There's a great lesson to be learned from him. Always go 100%. You hear why his acting is so wooden; the director is incompetent, the production is shoddy, and he's getting dicked around, and so he's phoning it in. And you hear his story and it's totally understandable. But all that matters is what ends up on film, and people saw that and just thought he was a bad actor. Rise above the situation and be the best part of a bad effort.

And his our evil corporate villian. And Tommy wiseau plays an old wizard who tells Neil breen of the dangers on earth.
Those would be the real expendables as in they don't worth a spit.

I just lost my mind. I have heard of this film. My friend, Gerald Okamura, is in it. But when I recognized one of the interior locations as Grandmaster Eric Lee's home where I shot my first feature with both he and Gerald, I realized how small the martial arts world in movies really is.

@Michael Some studios keep 70s camera equipment as backup. Some studios still even have 30's cameras and lenses. Just in case Tarantino, JJ abrams and peter jackson show up. Or a director wants the classic look

I don't know why it took me so long to find this... what a normal, decent guy.
This guy is such a boss. It's great to hear these stories, and he seems much more like an intelligent, likeable guy than.. certain previous guests. I'm amazed at all the details he remembers, and just how much stupidity actors will try to work with for a chance. When you see an actor pull off such a stupid role you generally think they're just bad actors, completely on board with the movie, but this guy is really cool.
I'm just... kind of scared of his eyes. They are so.. piercing.
The details are probably fresh in his mind from his interviews for the blu-ray. but i do agree, to bad we have to wait for part 2.

I love this guy. He doesn’t take himself seriously and is completely in on the joke that the movie was terrible.

Nothing is bad, the film was supposed to be like that since they did all those in one take/real time so just like how the movie is like 3 hours, they shot the movie for 3 hours as well. The film wasn't supposed to be taken seriously

It's really amazing how Matt Hannon recalls so many of the details and locations.
I am 100% convinced that Matt could have done pretty well if the material had been better. He comes off as a really cool, charismatic guy here.

Holy shit guys. This video was so cathartic. So many questions answered. I wasn't ready for this level of satisfaction.
Wow, what an interview. Matt Hannon is very different from the way I assumed he might be like. He's super articulate, witty and really has it together, and he seems like a really NORMAL person who would be fun to hang out with. After hearing his thoughts on doing *Samurai Cop* it's clear he's been a really underrated actor then and now. I'm glad this movie has had a resurgence because it's obvious there have been some great actors over the years that, for some strange reason, their careers just never seemed to blossom the way you'd think they should have. I'm just sorry we didn't get to see more of this cool guy on the big screen over the past 25 years but it's great seeing him here and this interview is the best ever because it really illustrates just how cool Matt Hannon truly is.

Wasn't the fun of Samurai Cop 1 the fact that is was meant to be a proper film but became a hilarious mess? Either the sequel will be intentionally be bad to attempt to be funny (which almost always fails), or it'll be a straight, well-produced film (which is not the reason people like the original).
True But I still want to see what they do with 2
***** Oh, well that's fucking great. I hope the thing they understand with making this film is they should be as ambitious as they possibly can be while working with a small budget. That's the source of what makes a good-bad movie, they reach for the stars, take themselves seriously and fail hilariously.

@@1981bevo I mean from what Matt says, the experience wasn't all that great. It seems that quite early on it was a nightmare to shoot the movie. So I feel bad for him because the man wanted to hide himself because of this movie, which subsequently killed off any chance of becoming a superstar. We'll never know what would have been had he not played the lead role here, but this film was not a good advertisement for him.

The part I like the most about his acting was his dead eyes and how bothered he looks on delivering the lines. Amazing knowing how everything came out to be like that.

Matt reminds me of Bruce Campbell in the sense that he admits things that a normal A-list actor wouldn't admit. Matt admitting that horrible ad-lib was like Campbell admitting his horrible ad-lib in the original Evil Dead. An A-list actor might try to sweep it under the rug. B-movie actors seem to be a lot more relaxed when talking about their films...of course I've only heard from two...
