    MG is a rather niche brand, with just two vehicles on sale in the UK, the MG6 and the MG3.
    Marketed as a stylish, affordable supermini, the MG3 competes against the likes of the DS 3 as well as the Dacia Sandero.
    We got our hands on an MG3 to see what it’s all about.
    Constantly updated, Car Keys provides first-hand video reviews, as well as all of the latest car news.

    I rather like this MG3. It's a nice little run about. I don't know what the fuss is all about. Jaguar is owned by the Indian company Tata Motors since 2008 and i don't see people making a big deal about it.

    Honestly just if you're going to worry about the sound of the clicks on the steeeing wheel controls..!!! I've just bought one of these and it's an excellent car - steering & handling are superb for this price of car and it's really enjoyable to drive. I don't have a problem with the engine either - it likes to be revved and it's a sporty car at a bargain price. Try it you'll be very surprised!

    I do like the MG3. I love the simple, well laid out interior which seems very well proportioned, thought through well and easy to use. There isn't one angle that I don't like inside or out when I have viewed the car in the flesh. Yes the interior quality is no match for most of its rivals however, it's so much cheaper than most of its competition and although the plastics used are hard they do seem durable. It would be interesting to find out some detailed information on reliability / issues etc. I can find some information online but not much. Maybe that's because there aren't many problems? I also like an engine that you need to rev, it makes the drive more fun and interesting for me. I'm very much a fan of naturally aspirated engines rather than turbo's, unless they are set up really well, as in my experience, there always seems to be some lag before the punch of acceleration which i find annoying.

    I have the3 facelift version, and don't see an issue with the engine. It isn't fast, but it isn't slow, it isn't great on fuel, but it isn't poor either. Well worth the money

    If I only had £9 to £11 thousand to spend on a new car then I'd buy the MG3 NO QUESTION.

      Just buy it on 0% finance.The price is exactly the same as if you buy it as a lump sum.Just paying it over 5 years.Its a no brainer.

    Saying about engine refinement, the MG ZR which you should review have a Kseries engine model and they have headgasket issues and overheating problems when not looked after, the N series engine in the MG3 is a k series with all the issues fixed I wish I had that engine in my ZR as its got the same power, lower emmisons and better MPG. Knowing the history behind a car especially one such as the MG brand is key to being able to review the car well. Btw the kseries engines love to be revved to their 7200-7000 rpm limit and make peak torque at 4500 and there really fun!

    The car looks (in my humble opinion) much better than anything else out there. Fiesta = yawn, polo = boring. Vauxhall corsa = ugly. Shame about the engine, I just wished they had put a small turbo in the car, peak torque at 5000rpm = gutless if driven normally and it'll feel like a 1.0 NA unless you rev it. Fuel consumption as a result will be terrible because you'd need a boot full to pick up quickly to join motorway traffic.

    it looks great but like you say needs a more uptodate engine less co2 and a bit more power and possibly a quick diesel oh and up the aunty on the fixtures and fittings .

      @sparkymart09 Před 8 lety +3

      +Graham Reid (Grizzle) Superminis don't need a diesel, The new model has less Co2 then this current one. I do agree it needs a faster engine though. & a 6 speed box.

    You may have released the review a week or so early , they're releasing an updated version next week according to their latest press release with lower emmisions and better technology mg.co.uk/media-centre/press-releases/a-great-car-made-better/

      +Ryan Porter Hi Ryan. Often a manufacturer will delay giving us a car if there is an update coming. However, on this occasion we received the car, reviewed it, and then were informed a week or so later that there was an update due.

      Seems like a bit of poor planning on MG's part in that case , could have worked in their favour if they had. Very good review and camera work as always anyway. Keep up the good work :)

      +SuperMartini123 really? i think its great to see a simple design that does what it needs to and nothing more. Simple controls are whats missing from many superminis. Think people are expecting too much from a budget price.

    • @RandomTelenovelas
      @RandomTelenovelas Před 8 lety

      sparkymart Sparky I guess you're right. Maybe due to the fact that it's a brand that's making a "comeback" (MG), people tend to have higher expectations.

    not a good looking car is it , in fact it's ugly as fuck , what's happened to the great looks of the mg sports car , oh yeh I remember now , the Chinese reinvented it and made it ugly , where's the low slung mgb or midget update , these look like them ugly Suzuki swift with an mg badge stuck on , no character , no flowing lines , no Street cred , no soft top , come on mg design an updated mgb or midget , revive it like the mini or vw bug or fiat 500 , these are just so ugly

    • @hess6wi
      @hess6wi Před 7 lety +1

      MG have plans as I understand it to release a new roadster by 2020, as this will clearly be really important to the brand, they are taking the time to get production quality right before trying to break into a luxury market even if it would be at the affordable end. When it comes out expect a 2.0 litre turbo petrol job that, judging by the concepts will look like a cross between the MGF and an F-type Jag.
      As for this car, it is a supermini not a sports car. You can't expect it to look like a MGA. As it goes I think this the Clio and the DS3 are the best looking cars in this class. Shame it doesn't have better fuel economy otherwise I'd probably buy one.
