Fantastic description. There aren't many who can combine the two. Whether she intends to, thinks about that, tries (doubtful, she seems far too natural a person for that), it's almost a case of who cares. But, at their best, they entwine two separate emotions in the vocals, guitars, lyrics, feel. What a band, in so many ways so unique.
I was a huge fan of The Sundays in their 90's heydays, and still a fan now ... good melodic, well written, well played pop with angelic vocals - still makes me "feel" the same joy up my spine as I did back then, brilliant.
I saw them play live in San Diego at The Canes in 1997 or 98. In between songs, Harriet was talking to the audience and asked which song we wanted to hear. I yielded "SUMMERTIME!!! and she said "Aw, perfect!" Immediately they proceeded to play that song. It was unforgettable and incredible!!!! Love The Sundays and all of their music... FOREVER!!! Please come back!! Pleeeease......
I had tickets for that show and didn’t go because my “ex” was there …. What a fool I was. Thought they’d come back and never did. I think of that mistake often
Oh, Harriet...where art thou? I like to imagine that her, David and their two children went on to live a happy and anonymously quaint life somewhere in the UK countryside. Their music was a gift to us, and their early retirement from the business was a well-deserved gift to themselves.
My god. Just watched this twice in a row and my eyes are filled with tears. I’ve always been in love with this song. I never knew what she looked like but she’s just as enchanting visually as her voice promised. It’s such a romantic, dreamy, nostalgic and perfect song. What a chorus. As good as any Her voice fits it perfectly A golden moment in the universe created this little masterpiece. Thank you stars. Thank you The Sundays.
What a voice! Harriet sings this full of hope and so in love with possibility of love. The dreams of a young woman. I think it was a moment in time for The Sunday's. Still would love them to come back together and perform.
A prime example of the music industry be so fickle. This was amazing music, an amazing singer with an amazing performance and they went away. Meanwhile, we have so much crap that passes for music. At least we have these recordings to appreciate.
Just heard this song for the very first time and it's 2022,!!!!everything is so so true what I read about them ,what an incredibly beautiful voice she has.
Love this, an actual live lead vocal (backing vocals and instruments are track) on TOTP! Some might think it's all mimed, but her mic is for sure open and it's lovingly mixed with the track, no autotune required!
This is one of my 2 1/2 year old daughter's favorites. One of her before bedtime songs. Here the lighting and stage really show Harriet's beauty and talent!!!
Gosh her voice is truly lovely omg and im not the type to listen to this genre of music my fav bands are Korn, Slayer and so on, even when people hear me listen to the Sundays they can't believe it but i just love Harriet and her voice so soothing and real and powerful its like an angel is singing to me. Love her🌺💐💖
I had no idea of the existence of this song until I caught it just now on BBC4 totp2. What a beautiful, glorious, youthful celebration of life. Her voice is wonderful how it almost doesn't quite hit the notes, similar to Bernard Sumner's unique delivery, under-produced indie creating an authentic, refreshing, honest sound.
I don't think it's 100% live. She's singing over the backing track, which a lot of artists did on TOTP and also the Whistle Test. Live performances became more common on TOTP in the latter days.
Loved the Sundays since the 80's when they broke out. Still love them. Lyrics beautiful. Takes me back to better days. Refreshing compared to the mass produced crap we have to endure now. Last be em.
Great solid song. Soulful vocals. And their appearence in a buffy episode singing wild horses still haunts me. Think they needed just a couple more summertimes but they done very very well to get where they got. It's impossible for bands of this ilk to get anywhere these days. Sad but true
I love watching these gems from the past... when lip syncing was far less prevalent than it is today. It's beautiful to hear those genuine imperfections in an artist's voice.
To be fair to TOTP it was a lottery. They had pop acts come in whose membership was based on what they looked like on the cover of Smash Hits. They had US acts who didn't want to sound check and they had to put on a decent show. They couldn't rely on acts just turning up and hitting their notes.
One of 2 "Spirit Songs" that The Sundays managed to make (with "Here's Where The Story Ends"), only 10,000 Maniacs and DMB managed that trick. Such a great band, wish they had made more than what they did, but appreciative of what they did.
one of the song that taped for radio host hunt in my town, I announced with my style in the middle of the song that this is one of my favorites, unfortunately the jury didn't put me through, and the aspiration of being the radio announcer still remain, hicks
2024 and still loving this
A voice full of love with a twist of melancholy. Sublime.

