    I love the chroma key closeup camera. What a brilliant idea to have something already in focus and CELAR to see the important bits. Thanks for this play through. just got this and am fuddling through.

    12:50 Familars have the Ready keyword, which means they can be placed on your draw pile instead of discard, and you would immedietly get to draw them next turn.

    • @PauloRenato23
      @PauloRenato23 Před 2 lety +1

      indeed they have... it isn't a goof thou because the rulebook says that "Ready" cards can be placed on the Top of the Deck OR on the Discard Pile... a note will be made to reflect that :)

      Do the permanent cards count among the 3 cards in the play area or you still get to draw 3 when 1 is in play?

    You should have also started to fill back in the tavern cards once the player left the tavern.

    I like the theme and the mechanism recall in part Clank, but my concern is that there is not really an incentive to go far from the castle. I mean, you can just arrive in the plains, every turn you move 1 back and forth and hunt all that is possible. When are left a couple of rounds, just run back to the castle, Am I Wrong?
    The roses do not seem to be worth the effort and risk neither for the point or power.
    The deck-building part does not convince me neither. Most of the cards does not offer movement, which means that hunting a lot clog your deck and the digest action is not reliable, therefore making me think that staying close to the castle is even more important.
    I would have not put a turn counter, but I would have chosen a system like Deep Sea Adventure. You have to move away from the castle. If you decide to come back, you can only move back from now on, then, like in clank, once one of the players goes back to the castle, other players have 3 turns to go back.

      sure, you could do that, in the same way that in dominion you can simply buy progressively better money cards and ignore everything else. that forms a baseline strategy, and it'll do okay, but smart play using all that the game offeres will do better. if you're not striving to move around much, then a lot of the speed you're generating will be wasted, since you can only buy one card per turn. so better to move and grab treasures or objective tiles *in addition* to buying one card per turn :)

    Looks like a fun game. Just thought it was a bit weird thematically that a vampire goes to church to digest priests, and that the church doesn't do damage to a vampire

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 2 lety +2

      a "kinder" way to look at it is the vampires never kill anyone... they're just dragging an entoruage of folks around with them, and so if you return to the folks home, you can drop them off safely :)

    So just watching this run through, this doesn't really seem like a "deck builder" to me. In a deck building game, you typically start with a few mediocre cards and you add better cards to your deck as you go. In this game, you have all the power cards you are going to get in your hand at the beginning of the game and the more cards you "add" to your deck, the worse your deck gets (for the most part, I do realize a few of the starter cards benefit from having humans in your deck as well, so hunting a bit can help, but there is definitely a point where it would be "too much").
    In this run through, for example, he went through half the game and didn't reach the roses...playing the way he played, I don't think you ever get the roses because you will nearly always be slower coming back than going out. I think the strategy really comes down to how far do you want to move out before you do any hunting at all...and then rush back without much hunting as well (granted since he hunted on the way in, he can focus moving on the way back, so there is that, but getting an all-human draw would kill you at that point).
    It's an interesting game, but like I said, rather than "deck building", I see it more along the lines of "anything you do to get points creates a risk later" rather than "building" your deck...I could see a winning strategy of rushing to the forest, grabbing a rose, and doing very little hunting until you were mostly back to safety. I could also see a strategy of just hanging out in the village area the whole game so you didn't risk not making it back...All it all, it seems like a very interesting game that would take playing it through a few times to get a feel for what is "doable" and what is "pushing it too far."
    Thanks to Rahdo for the play through - always appreciated.

    25:46 Something I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do before: you marked with your finger where you picked up a piece from so you’d remember where to put it back! :)
    I cringe every single time you move something to show an example since most of your goofs come from forgetting to put things back or putting them in the wrong spot. (I soooooo wish you would just point instead of moving things around!) :)
