Its completely fine to use a classical music and use it to portray your own message. We really shouldnt be saying "butchered" as if its completely ruined. It gave us new insight with a new perspective. this didnt take away the masterpiece of paganinis, in fact it expanded on it.

It's because none of these girls had actual talent (maybe except for Lisa). They sell looks and models. They are different from other YG groups such as Winner or even their junior Treasure that have an actual musician in the group (in Winner's case, 4 of the members are capable of song writing and composing).
This cause BP's music quality Inconsistent and show a lack of soul even though the songs were intended for them.
@@morasiregar1052 I disagree, girls are talented. Lisa is just an amazing dancer though she can't sing live. Jennie is a talented live performer. Rose and Jisoo are good singers. They usually just 'sell their looks' because it's what YG wants from the group. YG doesn't give them good songs, so they can't show their talents.
@@myelin3062 The reason that they can't really expand their music level is that none of them actually know a thing about songwriting. And when you're a group of idols that are selling songs, at least 1-2 people in the group know how to do it. Teddy is also not really that great of a song producer, he's just well-known due to how long he's been in the industry and his relation to big names.
They are not the worst group out there. I'd say that they are good performers. By actual talent, I mean their determination to strive. The part about YG... I can't say much. He didn't protect 2NE1 back then when they need him the most and I know he's not the best head agency in the industry.

As a Korean, I will tell you one thing that is clear. Teddy has already received a lot of criticism from the K-pop scene since 12 years ago for his low composing skills and style that followed mannerisms. It is speculated that Paganini's work was ruined in this way because he did not specifically intend to offend the classics, but purely because of his poor musical ability. It's been a long time since I stopped paying attention to K-pop, but it's surprising and embarrassing to know that such a Teddy is still active as a K-pop producer.
Teddy must step out. While he’s there, blackpink music will always be boring. I still actually yet to hear a nice BP song while their voices are so good.

Ed- I mean, Paganini's complaint at 3:37 about it being an unfinished sentence was EXACTLY what struck me right from the very beginning of the song, when I first listened to it.
I *love* BLACKPINK, they're far and away my favourite K-pop group, but this song totally missed the mark for me. That unfinished phrase jars me _every single time_ it happens. Listening to _Shut Down_ is a seriously uncomfortable experience, and it took me THREE tries to finish it all the way through.

Some BP fans got offended because:
1. They didn't know that Shut Down was a La Campanella sample from start to finish (BP can do no wrong, so of course they only sing 100% original songs 😂)
2. They thought Eddy WAS actually Paganini since they didn't know who Paganini was
3. They thought Eddy as Paganini was mocking and stealing BP's original music AHAHAHA (Sorry, I couldn't say that last one without bursting out laughing 😂)