The 90's, the last generation of great music.
I saw them play live in San Diego at The Canes in 1997 or 98. In between songs, Harriet was talking to the audience and asked which song we wanted to hear. she's a house wife and mother now .. the voice though shame Harriet Wheeler was pure class
More power to them if they're happy; they made beautiful songs and joy is worth everything.
@@superunicorn6288 Well they made 3 great albums and now they are settled down and happy. Seems like a pretty good life.
What a great experience and memory! Thanks for sharing. I’m sure it still brings a smile to your face when you think about that night.
I had tickets for that show and didn’t go because my “ex” was there …. What a fool I was. Thought they’d come back and never did. I think of that mistake often
almost 2020 and still in love with her voice!
This was a band that deserved to be huge. Harriets voice was stunning.
I thought she was lipsyncing, but @2:14 had a sharp note that stood out and made me love her even more.
Look at the focus of the crowd. No distractions! 😊😊
Oh, Harriet...where art thou? I like to imagine that her, David and their two children went on to live a happy and anonymously quaint life somewhere in the UK countryside. Their music was a gift to us, and their early retirement from the business was a well-deserved gift to themselves.
Stunning lady .

What a chorus.
As good as any
Her voice fits it perfectly
A golden moment in the universe created this little masterpiece.
Thank you stars.
Thank you The Sundays.
I still love this band. Unique sound and ingenious lyrics. Dearly missed. ❤
I loved Harriet’s voice!!!!
Outstanding!!!!!
This is truly one of the best bands in the history of planet earth.
Harriet's voice can melt everything. I love it!
The voice of an angel.
That voice ♥️
What a voice! Harriet sings this full of hope and so in love with possibility of love. The dreams of a young woman. I think it was a moment in time for The Sunday's. Still would love them to come back together and perform.
She vanished where is she what does she look like today?
airgreek basically the same just slight aging
The most beautiful and unrated voices you will ever hear.
Very Smiths'esque, what a beautiful stirring vocal, what Morrissey'esque lyrics and what a fantastic Indie band they were. Brings a tear to your eye.
They're described as combining a lot of Smiths and Cocteau Twins elements. I'd tend to agree.
A prime example of the music industry be so fickle. This was amazing music, an amazing singer with an amazing performance and they went away. Meanwhile, we have so much crap that passes for music.
At least we have these recordings to appreciate.
Harriet was so cute! They were such a good band. Their music was so flighty and unique and that voice is just so good.
They used up all of the reverb allocated for the 90's
Just heard this song for the very first time and it's 2022,!!!!everything is so so true what I read about them ,what an incredibly beautiful voice she has.
what a massive hit pop song. this should be on the radio in 2020
How did I miss this song back in the 90s? I listened to many of the similar college rock bands back then.
so underrated😭 i really wish they had gotten the recognition they deserved
This world needs The Sunday’s back playing and making music. So very much missed🥺
Love this, an actual live lead vocal (backing vocals and instruments are track) on TOTP! Some might think it's all mimed, but her mic is for sure open and it's lovingly mixed with the track, no autotune required!
Yes i thought the was a flat note near beginning. Lovely on the chorus❤
Pure gold
Harriet Wheeler just got me through Easter 2020.
Takes me back to London squating in Brixton and the Stone Roses debut, good times
Thanks you thanks you So much for being ..
I'm here for this type of songs
I miss these guys! They were so wonderful! Hope they record again soon!
This is one of my 2 1/2 year old daughter's favorites. One of her before bedtime songs. Here the lighting and stage really show Harriet's beauty and talent!!!
My heart...❤️❤️❤️
Once heard, that voice stays with you forever....How this band weren't massive,I will never know, but doesn't detract from the enjoyment.
Harriets voice I could listen to all day. so recognisable and so very, very good!! Please Harriet do a tour of the UK!
Oh I love her
Everything about Harriet screams “Angel”!! One of my favourite female vocalists.
Love her🌺💐💖
Same here mate I love slayer
Yeah man
From the first listen....like I'm connected to her ...wow
And now when I'm like 56 yrs old.
And divorced...lol
Angel of life
Love this band
obsessed with this song
voice of an angel

Just WOWOWWOW!!!
