Nobody reads this far down...what are you doing down here?
Thank You ! I got the Teknetics Pointer not knowing how good it was .Got it new w/ Euro Pro Detector + sold the detector for the same price I paid for both . Great deal !! Great Review !!!
Trying to cycle through the Garrett settings is way to confusing
I like to metal detect on the side, and my cheap $35 Pinpointer was a huge disappointment, so I bought a Teknetics Tek-Point Pinpointer to replace it. Thanks for confirming my choice.
My pleasure. It is definitely have one of the best on the market.
How much is a good device please?
Good job on the Demo! One thing is for sure, they make finding your target a whole lot easier.
Outlaw jjSmith Absolutely. Double or triple your recovery time of the target means more targets dug during the day. A no brainer.
Got the Tek-Point with my Teknetics T2+ & it is SWEET.
I really appreciate this video.
My main was the Carrott,(Until I Lost it early last year;}, and I've been running that Makro since
but now I have the Tek-Point shipping to me so I'll very likely run that as main for a Good spell to see how I like it.
Again, Good vid, I really like that you put stats up on left of screen to reference too...Subbed!
(I kinda wonder if , to be fair, albeit one would hope these stands up over time in general,
but the brand new unit vs older units may play some part in head-head review)?...
Thanks for the sub Dirk. I appreciate that. Going back to my reviews of the Garrett and Makro when they were new...they didn't lose any depth. These new PI pointers will be the new top dogs after a years time in my opinion. Longevity is not something anybody can answer just yet of course...but they are built well and hopefully last well past the 2 year warranty.
Also a T2 user here, and both my Carrot, and TRX will interfere if my coil is too close. Drives me nuts some days. My G2 has the same issue with the Carrot, but not the TRX. Carrot started falseing after about 4 months, TRX will only false with the 9 volt, but is fine with 2 aa battery option. Keep us posted on the Teknetics, Thanks for the videos...
Hopefully these can make it through a few years without issue. So far they seem built like a tank. I knew right away they would be replacing the other 2 shown.
Hunter GT you're the best
Right back at ya Joe!
Super ! Thank you. I've an makro ! And I apriciate.
Have you ever tried to see which pin pointer had the brightest light in the dark?
Nice review the Teknetics is getting more tempting.
I have not. But that is an interesting idea. Tek-Point is still my go to pointer to this day.
I have the fisher f-pulse, basically the same thing. Runs on AA's as well which I like a lot more. Great pointer. On max sensitivity it CAN false when you get wet soil though. Most of them will but being ultra sensitive, you may have to turn it down a bit on those days.
Thank you
Great comparison. Thanks Hunter!
My pleasure Tony...thanks for watching!
the only 1 i could hear was the garrett vibrating in the table. it looks like i am gonna have to keep finding visually for another year. 125 bucks is way more than my tracker 4 ans half the cost of my LRP>
I had the other two in "audio only" mode...Garrett always has the vibrate on with no way to turn it off. When in vibrate mode you will be able to feel all 3 very easily. In my opinion a pin-pointer is a must-have. Target retrieval is double or tripled in most cases.
Great video Hunter, I just bought a NEL Sharpshooter coil. I will be getting the Tek Pointer when i find enough clad . Thanks for the demo. GL&HH
Thanks Wayne! It's my pleasure. Appreciate you watching. GL and HH my friend.
Tek point wins hands down! Have found many relics with it. I use the T2 SE also
Good combo. Garrett products do not do it for me. First Texas MD's kicks their butts over the hedge and into the ditch, in my opinion.
Awesome video as always Hunter. Loved it
Logan's Channel Thanks Logan. Glad you enjoyed man.
Thank I know what to get now Iâm. Buying a pin pointer
Hello TheHunterGT, thank you for this great comparison.
I had the orange pin pointer from your table, but it was only a short "relationship". I hunt with the black, non-waterproof version at the moment (because I can switch it off with one short press of a button). I know that the OFF switch has to be held on the Teknetics too, but this is another topic...
