schedule | Bid With Me | Flight Attendant Chronicles 2021
Making your schedule is one of those things that’s never really gone over while in training and honestly there’s an art to doing it right.
While on reserve, you don’t have that much say in your schedule, especially in the beginning. This doesn’t mean you can’t make the most out of it. Learning how to organize your layers in PBS is probably the most important part. Here how I do it and some tips to help.

Love to see how happy you were sharing when you got your schedule. 😊
Thank you! glad you enjoyed the video 🤍
L❤️VE the hair! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Yasssssssssss, it’s the hair for me.👸🏽❤️
Lol! Thank you love 🤍🤍
This was sooo reassuring ! I leave for training on Monday and I have a couple weddings in 2022 I was worried about getting off for since my seniority will be so low but this was soo helpful thank you I love your videos ❤️
You can also call our bidding system and ask questions. I have a wedding next month to thing about too lol
ahhh good to know!!! Thank you for making these for us newbies! lol
Lol you got it girl
So informative! Yes please show your next bid
Glad it helps 🤍 I’ll do it!
Great job explaining this....
Thanks so much.
With Grad coming up next Friday, I need this info! Thanks!
You’re welcome! Yay on graduation. Congratulations 🎉
Love your vids!
Thank you so much 🤍🤍
Yes! 🙌🏽 please do another “Bid with Me” 😊
Okay! I definitely will
Girl this was so helpful !! Keep giving us the tea sis
Got you covered 🤍
Thank you this is very helpful
Glad I could help 🤍
Thank goodness for you!
Aww no worries 🤍
@@ArielRoseInternational It sucks they do not go over this in training or during IOE. It's been a journey learning all of this!
Yes please share more on the bidding. Also I have questions about setting up my channel. It’s saying I have to have 50 subscribers before I can go LIVE, otherwise I’ll have to transfer recorded videos from my FB page, too much work while I’m still learning my FA job. Thanks for sharing.
Please look at my “flight attendant chronicles “ playlist on my channel for more bidding videos.
I believe you do have to hit a certain number of subs before you gain access to all yt features.
Great great video, was exactly what I was looking for. Perfect explanation. Thx
so glad i could help 🤍
It’s so nice of you to do this video. At my former regional FAs kept their bidding strategies as though they were playing poker ( close to their chest). No info given so I Chayefsky with pilots & a very close friend later helped. I’m looking forward to using PBS.
I definitely believe you but everyone wants such different things with their schedule that I think there’s no harm in sharing.
Thank you for the tips. Your videos got me thru training! Now I’ve been on RE2 but still get show times of 0443 so what does AM/PM reserve mean exactly?
You mean when you’re already on a trip and have a report of 0443 or you’re starting a whole new trip at that time?
@@ArielRoseInternational yes! And my first show time was 0645
is there a place to find study material for the test the first day? super excited and nervous! your videos are awesome!
They provide it
Questions
1.)when do you get off reserve? Like how many years in?
2.) Whats your starting hourly rate? whats your per diem?
3.) Could you get 2 weeks off in a row (or all your days off in a row) if you wanted to?
Hey babe, so at my airline we have straight reserve so you’re on reserve until you’re senior enough to hold a line. It changes base by base.
We start at like 20 something and our per dime is like 2 something. Sorry I don’t remember but you can Google and see all the airlines starting rates compared!
At my airline you can absolutely have two weeks off in a row. You can be off the whole month if you can drop your trips lol. You work as much or as little as you want when you’re a line holder.
New here, This was helpful sis. I've been thinking of applying but was worried about how the schedule worked. What's a good airline to look into? Do you refer people?
The best airline for you depends on a lot of factors. I’d suggest maybe joining some Facebook groups. They tell you when apps are open. They aren’t always open.
Hey Ariel so I’m a SkyWest FA currently waiting on my IOE, and I’ve never heard the word layer. Can you explain to me a little in depth of what exactly that is?
