You know I just noticed, in this song it's about tyrannical oppression and control with Armstrong speaking to Raiden through a loudspeaker and fighting Raiden distantly without any threat to himself just like a politician, but once Raiden and him are fighting one on one and he opens up the song becomes a mutual recognition of each other and their ideals, becoming akin to an apology with "Standing here I realize" as he fights him like a man on equal standing.
There’s a lot of hindsight symbolism, with instances like this speaking a lot about the characters as a whole though I really feel like the writers and developers just wanted a massive fucking metal gear as the penultimate fight

I'm not sure what it is about this remix that makes it so darned ear catching. Though at least for me, the inclusion of Armstrong's voice clips really adds to it. A very nice touch.
This feels like the most relevant of the songs in terms of our modern culture. Just make it "Let the establishment control your soul" and it's pretty much emblematic of the struggle of liberty vs authoritarianism we're dealing with today.

Well, the first time I listened to this I thought "The first part is good, but the original vocals really ruined it." Now, I can't help but think the original and the final are equal. And god, the duet (7:21) is GODLY. Great one!
What stands out to me about this song, apart from all the other boss themes, is that it applies so well to real world governments. You dont have to suspend disbelief for this song's message (edit cause i forgot to add: and it's straight fire like the rest of the soundtrack too)