Because of my setting and my hunting style, I often have to deal with small targets. Some of them are real tiny. You are showing coins in your comparison, but how does the Teknetics perform on tiny stuff, like a thin piece of foil, or a (lead) pellet (maybe even something smaller). These are usually the targets that are slowing people down, making the recovery tough (at least in my case).
With the Garrett I sometimes have to touch the tip of the PP to get a response (now with my tip almost worn out, it makes the PP a little bit more sensitive but still). Sometimes the tip doesn't react at all, but the part slightly below does...
My questions:
Would it be possible for you to show a comparison with real tiny objects? Maybe a very thin piece of a copper wire, pieces of foil (scrambled or not), lead (the size of a pellet) etc. It would be very interesting to see, how the Teknetics reacts to something the Garrett just barely picks up.
I also have a problem with a (what I would consider as very) slow recovery speed of my current PP (no one seems to notice it, but it's a big issue for me).
When you touch the tip with (let's say) a quarter (for 1 sec) and pull the coin (or any other object) very fast away, the PP needs quite some time to stop beeping... This becomes a problem, if you have a fast recovery technique. How does the Teknetics handle this? Would it be possible for you to compare this aspect to your pulse PP?
My last question. I have another issue, when I'm in front of a "bigger" target (like a .50 cal bullet case for example). When I pull the Garrett out, press the ON switch (while my hand is moving towards the target) and it activates "on the way" (before I even touch the object), it often jams.
I mean, the PP is ON, but there is no reaction. Does a metal object have influence on the Teknetics PP during the "boot up" procedure?
Sorry for my (probably unusual) questions. I would appreciate it if you could help and give me some answers.
Have a great day & Happy Hunting,
MD24
Hello MD24, great post full of some great questions. I will absolutely put up a video showing some very small objects being tested. It will sound of on a pellet (BB) and smaller no problem. I will cut small snips of a paper clip or wire to see just how small we can get. Maybe even compare it to the other two.
The recovery speed is instant. There is no delay either way...towards or away from the pointer. I just tested after reading your post as I was quite interested to see. I had never really paid attention to that to be honest. I will show that in the video as well when I do the small objects video.
This one will need to be turned on away from a target like most PP's. It will tune to that object during boot up and then cancel it out. Like a ground balance so to speak. My Makro and Garrett do it as well.
Hope that helps! Happy Hunting...I enjoy your channel!
Thank you very much for the response. I'm looking forward to your video :).
One more thing about the "cancellation" of the object. In this case I don't have the feeling like it's intended (at least not to this extend). When my PP is crossing a certain distance to a metal object (during the boot up process), it just jams. It's not even close. I could understand if the sensitivity would just decrease, like it "sometimes" does, but it jams completely in the worst case scenario (you can touch the object afterwards without any response).
I had one more issue with the orange PP. When I pressed the "OFF" switch and moved my hand towards the sheath, the turn OFF process got interrupted as soon as it came close to my knife (and started beeping, shortly before it went into the menu mode...).
It was very annoying. I had to turn it off at a "safe distance", wait and place it into the sheath (which pretty much disturbed my flow every time).
The black version doesn't have this problem, because it can be turned off very quickly. I was also considering buying the XP pointer, but for some reason someone decided to place the ON/OFF switch on the "wrong" side (for left-handed persons).
Thank you once again! Have a great day.
I would have loved to see this video actually compartir equals. The Garrett and the other one that lost are already a year old with use being compared to on straight out the box.
I have never heard of a metal detector losing depth as time goes on. So not quite sure of the point you are trying to make. The Garret and Makro performed as well as they did on day one.
Solid and much needed pinpointer comparison video. I dont want to say anything discouraging because pin pointer videos are needed, but you could have done a sideways test as well. I love Teknetics and im not surprised they are the overall winner but unless im mistaken you failed to mention that the garret is the only waterproof pointer of the three tested.
Illusive. All 3 are waterproof. I did fail to mention that here...but mentioned it in the reviews I did for each.
TheHunterGT i stand corrected, sweet. guess I'll be picking up a new pin pointer this summer =)
Thanks for the video's and your time. Always great info. Time to get rid of the garrett a new pin pointer is in town
These will absolutely be replacing our old ones. Thanks for watching!