When you’re making your schedule you’ll put the days you want off and am or pm. Once you put all those in you’d click on each one and assign it a layer between one a seven. If you want more info watch more of my bid with me videos 🤍
Adorable & Helpful
Aw thank you 🥰
Can u show how u do it on the computer?
what are your different streams of income as a flight attendant
How do you bid for a trip on reserve? A standby? A RAP? Can you show us please? I havent flown in almost 2 yrs. I forgot everything!
There’s trip options in the pbs system but on reserve you can’t bid for trips only days off and am/pm
Hi boo!! Start training on Monday, was wondering how similar are the study guides to the exams??? Lmk thank you💕
The study guides will have you fully prepared
Please do a demo bidding for us, your instructions are so helpful, thank you thank you!!
I’m no longer there so I can’t do a demo I’m sorry. Hope my videos can help 🤍
Hi I recently graduated as a FA and I was wondering if you would have any tips on how to bid if I wanna work every day and have paid hours rest off by the company instead of getting a crash pad?! Any tips?
I’m sorry I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to make happen. If anything if you just want to work a bunch you could just pick up trips. As long as there’s 24 hrs between when the trip ended and next starts you’ll be legal again. Does that help?
Ariel, can you explain to me the whole "no crash pad" and "commuting" dilemma. You mentioned how you didn't have a crashpad, right? So whenever your reserve shift ends and you're deadheaded back to Chicago for the night....do you just jump on a flight back to where you live instead of staying locally, and then just jump onto another flight the next morning before your report time?
I think the simple answer to your question is yes but every trip doesn't end with a deadhead but does end in ORD
@@ArielRoseInternational thank you so much! Oh, and the flights you use to commute to base…are they free or simply discounted? You should totally do a video on the travel perks of being an FA soon.
@@itsmekeeks1962 Chile no one would commute if we had to pay for those flight to get to and from work 😅😭 but I can definitely do a video on it
So, can you request overtime on your bid or that something you do in another way? I am having an interview for Spirit and I am worried not having enough hours to cover my expenses if selected!
You’d just have to pick up trips on your own, you wouldn’t do that in your bid.
I need to learn this!😣😅
You’ll get it 🤍
Can you pick up shifts while on reserved and being a newbie?
I believe you can but I never personally pick up when I was at regional
Can you request days off like vacation? Or is it all by bidding?
I know there they have Gold Days, possibly vacation as well. I’m sorry I never used it and not there anymore so I can’t remember fully but at my new company we do have actual vacation we can bid for.
Hi Ariel new FA here! Will be starting training soon. If I have a pre planned booked trip for 8 days will I still be able to go? The planned trip is after training ends of course, probably a month after. Any advise? Thanks so much!
Do you know how quickly they put you on line after training? If it’s something really important I’d maybe discuss it was a supervisor. If it’s just a regular vaca and you’re able to move your schedule around, that might work but be careful. You’ll be on probation. Feel free to book a call with me if you want to discuss this in more detail or training prep as well.
@@ArielRoseInternational thanks for responding! I hear they start you soon within 2 weeks on your own right away after training! My training starts 8/30 for 6 weeks. My pre planned vacay , flight tickets booked already is 10/13-10/21, 8 days . You think I’d get it off if I bid?
Hello! Thank you for your video! I am going to check them all out! I am not sure if all airlines have "layers." I will be going to Skywest training in January, so I am doing my research. Is it possible for you to write out a "layers" example. I am an older empty nester and what is most important for me is to go home to my hubby. So days off in a row are more important to me. How do you recommend I do my layers?
I no longer have access to the system so I wouldn’t be able to show you but your layer will have each day that you clicked on to have off listed out. Then you’ll have to assign it a layer 1-7.
@@ArielRoseInternational so would you say a layer is more of a list? 1-7, these are the choices of schedules I would like to get? Are you no longer a FA?
@@cassiealongi4339 yeah basically. And I still am just at a different company now.
@@ArielRoseInternational gotcha! Thank you! Still going to watch all your videos! Good luck with your new company!!
