Real gospel music speaks to your pain, doubts and fears, which is why it touches you and then it gets inside of your soul and soothes you. It somehow lets you know that you are going to survive this crisis also. This inner food that real Gospel music has within it is the reason you by-pass this new stuff and go back to the real stuff that feeds and soothes. This contemporary Gospel does not do that, in my opinion all it does is make you want to dance and move your body much in the same way you would if you were listening to Rhythm and Blues, in fact contemporary Gospel is the new Rhythm and Blues because a lot of today's singers, can't sing.
I remember growing up, When we hear gospel music my grandmother would say she sung with the Spirit... Didn't know for sure what she was talking about but not I know... We need to go back to the old landmark and make a different so the world can see Jesus in us

We even had our own singing group, “The Friendly Five” and had practice at our home once a week. As we got older the group was dismantled due to the fact we all had other interests. I am the only girl with four brothers. I am the second oldest. My oldest brother is 2 years apart. We were very close I think because the other three 5 to 10 years younger. My oldest brother was called to Glory in 2004 from prostate cancer. Two years after he passed I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. In 2012 I was cancer free and remain so until this day. God is good.

My grandma used to make us sit on the floor and watch this Gospel Concert VHS while she babysat us and cleaned the house on Saturday nights. I didn’t understand then, but now I do. So grateful for her. ❤️