Best pinpointer in my opinion is the Makro Pulsdive. Not cheap but definitely worth it
I do not disagree. It is currently my favorite as well.
I hate the Pulsedive. Itâs got to be the hardest pinpointer to turn On/Off. The button design is terrible and itâs big and bulky.
Great review, Hunter. I have two at the moment. I have a black Garrett and a Garrett carrot. They are both usable. I might buy one of these when I lose one of mine but right now wife won't let me buy any more equipment. LOL Thanks for sharing.
My wife is the CFO as well...nothing gets bought without permission. đ
Could you sell me one of your devices please? How deep does he find treasures or a cash cat?
Thanks for the video. Based on your tests I'm going to buy the Teknetics.
My pleasure Bob! You are buying one great pointer. Best of luck with it.
Thanks. Bought one today. Best wishes from the Isle of Wight.
Looks good. Didn't they say they made it out of tougher plastic too?
Yes they did...abrasion resistant and such.
Being from the 80's and I am sure other old goats like me, we can't complain about any pinpointers, Oh the time we wasted back in those days
Thanks for the test
I wouldn't want to go without. The only time I went without was prospecting, and that was a pain in the booty.
It looks like the tec point and the fisher f pulse are basically the same pin pointer, just different colors.
Correct.
Teknetics rocks!
We need to see all of them after a year of use.
Will they break?
Garrett has established position ... everybody uses them.
Great showdown!
That is an important question. Longevity past the 2 year warranty. Both of my Garrett and the Makro are falsing before warranty end. I am hopeful this well built Tek-Point holds strong.
I would love to see PI vs PI
Yes, I would like to see a comparison between the Tek-Point/F-Pulse vs. the Gold Digger Land or Sea. Many people wrote the Gold Digger off early, but for those that have used it, it has turned out to be quite a good piece of equipment.
Great review i have 2 makro pointers and a carrot all getting old . So looking for an alternative ???? The Teknetics looks a sturdy pointer . Our Garrett had to be modified as my son is rough with pointers . it went through at the end . SO glued a bottle top on the end .
While I do like the Makro and the Carrot...they are no match for this Tek-point. Easily the best PP I have ever used.
Just got the Makro for Chrismas, im verry happy with it so far. Do miss the button being on the handel tho. Great review
The buttons on the Makro don't bother me. Placement work ok for me personally. It is the false on level 4 and the 6 beeps when powering off that gripes me. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Hunter, this is the vid I've been waiting for. So far my carrot is doing good only falsing occasionally. I can see the Fisher model in my collection soon. HH
Yeah, hers will only false occasionally too. My Makro will false much more on 4...but never on 3. Not sure why they let so many out the factory like that.
I like my Makro and Nokta pinpointers, well built with no issues for almost 6 years.
The Teknetics looks like a nice new improved pinpointer have to see how it holds up.
Iluvbig Knockers Good to hear you have had no issues with your Makro. I sure don't wish them upon anybody. It's more of a annoyance for me since it does work ok on sensitivity 3.
How much depth pls
Cool video and very informative new subscriber happy dirt fishing..Virgil
I guess I will have one. Thanks hunter
My pleasure James!
TheHunterGT now I have to talk the wife into it đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Great video, my Garrett carrot has finally given up after 6 years! Been a good run with it, now the decision to buy a new one. Another Carrot or try the Teknics? It seems like it has good depth, even heard the xp deus mi-4 is the new favourite
Good review hunter..
Thanks!
Nice review
Thanks Patrick!
Tx a lot
Maybe the weak audio on the TekPoint is the reason for the delay. Hopefully that will be corrected. My Pistol Probe is deeper than all of these as is my Whites TRX.
Audio is ok...can hear it through headphones. Speaker is on the back so sounds quieter during the video being pointed away from the camera. The delay had nothing to do with that.
great performance. man that weak audio and weak vibrate still concern me though. guess i'll find out first hand soon.
