- hey everyone! i decided i would make a video just mostly talking to you guys because i haven’t done that for awhile. just kind of an update on how my life is going. i’m doing all kinds of stuff today but i’m super happy i got a chance to upload today. it’s sooo hard to stay consistent with no car. but soon enough 🤞 i addressed a couple things in this video as well that i feel like really need to be brought up. one being the emails i’ve been receiving. it actually makes me sick knowing some people are actually thinking of me this way 🙃 i try to ignore it or brush it off but like actually please stop sending me emails like this, i don’t reply to emails like that anyways so there’s honestly no point. sorry i got really into that for a second but yea🤣 i hope you guys have a great day, or night; and i hope you enjoyed the video!! byeee

Emma I don't know what it is about the mic that you need explaining (and I don't know that mic you have), but I'll try and cover bases from what you said. Firstly, the gain on your mic is to do with how much sound you're allowing in (as opposed to volume, which is how much sound is coming OUT). Luckily, for the sake of your asmr, you can think of it in very simple terms - increasing gain makes your recording louder, but it means the mic will pick up more background noise. Higher gain can cause clipping, and would also be risky if you bump the mic a lot, or need to do anything else that is loud. Super high gain also creates distortion, but I honestly don't know if you can push your mic to that kind of level. Not enough gain will mean your videos are harder to hear. Typically, for normal talking stuff (like podcasters), I think they have the gain turned to about halfway.
You also mentioned settings right? Now I have no idea what yours are for the microphone, but I'm assuming they are going to be similar to what the blue yeti has. It might have less, but I'll try my best to make a general description. One of the settings on the mic is probably going to be the stereo option, which makes it so left and right matter. People will hear different things in their left and right headphone (or speaker) depending on which side you're doing something on. Another option is going to be non-stereo, which just means everything in every direction gets picked up equally, regardless of where the mic is. Now, if you have settings similar to what the blue yeti has, you may find there are podcast and interview modes. Podcast mode means that the mic only picks up sound from the front of the mic, and silences every other direction. Interview mode only picks up sound from in front and behind the mic, which is good if you are interviewing somebody sat opposite to you. But like I said I have no idea what modes you actually have, but I'm fairly sure a stereo and non-stereo option are going to be there, unless bought a non-stereo mic (but then I imagine you wouldn't have any other modes generally. A basic non-stereo mic would be quite cheap and not have crazy different modes).
If what I've said makes absolutely no sense for what you're seeing or hearing from the mic, then let me know what mic you are using and I'll look it up if you can't get this video you mentioned yourself. But I'm fairly sure the mic modes are going to be about changing the directions the mic picks up sound from.

The way things work on the internet is...the more you complain about something, the more people will do it...if you keep receiving those messages dont reply and dont even mention that you received them...otherwise they wont end
