- Joshiro Maruyama has one of the best (in my opinion the best) Uchi Mata in the business right now. Everyone knows it's his go to move, everyone prepares for it, but he still manages to succeed with this throw. This is part 1 of Judo study dedicated to Maruyama's phenomenal Uchi Mata. In this part we run through some of the reasons why he is so prolific with this throw and why it is so hard to defend against.

YES! Glad to have to have you back.
Thank you! Glad to be back.
Great analysis. I’ve lost my uchimata a little as got older but this inspires me to get back on it. The grab and go really interesting. I love Maruyamas swagger. Shame he and Abe can’t both be at the Olympics - they are such fun to watch.
Thank you, agree, it's a shame they both can't go.
I like Ono’s swagger 😂 he knows he’s king type
Welcome back...what a wonderful video ! Please post more videos.
Thank you, there will definitely be at least one video by the end of the year!
i love you bro cant wait for part 2
Thank you!
HE'S BACK!
Can't wait for the next one
So nice to be a Judo student!
Brilliant.
That was great, thank you.
Glad to hear that, thank you!
This is great !
Amazing!
amazing! keep doing your videos
Thank you!
Thanks for the video bro 💪🏼 you are amazing 🙏🏻
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Can't wait for part 2!!!!!
Sorry for taking so long with this video I'll try to finish it by the next week.
Amazing video!
Thank you!
Un video genial, gracias
I'm not a judo player (I've just recently had some judo highlights pop up in my recs and fell into the rabbit hole), but this channel is seriously one of the best sports analysis channels period. The structure of the videos is really easy to follow and digest, straightforward explanations about what we're examining, immediately providing clear and annotated video clips to illustrate the point. Even the background music is solid - it's not distracting and kind of makes it easier to zone in on the content.
I also really liked how you broke down the different attributes/tactics Maruyama employs and then integrated them together. You almost never see this level of analysis of sport when it comes to looking at specific players beyond superficial remarks (Nadal hits with a lot of topspin, X player is really mobile, Y player is a dual threat, Z player is an "athletic freak" etc. etc.).
I hope you keep making these; this is seriously high quality content. Thanks!
I try to do my best, glad you liked it, thank you for watching!
very good video, thanks
Thank you for watching!
Brother, these videos are gold for all competitive judokas who are watching this.
good video we were missing you
Thank you, Isaac!
I belive this kid will become Olympic champion
JoJo reference and judo?! I feel blessed. Maybe this video will inspire me to use uchi mata more. Im more an Abe Hifumi guy but I have great respect towards Maruyuma
Both are awesome. There is Abe video in plans as well.
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 it would be great!!
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 Oh and maybe an Agbegnenou video while you're at it. She's insanely strong
Ho yeah nice job bro ! "Thanks for watchi g" thanks to you !!!
You're welcome!
One major component of Uchi Mata that you mention but dont stress enough is Maruyama's flexibility. Its the same as Ono. They are incredible powerful and explosive allied to amazing hip dexterity and flexibility. Basically they can elevate the foot in a 100% vertical stance doing the splits, maintaining balance. Once you can do that, its indefensable. For me their flexibility is what sets their Uchi Mata appart
Waiting for the next part, bro
It's on the way, should be out by the end of next week.
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 good luck!
"When performed incorrectly, it can demolish your opponent's testicles". An old Japanese sensei once told me the "traditional" way to do uchimata was to hit the balls the first time, that way your opponent would let you throw him the second.
awesome content btw ! did Inoue teach them to do Uchi mata that good, than why they did it in different way ?! not like Inoue did
Thank you!
Thanks for such a great content! It will be so nice if you upload the same about Uta and Hifumi Abe
You're welcome! I'll do one for Hifumi Abe and after that I'll see if it's worth continuing with this channel.
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 no doubt that it worth. There are so many great judokas and all of them have unique style, maybe not so stunning as Maruyama's or Abe's but it also worth analyzing. Also you can break down theirs other techniques such as Maruyama's yoko tomoenage or anything else. Your channel is the best among judo channels in youtube! Don't leave it!
Thank you for kind words, appreciate that. I have a long list of topics to cover, but it's going to be hard to do that as part time activity, but I'll give it a shot.
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 hi, where's the 2 part, bro?
New uchi is off hamstring and butt, back never touches
Yeah, here are so many different ways to do Uchi Mata .
👍👍👍
where is part 2?🥲
Sorry, my computer broke down so at this point I'm not sure when I'll finish the video. If I'm able to recover all files it should be done pretty soon, if not who knows.