The vibrate is in between the Makro (weakest) and Garrett (strongest). You can absolutely feel it with gloves on. With the speaker being in the back (like the Makro) it is louder that what the video shows. Although the Garrett is the loudest of the bunch...it needs to be with the speaker being on the side. As long as it does not beep 6 times when turning off...I'm happy!
true, makro performs well but the beeps on off and button placement are head scratchers
Hi,have either of you used the mars pointer, thats the real test.having used all three, the mars never falses,.But being all my mds come from first texas,i will get the tek point once mine fails. thanks for sharing. hh gl everyone.
No I sure haven't Sean. I was unaware they even made one to be honest. I know they make coils and a shaft...but no idea they made a PP.
great comparisons, its funny i was shopping for PP's last night and bought the Teknetics last night. Good quality pp's are so expensive for these little guys, the price almost 50%-60% of getting a metal detector like the N/M Simplex, crazy. Im finding that you get what you pay for with these must have tools. Don't fall for the Garrett Pro knockoffs on Ebay for $35 you will regret it. I'm curious to see you do a Garret Carrot knockoff Demo with the Original Garret Carrot. Thats one to try, I'm sure you would get alot of response and views for that one.
Yeah anything with the Garret name gets good views...but makes me feel dirty lol. I did do a review of the GP pointer which is a carrot clone...but not a comparison as I no longer have the carrot.
@@thehuntergt once you go dirty there's a good chance you may stay dirty because of how cheap they are. But if you've been in this hobby long enough you know that the cheapies will just frustrate a newbie or a veteran swinger and waste all kinds of time. BTW, I got a nice toy arriving today from eBay $320 tax and shipping ($280 was the auction win.)
It's in excellent new condition and super, super surprised it went this low. I was ready to hunker down $425 max for the....ready? Whites MX7 yup. I'm gonna video this package getting delivered and unbox this bad boy. Anyways keep up the work HGT!!
I like the one you tested at last, but how can I get one?
I'd like to see comparison on a small Gold Nugget in the Rock crevice. The Orange Carrot reads it, but you have to be very close to the gold.. Like 1/4 of an inch or less. Amy PP that would read gold it better?
I no longer have the Garrett or Makro sorry....and never got the time to test them on tiny stuff.
Another great video! Had no idea the Teknetics was a PI, seems to be very underrated. Going to have to give that one a shot next time I'm in the field
Thank you! It will gain steam once people have it in their hands and reports of how good it is start to trickle in. Very good PP.
I use a Garrett Pro Pointer AT and a Minelab Pro-Find 25
Might want to upgrade to one of these someday. đ
Cool!
I think so! :)
I just got a Garrett Carrot, but it seems to me that the Teknetics is better :(
Which of the three helps in hunting gold nuggets?
All 3 will hit nuggets easily. For the smallest of pickers...go with the F-Pulse.
My Garrett gave false readings right out of the box
So did my Makro pointer. Not a good feeling.
grazie mille delle prove
I guess I'll have to stop buying snow cones , save my clad and get me a Teknetics
pin-pointer !
Thanks HunterGT !
My pleasure Bob. Snow cones are pretty delicious...but this Tek-Point is even tastier!
teknetics vs mi6 xp ? who is better ?
Are the Makro and teknetics waterproof? I know you don't do much water hunting if any at all but a lot of us do. That's why I bought the Garrett atpro instead of the teknetics T2.
Yes...all 3 of them here are waterproof.
TheHunterGT awesome! Thanks for the info! Definitely getting the teknetics!
I'm on my 3rd Garrett 1st was stolen the 2nd leaked and killed the sound the third one was the charm it work great no either.
I thought that they were supposed to start shipping on the 22nd. Doesn't look like that is the case. Do you know when they will be available?
Sandy Hirsch From what I understand they are going out this week starting the 22nd. Dealers and pre orders are fufilled first.
Can you show one of the $17 ebay clones performance?
I have already done so. Check my GP Pointer review.
I just purchased the TEK-POINT, I wanted to get it from your site but I didn't know to sign in.
setwave It's all good as long as you have one! Enjoy it!
How does it compare to the other pulse pinpoints?
