  • Wander the streets of downtown Santa Cruz in this home movie from 1960. You might spot a few shops and names you remember! We spotted: Slocum’s Liquors, Salinas Valley Savings, Voris Realty Co., De Witt's China, Santa Cruz Pet Shop, Moderne Studio Photography, Mobley's Barber Shop, Ferrari Florist, and several others. And, of course, we take a tour of the world-famous Antonella Brothers Begonia Gardens before we go!

It was still nice there until the mid 80's. I used to take my family there every year for a week long vacation. Overrun by bean heads now.

I like the Jaguar XK150 at 1:41 I wish there was some scenes from the wharf. I might have seen me fishing there when I was a young boy.

1960......the year we moved there. Lived there until joining the Navy in 1983. Didn't know how lucky I was to grow up there until I left. Wonder what some of the bungalows with the white picket fences go for now? 1.5, 2 million?

I would sell my soul to have lived in that time period in California. As close to utopia as you'll probably get.