I wasnt born yet around the 80's or early 90's, I've only discovered the Sundays recently and I love love love their music!
Julie Berces glad you discovered The Sundays !! One of the best of their time ! Love the Blind album ✌
Wow, she wasn't lip syncing... that's a rare for TOTP. The Sundays were the best.
100% Live and excellent . love it 👍😍😘
Me & you thought the exact same thing.
why do so many people lip sync on Top Of The Pop
I know right? I think their integrity wouldn’t allow them to disgrace themselves in that way.
I don't think it's 100% live. She's singing over the backing track, which a lot of artists did on TOTP and also the Whistle Test. Live performances became more common on TOTP in the latter days.
Not sure what to say. Perfect.
Great band great voice great song
Ini lagu pas gua masih smp nih...asik bgt lagu nya👍👍
Loved the Sundays since the 80's when they broke out. Still love them. Lyrics beautiful. Takes me back to better days. Refreshing compared to the mass produced crap we have to endure now. Last be em.
True
They broke out in the 90s though. The first record was released in 1990
@@veryonlineman Well they had Cant be sure in 89
today, as we enter winter,
Oh wow🥰
Ohhh..finally found this song ...I wanna open my eyes in the morning and this song comes on
If my spirit/soul were turned into music this would be one of the songs it would play.
Dear me I miss this sound such an awesome band takes me back to my youth
The Sunday's just nailed it here! Nice to see live footage from them.
Amo este hermoso tema musical de The Sundays! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰📻🎶📺
Saludos desde Chile!
Everything about this is so wonderful.

Harriet has the cutest little nose!
u like her little snout haha..
I love watching these gems from the past... when lip syncing was far less prevalent than it is today. It's beautiful to hear those genuine imperfections in an artist's voice.
I can't believe the 90's was 30 years ago!
most beautiful voice ever.. .💘
The sexiest Harriett ever, even in the Wintertime.
In love since '89.
Not enough attention is given to Dave's soulful playing. He's there in the moment living with the music.
Hands my all time fav female singing voice
The instrumental was playback though. But yeah it's beautiful.
Harriet Wheeler....Norah Jones....Harriet Wheeler....Norah Jones...Hope Sandoval....damn...
Voice of an angel ❤️
That voice! x
One of the very few TOTP performances that wasn't lip-synced.
To be fair to TOTP it was a lottery. They had pop acts come in whose membership was based on what they looked like on the cover of Smash Hits. They had US acts who didn't want to sound check and they had to put on a decent show. They couldn't rely on acts just turning up and hitting their notes.
I’m 28 and 90s Harriet is my all time celebrity crush.
she's an angel.
Indeed...
This is a sweet, beautiful version and you can really see them all going at it so well. Wish I could have been there.
One of 2 "Spirit Songs" that The Sundays managed to make (with "Here's Where The Story Ends"), only 10,000 Maniacs and DMB managed that trick. Such a great band, wish they had made more than what they did, but appreciative of what they did.
Dude, "Through the Dark"... listen.
I don’t see phones recording, just humans being completely happy listening to this amazing band 😍♥️ saludos from MÉXICO 🇲🇽
Get rid of the internet
this is the best performance of this song crown gets in the act at the end.
Such Nostalgia!!!!
Fantastic voice
She sounds good live...
unbelievably amazing 😃😘
fuck, i miss the 90s terribly
noisydope1138 time flies it's only when you hear a song and think fuck were had 20 or so years gone
This song tugs at my heart. What happened to these guys? I wish they'd get busy again.
Just...beautiful...
Could this song be any more beautiful?
I think Harriet is the only one performing live here. It's backing track rather than the band playing
I'm pretty sure this place didnt have the capacity to actually have a live performance
Such a great voice
THE most beautiful British voice in decades.....only Sandoval gets close....
cute yet romantic... lovely voice and song.
one of the song that taped for radio host hunt in my town, I announced with my style in the middle of the song that this is one of my favorites, unfortunately the jury didn't put me through, and the aspiration of being the radio announcer still remain, hicks
Love seems so.
How could anyone say no that.
love seems so.
Just a fantastic song for sure..
Just brilliant.
May 2023 ❤
goosebumps
Three prefect records and then they disappear forever. Perfect ending.
Harriet looks like she was having a grand old time here. I loved how she moved when singing. Damn I miss this fucking band.