Not sure, as I don't have any of them in my possession. Some are close to $200...while others are like $75 and I am skeptical if they truly are PI's.
TheHunterGT i use the deteknix xpointer wader. Ive tested it against a carrot its comparable. Thanks for the reply great video! Cheers
Hey hunt, what the pro pointer 2, does it have the various settings of the Garret carrott? Ty.
I am not sure to be honest. I want to say the Garrett PP 2 is fairly identical but without the waterproofing.
TheHunterGT yeah I tried it it just has one setting. Aqua chigger showed a neat trick on ground balancing it. Works pretty good.
Is there a pin pointer that's decent for around $50 ? I'm starting to think the only money to be had in metal detecting is in fleecing the people buying the equipment. It's like the line in Don Quixote," people go out to buy wool only to come back shorn"
I've never seen a $50 I would buy. In my opinion $120-130 is well worth it for doubling or tripling target recovery time. They pay for themselves pretty quickly.
There is a gp pointer with not bad reviews on ebay for under 50
It also has some horror stories in forums and such. It is a literal knock off of a Garrett (version 1) from a Chinese company. On principle alone I won't buy it.
TheHunterGT I don't own one but if that is all they can afford It looks to be the best option in that price range
Shane K The cheapest piece of crap pinpointer I've seen is from harbor freight tools and on sale right now for $16.99. If your starting out in metal detecting, yes this thing will get you by. Just plan on warranting it every couple months as the power button fails on every one of them. I've got 1 of the black Garrett pro pointer and 2 of the Garrett at pro pointers, as my daughter and I like going detecting. Truthfully, they are worth every cent! Garrett warrantied the black one free of charge even though it was a good year and a half past its warranty period. Garrett got a customer for life just because of that!We have two Garrett At Pros, One At Gold, one Garrett Infinium, and a Fisher Gold Bug 2. My opinion, You get exactly what you pay for.
Anyone know of a pinpointer that takes 18650 batteries ? Maybe its about time someone makes one.
Sign me up.
@@thehuntergt I know . It sucks because I have a couple hundred of the 18650 batteries just laying around for projects.
đđ» đźđł || Kuki
Have you used your TEK-POINT for the past year? If so how is it holding up? Has it started falsing?
Hi Lin. No falsing on the ones I have...they are 3rd gen firmware versions. I use them off camera from time to time still.
@@thehuntergt Which brand do you recommend or personally use the most?
Thanks!
Hi Was the Garrett on the most sensitive setting ?
Yes
It is possible to purchase the device and arrive in Syria
I am not aware of any dealer that ships to Syria from the USA sorry.
Anything beetle Tek Point since this video?
No new releases since this video.

got a pinpointer for 25 bucks...working perfect for over 2 years now....pay pay 100 bucks more for a name?
Warranty that works - build quality - performance - waterproofing - brand loyalty...I can probably come up with a few more. To each their own of course. I'll gladly pay $120 for an F-Pulse over a $25-50 (insert Chinese brand).
i bet you need a $150 shovel just like Aquachigger uses too?
@@markrush5013 Like I said...to each their own. Go use your $25 toy and be happy. You seem more concerned with what other people use.
@@markrush5013 Really? ...why the snarky response Mark? To each his own.
Tec point is still working after 5 years, yes it does false but have to turn on went touching soil as per manual state and always keep manual with you as so many settings that would even confuse a top chess player without it đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
No entiendo nada.
Lo siento, no digo nada de español.
You mentioned "false" several times but you didn't explain what that is.
A false signal is when the detector beeps for no reason.
Oh, Ok. Thanks very much for letting me know. I am new to detecting and just learning the terms.
Always here to help. Ever need anything just ask!
but garret sound loudest
man should see my still working but beat to heck Garrett carrot stick all u need..

America! :P
Wish I knew what 2 and 15 16th means. My grandad would have known god rest his soul
It is basically fractions...like in math. Inches are broken into 16 parts. 16/16 being a full inch....8/16 reduced down to a half inch....4/16 reduced down to a quarter inch. 15/16 would be just shy of an inch....by 1 of those 16 parts. Hope that helps.
