    Thanks Coach! And some kids definitely pick up on tactics others it may take some time. But for coaches we need this.

      Exactly. It’s you as the coach understanding this information that’s important, because you’ll design practice sessions that will reinforce the concepts in different ways until they all get it!

    Hi, nice nice, but I have one question at all of your video series here for 7vs7. Most of all of your videos are with group tactics. Don't you think you are a few steps ahead with group tactics at this stage of age? I mean its youth level or isn't it? U7-U10 or so? Personally i think it's way to much information at this level. But it's only my opinion. What are your thoughts about that? Regards from Germany

      Think of this - here in the US, if I took 6-12 kids of this age, tossed them an American football, or hockey sticks and a ball/puck, and said play, those kids would not only know immediately how to organize and play, but would demonstrate some deep knowledge on tactics, formations, rules and conventions of the game, all with ZERO formal coaching.
      Try the same here with a soccer ball. Those same kids wouldn’t know even how to start.
      Same goes for the parents - the same people who volunteer here to coach youth soccer.
      Why? Because we are not a soccer playing nation, sadly. We don’t have that deep, long standing family relationship with the game, unlike other sports.
      My videos (especially these starting ones) are an attempt to shortcut that learning process for those moms and dads who volunteered (or were volunteered!) as a coach, have grown with their kids into (what is common in the US) town travel soccer, and are curious enough to want to learn more so they can be a better coach.
      These first few videos try to fill in that background that the rest of the world takes for granted.
      And yes - these formations and team tactics are appropriate for the COACH to know about - but these videos (so far) are not about teaching the kids this info - it’s about giving the coach a framework to work within so they know WHY they need to work on certain technical skills, and then WHERE to apply them.

    Coach KW, thanks for the great video. I am looking forward to trying to get my U8 Stiker and Center Mid to coordinate their pressing on goal kicks to make our pressing even more effective.

      U8? Good luck! I'd focus on U8 just getting as many touches as possible - they don't have the spatial processing yet to always understand distances and spacing between objects, especially moving ones. Their brains and neural pathways literally haven't developed that concept yet at that age, so you may find it's a struggle for many of your players at that age.

    No build out/offside line in your league?

    • @SoccerCoachKW
      @SoccerCoachKW  Před 3 měsíci

      No. Center line. A lot started with a build out line, but then dropped it when it was too much effort to paint another line… 😂😱

      @@SoccerCoachKW It's a dashed line, they only have to paint half of it! :D