What happens if you don’t bid? You’ll just get assigned a random schedule? Cause I don’t particularly care about days off… could I technically not bid at all? Also, how far in advance do you get your schedule?
Yeah exactly you’ll just get the left over basically. At my company now I don’t bid. I believe they dropped on the 20th or near there
Is this PBS? We don’t have it at my airline but I’m trying to find out if it’s good or not.
Yes PBS
If u don’t wanna have off 11/12 days can u ask to have more work days
That’s just how I would structure my schedule. You definitely don’t have to have it like that and you are able to pick up trips on off days.
Can you add schedule reaction videos to your channel ?
I definitely can. I added it into my bid with me that’s going up next week 🤍 I’ll try to record them live from now on
@@ArielRoseInternational ommmggg I’m so excited !! It’s so fun seeing all the places you guys get to travel to for the month! I can’t wait to become a flight attendant
Hi! I saw this was from a year-ish ago. Are you still on reserve?
I’m no longer there. I was there for about a year and received a line a believe 11 months in but it’s different depending on the base.
Idk if it was luck or what lmao but I earned a composite line for next month & I didn’t bid at all 😂 & ive only been on the line less than 3 months 💀
Love to see it. Lol. It might be since you didn’t bid. I’m expecting a composite for September
I’m still confused 😂
Just got my cjo sept 21, could I ask you some questions ?
Sure. You can here or follow and DM on IG 🤍
What do you mean by “ first layer”?
Are you working yet?
So nervous I have a trip I planned before knowing I was going to be an attendant and I’ll only be 4 months in🥺
It could definitely still work out.
Layers? Where do you find that on PBS
If your picking your reserve days off, after you made the section and you see all the dates under the calendar, click on it and you see 7 little boxes come up. Those are the layers.
What’s a “stand up “?
It’s like continuous work. Working the last and first flight
Do you get sign up for the flight benefits while in training or only after you complete training?
Like at the very end of training
Hi! 😊 Do you prefer AM or PM reserve?
I am doing PM for the first time this month so I can give a better update at the end of the month.
@@ArielRoseInternational Thank you 🙏🏽
Do you prefer AM or PM? And why?
I am doing PM for the first time this month so I can give a better update at the end of the month.
What happens after video interview?
When I did it it was just that but it was during COVID. There may be an in person now but I’m not sure
You get what you get.bottom line, bid what u want, but it all goes by seniority.
This is true
So if you get 11-12 days off a month is it possible to have those all in a row and just work all your shifts for the month in row? 😂
Umm so kinda. But you can’t work more than 6 days in a row & your company would have to allow you to have some flexibility with your schedule but where I am now I’ve definitely bunched up things at the first or second half of the month & had the other half off.
Hey can you post an updated like this
No longer using this system so I can’t really do an update but if you have a question I’ll try my best to answer it 🤍
@@ArielRoseInternational how do you bid now I’m fascinated by airline stuff
@@Mohamedrashid10 I have to learn my new system 😭 standby for an update
Can your 11 days off be taken in a row ?
Typically not without vacation because the rest of your days would not give you a legal break. You cannot work more than 6 days in a row.
@@ArielRoseInternational so as long as I have the legal rest period in between one can take several days off in between the shift? Like a maximum of 3? Sorry for the silly questions, Im bidding tomorrow for the first time!! So excited (:
What was the best way for you to truly understanding PBS?
This is a really good question but idk if I have the answer 😅😭 I think the biggest thing for me was always doing all my layers and putting enough variety in my bids that I still got what I wanted but could still play the system. I hope that helped.

So what does your job actually entail? You guys check the safety equipment, serve drinks, what else?
Our day to day can look very mundane like that. Our jobs & what we go to training for is to have the ability to evacuate an entire aircraft in case of an emergency in 90 seconds or less. About 80% of what we learn we hope to never use. Our job entails us being safety professionals. If something goes wrong on the aircraft, we’re who everyone looks to for direct, deescalation & customer care.
