GIP is sooooo right!!! Folks don't understand "the industry" didn't like what P was doing because he wasn't "attached" with anyone. He did it independently by himself. He was from the south, and they didn't like that. Folks fail to forget No Limit was making so much money at one point that they were making more money than their distributor at the time, Priority. Priority couldn't even pay them properly because they were making too much money. NO label has ever repeated such an act since!!!!!Cash Money did their thing, BUT they had a BIG machine behind them Universal. No limit didn't have that, so that's why I never put N.L. & CMR on the same level. N.L. was TRULY independent! Gipp right they always kept P success at a minimum cause he wasn't walking to their beat 💯💯💯

@ImDatReal30 Priority was a major label but not like Universal! That why BBTP broke up because when Priority was bought out, the new company want No Limit to put contracts on each artist. It was a 3 way phone call between P, the label, and BBTP. BBTP said they didn't want no contracts and to keep it as it is and P said fuckem that's on them!! BBTP got mad that P said fuckem but he wasn't saying as if he didn't want them. He was saying like "fuckem it's on them" Priority couldn't even paid No Limit correctly cause No Limit was making too much money. Priority was a major, but not like Interscope, Universal, Def Jam, etc

Midwesterner here from St. Louis who was a teen in the late 90’s……✋🏿✋🏿✋🏿…..West Coast and southern hip hop was dominant in the Midwest back in the 90’s (I listened to ALL COASTS)…..The East Coast artists and executives definitely were arrogant back then. A lot of them felt like Hip Hop started and ran through the East Coast, therefore, if they didn’t get the shine or artist recognition first, all the other regions meant nothing in comparison to them. That being said, Master P was still able to make hundreds of millions independently, and was able to collaborate with who he wanted. I’m pretty sure discrimination within the industry by other execs., labels etc; played a part in him not receiving more deals after his original ones expired with his distributors, and was continually blackballed….He was never able to reinvent himself because of it, and got caught up with tax issues, lost artists to crime and scandal, and the label fell apart. He had a nice run, but couldn’t reorganize his business. Ultimately, he wanted to remain primarily independent, and help keep money and control primarily in black hands, just like Dame Dash, but we see who kept money and control primarily out of black hands, and prospered, artists and execs. like Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, and Birdman….👌🏾

Jay-Z & Diddy never was in Master P way simply becasue the south has its own shit going on. Master P label couldnt keep up with the times, Cash Money stole Master P's blueprint, ran with it and did it better. when Juve, B.G. & Turk left and when Lil Wayne wasn't as hot in 2000 to 2003, Birdman solo shit and Big Tymers shit was keepin their momentum as a label goin while No Limit failed at its Re-Invention, Birdman successfully kept re-inventing his self and label. Master P just fell off bruh. Birdman NEVER complain about Jay-Z or Puffy having success and he been winning and still is and he KNOW he got the best Record Label ever. it's only the rappers like Gipp who complain but not in any of the people lanes that he is hating on, he's not in the "Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Nas, Andre 3000, 2Pac, Biggie, Scarface, Eminem" convo, he aint sold records like them, and Gipp dont got no thriving businesses like Master P, Birdman, Jay-Z, Diddy so what is he really talking about, he is just hating. Master P dont even complain about this music shit or worry about other niggaz success or be like "why him?" when others is winning, he just keep on hustlin to something hit
