    I like that you only play the music when you're not talking that's a plus! And good music choice and good vid. I'm resurfacing an oak Amish farm table that the finish has partially worn off and I just want to make it even and finish it over again. Someone was giving it away so we took it.

    These are the best videos on CZcams for “how to” you actually give important details of what we need to buy in stores, how and why, all while showing yourself doing it as well.

    Amazing video!! Thank you for actually saying how long it took you to sand! I am really struggling with my first project. I’m just going to paint, but even with 80 grit on an orbital sander it doesn’t seem to get much off :( I just tried a citrus stripper and it worked like magic so now I’m trying to understand why so many people sand for hours when you could strip! I know you mentioned wanting to avoid the mess and having to sand anyway, but can you explain the process for stripping Vs sanding for a beginner? Thank you sooo much 🖤🖤🖤

    My sanding bag and box on my Milwaukee never keep dust in them. I don't understand why 🤷. I just got a mask by 3 M that has a pink filtered respirator on it and Bosch goggles for over my glasses and it's freaking awesome

    Hey Amy! Thanks for the great video. I have a question. I am supposed to sand a whole table for a customer. I don't have an issue with the top but it has narrow legs with grooves on them. What would you suggest on how to sand the legs?

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, Thank you for watching!!
      This can be tricky. You have options though. There are sanders on the market now that are made for that type of sanding but they can cost hundreds of dollars an example would be the surface prep sander. There’s also small sanding sponge kits that you can purchase on Amazon to fit grooves. The kits cost around $30. If it were me I would take a sanding sponge and put a 120 grit paper over and sand by hand. It’s going to be very time consuming and hard work so you should definitely factor that in your price. Good luck with your project! I hope this helps.

      @@FlipItFurniture thank you for your reply. I know surfprep, however don't want to invest in that amount of money for rare projects. I would definitely like to give it a try to the kit though. Do you have a link for that?

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  Před 3 lety +1

      Here is a link. I have never used these so I would Recommend reading all of the reviews and info before making your decision to buy. It looks like they come with sanding paper that you put over the foam. I would be so interested to see how this works. I actually have a table I will be working on in the next few weeks maybe I will buy them and give them a try!

    Did this table have any kind of varnish on top ? If not is that why you are going straight to sanding instead of stripping first ? Sorry if you mentioned this already but I didn’t catch it lol

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  Před 3 lety +1

      Sometimes you can sand over varnish. It just depends on your piece. If there was a really thick varnish then I definitely would’ve stripped it first. But since it was just a thin factory finish I knew Sanding would be much easier. Stripping is a lot of work so if I can avoid it I do.
      Also, I talked to you earlier about the grit on those brushes and it just so happens I ended up stripping the top off of this dresser today. It had three coats of paint and underneath is this beautiful natural wood so I ended up stripping it twice. I didn’t want to Overwork the wood With steel wool. Stripping it twice definitely helped and then I just used the softer wire brush. It’s not metal or brass I’m not exactly sure what it’s called. There are three options at most hardware stores and I went for the softest one. It kept the wood fully intact. I hope that helps!
