markj6700 have you actually read the constitution? It says “CONGRESS shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof....”
The Federal government can not make a law respecting an establishment of religion or its free exercise.
This was a limit on the federal government, not on STATE government.
      Keep reading:
“The powers not delegated to the United States(Federal Government)by the Constitution,
nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Study your history. Shortly after the constitution was signed and for a long time after, different states had laws that said things like, “if you were not a Christian you could not hold a state public office.”
Some said if you were not a protestant you could not hold a state office.
None of these states were sued, the federal government didn’t say, HEY, you can’t do that it’s against the constitution!”
No, they left them alone because there is no such law as separation of church and state. The constitution only bars the federal government from making laws establishing religion.
The constitution protects our right to religion not from it.

It's an honest mistake that happens to everybody.
You're not saying you never make errors like that are you? Because I have a hard time believing you seriously didn't catch that.
Or could it be that you are simply trying to be a smart ally.
Hu? "Under for fire for" what could they possibly mean? Humm???
Oh! But that's not right. It should say "Under fire for" not "Under for fire for".
I better wright a comment, and let them know. Not everybody is smart enough like me to figure it out, and they could have many of their viewers confused about what their title actually means.
      Thank God for me!

To take that it is "illegal" to say prayers to it's ultimate conclusion would imply that since the state has the power to collect taxes on what you earn that the state also has the power to determine what faith you have in any form of religion. If the state can take away your money to operate itself then all of your tax money should be beholden to the state and what kind of religion you believe in or practice. If the state has the authority to confiscate all your money then they ultimately have power to take away your religiosity.

The separation of church and state means that the state cannot make laws determining what is religious or anti-religious. And certainly no one side of the can petition to the authority of the state because of it. That's why the freedom from religion stance has no constitutional relevance. The constitution clearly states that the freedom OF religion cannot be infringed though. And that is constitutional law!

  • @purplepepe218
    @purplepepe218 Před 4 lety +1

The resources of the state cannot be used to prohibit the citizens from exercising religion. Therefore the state is not a factor whenever people exercise their religion. The First Amendment implies that all expenditures of the state can never be used to prohibit people from exercising their religion. Otherwise it would logically follow that the resources of the state or the authority of the state could prohibit the exercise of religion in its entirety or in any particular instances. The only limit on the state is that no particular example of religion should be promoted by the state as an oath of office to the state's authority and how the state operates in a negative sense.
