    I really appreciate this video.
    My main was the Carrott,(Until I Lost it early last year;}, and I've been running that Makro since
    but now I have the Tek-Point shipping to me so I'll very likely run that as main for a Good spell to see how I like it.
    Again, Good vid, I really like that you put stats up on left of screen to reference too...Subbed!
    (I kinda wonder if , to be fair, albeit one would hope these stands up over time in general,
    but the brand new unit vs older units may play some part in head-head review)?...

      Thanks for the sub Dirk. I appreciate that. Going back to my reviews of the Garrett and Makro when they were new...they didn't lose any depth. These new PI pointers will be the new top dogs after a years time in my opinion. Longevity is not something anybody can answer just yet of course...but they are built well and hopefully last well past the 2 year warranty.

    Also a T2 user here, and both my Carrot, and TRX will interfere if my coil is too close. Drives me nuts some days. My G2 has the same issue with the Carrot, but not the TRX. Carrot started falseing after about 4 months, TRX will only false with the 9 volt, but is fine with 2 aa battery option. Keep us posted on the Teknetics, Thanks for the videos...

    the only 1 i could hear was the garrett vibrating in the table. it looks like i am gonna have to keep finding visually for another year. 125 bucks is way more than my tracker 4 ans half the cost of my LRP>

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Pƙed 6 lety +4

      I had the other two in "audio only" mode...Garrett always has the vibrate on with no way to turn it off. When in vibrate mode you will be able to feel all 3 very easily. In my opinion a pin-pointer is a must-have. Target retrieval is double or tripled in most cases.

  • @MetalDetecting24
    @MetalDetecting24 Pƙed 6 lety +5

    Hello TheHunterGT, thank you for this great comparison.
    I had the orange pin pointer from your table, but it was only a short "relationship". I hunt with the black, non-waterproof version at the moment (because I can switch it off with one short press of a button). I know that the OFF switch has to be held on the Teknetics too, but this is another topic...
    Because of my setting and my hunting style, I often have to deal with small targets. Some of them are real tiny. You are showing coins in your comparison, but how does the Teknetics perform on tiny stuff, like a thin piece of foil, or a (lead) pellet (maybe even something smaller). These are usually the targets that are slowing people down, making the recovery tough (at least in my case).
    With the Garrett I sometimes have to touch the tip of the PP to get a response (now with my tip almost worn out, it makes the PP a little bit more sensitive but still). Sometimes the tip doesn't react at all, but the part slightly below does...
    My questions:
    Would it be possible for you to show a comparison with real tiny objects? Maybe a very thin piece of a copper wire, pieces of foil (scrambled or not), lead (the size of a pellet) etc. It would be very interesting to see, how the Teknetics reacts to something the Garrett just barely picks up.
    I also have a problem with a (what I would consider as very) slow recovery speed of my current PP (no one seems to notice it, but it's a big issue for me).
    When you touch the tip with (let's say) a quarter (for 1 sec) and pull the coin (or any other object) very fast away, the PP needs quite some time to stop beeping... This becomes a problem, if you have a fast recovery technique. How does the Teknetics handle this? Would it be possible for you to compare this aspect to your pulse PP?
    My last question. I have another issue, when I'm in front of a "bigger" target (like a .50 cal bullet case for example). When I pull the Garrett out, press the ON switch (while my hand is moving towards the target) and it activates "on the way" (before I even touch the object), it often jams.
    I mean, the PP is ON, but there is no reaction. Does a metal object have influence on the Teknetics PP during the "boot up" procedure?
    Sorry for my (probably unusual) questions. I would appreciate it if you could help and give me some answers.
    Have a great day & Happy Hunting,
    MD24

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      Hello MD24, great post full of some great questions. I will absolutely put up a video showing some very small objects being tested. It will sound of on a pellet (BB) and smaller no problem. I will cut small snips of a paper clip or wire to see just how small we can get. Maybe even compare it to the other two.
      The recovery speed is instant. There is no delay either way...towards or away from the pointer. I just tested after reading your post as I was quite interested to see. I had never really paid attention to that to be honest. I will show that in the video as well when I do the small objects video.
      This one will need to be turned on away from a target like most PP's. It will tune to that object during boot up and then cancel it out. Like a ground balance so to speak. My Makro and Garrett do it as well.
      Hope that helps! Happy Hunting...I enjoy your channel!

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24 Pƙed 6 lety

      Thank you very much for the response. I'm looking forward to your video :).
      One more thing about the "cancellation" of the object. In this case I don't have the feeling like it's intended (at least not to this extend). When my PP is crossing a certain distance to a metal object (during the boot up process), it just jams. It's not even close. I could understand if the sensitivity would just decrease, like it "sometimes" does, but it jams completely in the worst case scenario (you can touch the object afterwards without any response).
      I had one more issue with the orange PP. When I pressed the "OFF" switch and moved my hand towards the sheath, the turn OFF process got interrupted as soon as it came close to my knife (and started beeping, shortly before it went into the menu mode...).
      It was very annoying. I had to turn it off at a "safe distance", wait and place it into the sheath (which pretty much disturbed my flow every time).
      The black version doesn't have this problem, because it can be turned off very quickly. I was also considering buying the XP pointer, but for some reason someone decided to place the ON/OFF switch on the "wrong" side (for left-handed persons).
      Thank you once again! Have a great day.

    Solid and much needed pinpointer comparison video. I dont want to say anything discouraging because pin pointer videos are needed, but you could have done a sideways test as well. The vibrate is in between the Makro (weakest) and Garrett (strongest). You can absolutely feel it with gloves on. With the speaker being in the back (like the Makro) it is louder that what the video shows. Although the Garrett is the loudest of the bunch...it needs to be with the speaker being on the side. Good quality pp's are so expensive for these little guys, the price almost 50%-60% of getting a metal detector like the N/M Simplex, crazy. Im finding that you get what you pay for with these must have tools. Don't fall for the Garrett Pro knockoffs on Ebay for $35 you will regret it. I'm curious to see you do a Garret Carrot knockoff Demo with the Original Garret Carrot. Thats one to try, I'm sure you would get alot of response and views for that one.

      It's in excellent new condition and super,super surprised it went this low. I was ready to hunker down $425 max for the....ready? Whites MX7 yup. I'm gonna video this package getting delivered and unbox this bad boy. Anyways keep up the work HGT!!

    Is there a pin pointer that's decent for around $50 ? I'm starting to think the only money to be had in metal detecting is in fleecing the people buying the equipment. It's like the line in Don Quixote," people go out to buy wool only to come back shorn"

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Pƙed 6 lety

      Shane K The cheapest piece of crap pinpointer I've seen is from harbor freight tools and on sale right now for $16.99. If your starting out in metal detecting, yes this thing will get you by. Just plan on warranting it every couple months as the power button fails on every one of them. I've got 1 of the black Garrett pro pointer and 2 of the Garrett at pro pointers, as my daughter and I like going detecting. Truthfully, they are worth every cent! Garrett warrantied the black one free of charge even though it was a good year and a half past its warranty period. Garrett got a customer for life just because of that!We have two Garrett At Pros, One At Gold, one Garrett Infinium, and a Fisher Gold Bug 2. My opinion, You get exactly what you pay for.
